The valve was listed as in stock

The valve was listed as in stock, I payed for it and the first I knee it was not being delivered was a Paypal message informing me I was being refunded!
Afterwards I got an email from Brimar saying the valve was out of stock!9

Nice valves

Nice valves (EL34, GZ34), good looking and lovely sound, quad EL34 could have been matched tighter, fair price but shame of high import taxes to EU (obviously this is not Brimar's responsibility), fast and secure shipping.

Very happy with these

Very happy with these. I am using them in 2 guitar pedals and I have to say that they are an improvement on the valves originally supplied with the pedals. I also tried the Brimar 12AX7 which sounded good but I think the ECC83’s listed here are clearer with a smooth breakup.

The guys at Brimar have been great and have been very helpful with the ordering process.

The 4 off EF86 valves were dispatched…

The 4 off EF86 valves were dispatched quite promptly and were well packed to arrive in good condition too! I have recently acquired two Quad 2 amplifiers and the plan is to get these working with the ones supplied and then replace all the valves with new once I am sure that all the passive components are within tolerance etc.
For Hi-Fi the ECL86 would be a good one to consider manufacturing.
For vintage broadcast radios the audio output and rectifiers are the valves most sought after of course.
To summarise valves such as UL41, GZ37, EBL31, EL33 and EL37 would be worth thinking about too!
A dialogue with the BVWS and a look at EBAY prices would prove helpful.

Better than my NOS

I wasn't sure what to expect, but the 6sn7gt actually sounds better than my NOS tube that cost four times the price. There was some scary buzzing in one ear when it was first used, but after 16 hours of burning in that went away completely revealing a nigh silent noise floor. Super impressed and will be buying again in the future

Brimar valves

Good price, great product, arrived really quickly, good communications regarding the order. Top flight all round, plus the long term plan to re-start valve manufacture in the UK on Mullard machinery.

New rectifier is great working really well

New rectifier is great working really well! Love the concept behind the company, will be great to get a British valve manufacturer back into business making a completely British made valves again. Best of luck to all those involved! Would definitely buy again.

Brimar ecc83 review

I have purchased reissue ecc83 valves from Brimar before and pleased with their sound in my Croft pre and power combination. These were a close resemblance to the long plate Mullard in my possession.

The ones supplied are a little a little different with a slightly shorter plate and a thinner tube. I was expecting a significantly different sound in my Croft series 7r power amp. However I am delighted to say that it sounds wonderful to my ears. Colour, detail, nuance, scale and body that comes naturally to valves. Provided just the right amount of warmth that digital medium seems to require to make long term listening enjoyable. Recommended.

ECC83

I had my doubts before placing an order for a pair of ECC83s, but my curiosity won out. I wanted to compare the sound of these new valves with the valves of the 50s and 60s. In short, these new valves sound great. I would like to express my gratitude to Bob for the excellent service and good work with clients.
