I saw a Jacket by this company on a man in a local shop. Thinking about the most expensive item of clothing I have ever bought I thought I would visit the premises. I could not find the opportunity to go to the southwest so I ordered a hat as a trial. Fantastic, beautifully made. So I ordered a jacket. Although I am a 42 it was a little snug and I wanted to wear ma jacket or jumper under neath so the 44 was better. The Quality is simply astonishing. I have done my homework with the ones in the Imperial War Museum at Duxford and they are not a patch but more expensive. The stitching, the lovely solid brass fitments and the thickness of leather immediately tell you that you have purchased an heirloom. Can't wait for the cold weather........

Edit as of 16. April: My chargeback has been upheld. In other words, the merchant was unable to prove that the product had ever been dispatched.

I am documenting this experience because the basic standards of online retail were simply not met.

I ordered a hat from The British Sheepskin Company and paid in full in advance. I have proof of payment. What I never received, however, was any normal order documentation: no order confirmation, no dispatch confirmation, no tracking number and no information about which courier or postal service was used.

On 6 February 2026, the company sent a short email stating that my hat had been “posted a few days ago” and was “on its way”. That message contained no tracking number and no other shipment details.

After waiting about two weeks with nothing arriving, I contacted the company again and asked for the tracking number, the courier used and the dispatch date. These are standard details for any shipment. They were not provided.

As of early March 2026, nearly a month after being told the parcel had already been sent, the item still has not arrived and there is still no verifiable proof that it was ever dispatched. No tracking number, no proof of postage and no explanation of where the parcel might be.

This review is therefore not about product quality. I never received the product. It is about the complete absence of transparency around the shipment and the inability (or unwillingness) of the seller to provide even the most basic evidence that the order was sent.

When a customer pays in advance, the minimum expectation is simple: confirmation of the order, confirmation of dispatch and the ability to verify the shipment. None of this happened here.

Anyone considering ordering from this company should be aware that in my case the order was paid for, the item was allegedly “posted”, but no tracking, no proof of dispatch and no delivery followed.

Bought an RAF Sheepskin Flying jacket. Looks and feels great. Top quality piece of kit. Very pleased.

I have never had any dealings with the British Sheepskin co before but the company went out of there way to help me, very understanding and friendly a big thank you to Gary your response went way beyond anything I could imagine

I thought I’d wear this investment for a couple of weeks before I gave this honest review, but I needn’t have worried.. this British made ( reassuringly heavy ) Flying Jacket is nothing short of sublime!! For full disclosure, my Partner had one made, and looking at it ( & of course wearing it ), I just knew I had to get one too.

Coveting my Partner’s jacket, I went for the men’s style one size down, & adore it, even tho it now renders all my other sheepskin jackets to the ‘pretenders’ corner

Very disappointed
Order place 15-Dec-25 did not arrive albeit only after that date they could not guarantee delivery. 3 emails + 3 calls [answer-machine] and zero response from British Sheepskin Co. Issue now reported to the bank. They are also not showing as being a registered company with Companies House and nor do they show a co number on T&C's, invoice, or web page.

The quality of the sheepskin , fit and warmth of this jacket is amazing, I did do a lot of research before opting for this company and I have not been disappointed.

The most beautiful jacket. My partner wanted a RAF jacket so I searched the web for one and came across this company. When it arrived it exceeded my expectations. It is the most beautifully made jacket and smells gorgeous. My partner was over the moon, it fits like a glove, is so warm and he feels like a film star in it! I couldn’t be happier and it’s British made. Love love love

I've just taken delivery of a new sheepskin coat from British Sheepskin.

The service I received from Gary was exceptional and I had a warm welcome when I visited his workshop in Somerset to discuss some bespoke changes to one of his classic jacket designs.

Throughout the process he was exceptionally good at communicating with me and delivered as promised on time.

It's been a joy to experience genuine British craftsmanship at its best. A very well made jacket, which I'm very pleased indeed with.

