My review is not about the app but the…

My review is not about the app but the content. Whoever, is repsonsible for one of the biggest TV archives in the world being so woefully mismanaged does not realise what a fantastic opportunity this is to dig deep into the archives and dust off some rarely seen classics. Instead we get more than 50% films with every new update and TV series which are on DVD or have been available on multiple streaming sites!!

Had issues

Had issues with the app. Had to restart or reinstall the app before using. After some investigation where they asked me the same questions several times, they sent me to phone manufacturer, phone manufacturer sent me back to britbox, only app I have this problem with is britbox, britbox can't find any solution. No refunds offered despite the issues impacting my use. After 42 emails going both ways, they finally offered to cancel the subscription and refund the month. Other streaming sites offer better content and more reliable. Don't risk wasting your money on britbox

Almost unusable

Great programs but I have never used such an awful app (amazon firestick). Slow, buggy, crashes every time I load it for the first time. Subtitles always seems to match the background colour so are unreadable. When I close a program and reopen it, it tries to the oldest episode I hadn't finished watching. Constant buffering.

Cannot re-view an Episode in a Series

I watched Series 1, Episode 1 of "Home" and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to show it to my wife. We were unable to access this Episode 1 again. The software kept forcing us to Episode 2. I have never had this problem with other paid streaming services.

Great content, truly AWFUL app

The content in BritBox is really good, and fills the niche that neither Netflix or Prime are interested in covering, namely classic British comedy and drama. But, and it's a big but, the app is truly awful. Constant crashes, flaky offline viewing, poor UI, basic functions not working, and even really simple features like automatic bookmarks often don't work. Trying to remember where you got up to is a real obstacle to enjoyment! So BritBox, great job on the selection of content, but to keep /expand your subscriber base you really need to now focus on the experience. Before it's too late, because once someone leaves your platform you'll NEVER get them back. And that's something I'm close to having to do because of all the faults.

Where do i start this is one of the…

Where do i start this is one of the worst apps i have used, does not remember from were you was watching. When you Click on a episode it just exits the app.When i contacted them same excuse they gave have you reinstalled the app, what if you can count 50 times no joke lol.
All my friends in the area have the same problems, when you can use free streaming apps that do a better job.
Didn't even want to give them one star.

Useless platform

My experience seems to match everyone else's: Good line-up of content (though no kids content), but an unusable platform that constantly drops out and blames my WiFi connection. I won't be resubscribing. What rubbish from a joint BBC/ITV venture!

Stealing money from my account

Still billing 5 months after cancelling, they send emails to my account but then say that address does not exist when you try to get money refunded.
They acknowledge that the subscription was cancelled before the trial ended.
Bank refund the money every month but can't stop the DD so endless calls every month.

We love our BritBox subscription

We love our BritBox subscription. A wide array of fantastic stuff. PBS quality, lots of things came from PBS, or will eventually find their way there. Great mysteries, comedies, suspense, historical stuff and just fun stuff like old series that those of us in the US haven't seen. Unlike the majority of old US shows many of those are really well written, acted and generally timeless. We have most of the top services: HBO, Stars, Showtime, FX, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime TV, Sundance, Apple, and Acorn and BritBox are my all time favorites. I think the price is reasonable for what you get. I tried one of their free trial weeks and have subscribed the last 3 years.

My only complaint is the buffering, it can be bad at times. Wish they would do something about that as shows can hang up and you have to keep exiting and wait for the issue to pass. That doesn't really happen with Acorn, maybe once in a while. Additionally, the sound can be super low. So sometimes we need to turn off the AC to hear some shows.

Content great but constant buffering is extremely annoying and that is trying to watch on an Ethernet connection not Wi-Fi. If they could fix that problem I would say it is well worth the money, as is, it is a waste of money

TEN REASONS NOT TO SUBSCRIBE 1)…

TEN REASONS NOT TO SUBSCRIBE 1) Difficulties logging in, 2) App slow to load on TV, 3) constant buffering, 4) If you resume an episode half way through, the sound and image are out of sink, 4) Disappointingly limited selection of programmes,5) Randomly and wrongly claims you have no subscription, 6) Mobile/website inadequate when trying to resolve issue 5, 7) Customer service over the telephone is dreadful, having been unable to reolve issue 5&6, told to phone back 8) After about a month, the app refused to load at all 'try again later' (I gave up), 9) You're paying for stuff you've already paid for through the license fee, 10) exclusive to Britbox shows air on ITV a few months later. THE ONE GOOD experience of Britbox was cancelling my subscription.