Always a calculated ‘risk’ when buying before trying, but the final product, distressed flying jacket is a pure joy. It must be said it arrived a few days after the 10 working days, but I understand the stresses of a successful family size company, & Gary kept me abreast of all my (pre, during & post) queries & concerns. I cannot recommend this company enough purely on the basis of the sheer quality of my jacket.. an investment, with this company that I’m so happy I made!

I have bought the Gunner jacket from Gary. Arrived today and everything perfect. Great attention to detail. Wonderfully -5 degrees cold evening to try it out in only a tee shirt. Snug and warm. This jacket will last a lifetime - go and treat yourself......

Absolutely excellent coats, had three made so far all perfect, Gary listen to my wishes gave me advise and produced the wonderful garments.

My husband wanted a British made sheepskin coat. Found exactly that on this website. Needed to phone for bigger size and got all the help I needed to order from Gary. Was advised it would be 3 weeks wait which was spot on. The craftsmanship and high standard of the skin is excellent. 10 out of 10 for quality and service. Would highly recommend .

Fantastic product and Service
- I cannot recommend this company highly enough - amazing product and service from Gary and the team. My jacket arrived within the eta given to me and I am extremely happy with it. It is amazing quality and looks exactly as described- it fits like a second skin and is too warm to wear indoors.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use BSC in the future although I suspect this jacket is probably going to look good for decades to come. Im not ruling out buying another colour though.

I ordered an RAF flying jacket from British Sheepskin, and I couldn’t be happier with it. The quality is absolutely superb — the leather, the stitching, the lining — everything feels authentic, solid, and beautifully made. It’s one of those rare pieces that instantly feels right the moment you put it on.

Gary, the man behind it, clearly knows his craft inside out. The attention to detail, the precision of the work, and the overall finish are simply top-notch. You can tell it’s made by someone who takes real pride in what he does.

Communication was excellent throughout. Even when there was a small hiccup with the courier (their fault, not his), Gary was attentive, responsive, and helpful the whole way.

The jacket has already become one of my favourite things to wear — it’s warm, comfortable, and has that genuine vintage spirit that no mass-produced item could ever replicate.

In short: exceptional quality, honest craftsmanship, and a pleasure to deal with.

I Phoned Gary and asked to be measured for a B3 Sheepskin waistcoat, as I was going to somerset for a short break and British Sheepskin company was only about 30 minutes detour on our journey. Received the product yesterday and I'm Thrilled with the quality of his workmanship and materials used. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to wear it until Christmas,as it is a present from my wife.I will update more later in the year.Thanks once again Gary. From , Adrian Gauntlett.

I recently purchased the Sheepskin Flying Jacket Gunner from British Sheepskin, and I couldn’t be more impressed. The fit is spot on, the craftsmanship is outstanding, and the merino wool lining is unbelievably soft and comfortable. Special mention to Gary for the personal service – knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the products. That extra care makes all the difference.

I found this business online through research and thought their jackets looked incredible. I was visiting the area so emailed Gary asking if I could pop in to see the jackets and he was more than obliging, he helped to size me up and even let me choose specific materials for a jacket to be made! It arrived shortly after this and the quality is incredible! I love the jacket and it fits perfectly so many thanks to Gary!

I viewed various flying jackets on the web, but the more I researched everything the more I realised you cannot cut corners if you want a genuine leather flying jacket. As this is an expensive purchase I decided I would drive from Surrey to Somerset to view everything before purchasing anything. I'm glad I did. Whilst I took a while to find British Sheepskin's premises, it's tucked away and not a particularly large place Gary was most helpful. I was going to buy the gunner jacket, but instead he persuaded me to purchase the RAF one. When this arrived initially I thought it was too small, but over the months I came to realise that the jacket needed time to fit my body. It's a beautifully made jacket. It is super warm in the winter. Those who poked fun at my purchase as unnecessary came to regret this as I was kept warm during meeting in cold warehouses while they froze. Since I purchased it I've had lots of admirers, from colleagues and friends to strangers stopping me in the street to compliment me on it! I've had the jacket now for almost a year and am delighted with my purchase, hence this review. Thank you Gary for your assistance and my lovely jacket.