Absolutely rubbish. Everything I try to login it doesn't recognise. Y password then the link to renew the password doesn't work. All they want is to con you out of another subscription!

I don’t usually leave a bad review…

I don’t usually leave a bad review unless I really have to. I would have preferred to have left feedback when I cancelled my free trial..
But this seems to be the only place I can leave feedback.
I loved the content BUT the buffering and slurring/slowing down of the scenes made it unwatchable for me. Maybe it’s because it’s prime time (Sunday evening) but every part of the app, even going back from a program to the menu etc. it gets stuck and takes time.
Even with the time etc. it’s too much to be able to watch anything. I’m currently watching itv hub with no issues and Netflix and others apps there’s no issue. So it is standalone with Brit box.
If the speed gets quicker in the future I would be interested in returning.
However, right now I am on a free trial and still not watching it unfortunately.

Also, happy to delete my review if I ever hear Brit box knows of the issue or have sped things up :)

Disappointingly let down

Disappointingly let down
It's fine if you wish to only ever watch things once, as once you have watched to the end the next time you want to watch it they charge to re-watch.
It seams to be the same with Amison Prime, What's the deal? is a monthly subscription not enough that they need to drain every penny out of their customers? . Will be concentrating on Netflix in the future as you can re-watch programs as much as you want as long as it's up on their sight.

Content is really good

Content is really good. Particularly a lot of TV series may have missed over the years - caught up with Shetland for example, and a few films etc - However the app is really glitchy still. It has improved... But, quite often still - films will freeze and inexplicably the sound will begin from the start again. Have to start all over again. It’s troublesome.

But, the amount of stuff here is really good, and overall good value for money. Maybe a few more films would be welcome - Get Carter I’d like to see - it’s missing from the Brit film selection which is a real shame. I hope they keep adding more. But there is a lot to be getting on with

Given all the hype about Britbox & the…

Given all the hype about Britbox & the supposedly grand films & dramas. Oh My Dog - The buffering out of this planet (note the sarcasm) Personally I wouldn't bother. You'd be best served using Netflix, Amazon, Disney+ or even the ITV Hub no adverts if you pay a tiny amount each month or annually.

Absolutely appalling service

Absolutely appalling service. In October 2021 Britbox stopped working on my Hisense TV. Many many emails and 11 months later I still have no Britbox on my TV. Their latest suggestion is that I contact Hisense myself but my contract is with Britbox but they've taken no responsibility to even attempt to sort the problem out. I just get useless emails assuring me that their engineers are still working on the problem. If you're thinking of subscribing to Britbox, seriously don't bother. Don't just take my word for it - read all the other bad reviews. I'll be cancelling my membership as I've had enough. It's a shame Britbox had the potential to be great but they're not. I've only given 1 star but if I could have given 0 stars I would have done.

Good shows but the worst customer service on earth and extremely poorly executed app means no point in subscription

This is truly a Jekyll and Hyde company.
The programs are the Hyde part, good selection of both the classic English shows and newly created that gives it a something for everyone appeal.
Unfortunately the Jekyll part completely overwhelms the above programs.
1. Extremely useless customer service that actually goes out of their way to antagonize their own customers. They have a ticket system - it asks you for a phone number and convient time to call. That's a complete lie - they won't phone you even if someone put a gun to their head. Then they suggest a hundred different things that have ZERO revalance to your problems and promptly close the ticket WITHOUT asking you if the problem is solved. Completely garbage department.
2. Their own app that you use to watch is often updated with NO QC check to see if it ACTUALLY WORKS across multiple devices leaving many users WITHOUT a way to ACTUALLY WATCH WHAT THEY HAVE PAID FOR!!!!!!!
3. If there ever was a company that TRULY DESERVES TO GO BANKRUPT it's Britbox. Period. End of story.

Terrible

Terrible. Signed up via amazon prime. I wanted to watch big train a comedy on from the bbc over a decade old. Half way into a season it wanted to charge me per episode. Its a joke.
