Excellent Experience

Excellent Experience! We booked a school trip for 3 classes to visit the British Ironworks Centre over a period of 2 days. Chloe was brilliant at accommodating our large numbers and quickly finding two consecutive dates that worked for us all. She responded swiftly to my emails and answered any questions we had. The extinction trail and sculptures- link perfectly to our Discovery chapter and work on sustainability !

Wondering place to visit

Wondering place to visit. The sculptures were amazing, lovely to walk around inside and out. Great gift shop with quirky gifts and the afternoon tea was delicious. I won't be going back just to see the sculptures for the chips too!

School visit April 2026

Booking our class visit to the Ironwork Centre has been really straightforward. The staff I have been in contact with have been quick to reply and very helpful. When I showed photos of the site to my class, they were already very excited to see the sculptures up close. We are particularly looking forward to the extinction trail which ties in with our work on art and science.

Our recent school visit to The British…

Our recent school visit to The British Ironworks in Shropshire was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly helpful, making sure both the children and adults felt supported and comfortable throughout the day. Everything was very well organised, which meant the visit ran smoothly and without any stress.

The team were especially good with our younger pupils, showing patience, warmth, and enthusiasm that really helped the children feel at ease. Activities were engaging, age-appropriate, and explained clearly so that all the children could take part and enjoy themselves. The staff were always on hand to answer questions and offer support whenever needed.

Overall, it was a brilliantly planned visit that perfectly suited a Year 1 group. We would highly recommend The Brtish Ironworks in Shropshire for school trips, thanks to their friendly, organised, and attentive staff.

Fantastic School Trip

Our visit with KS1 to The British Ironwork Centre was truly wonderful. The staff went above and beyond to make the children feel comfortable and involved, explaining things in a way that was easy for them to understand. The sculptures were a real highlight—our children were in awe and couldn’t stop talking about them! It was an inspiring and enjoyable day that perfectly combined learning and fun.

Our coffee & cakes were a definite hit and the staff were so helpful. We will be making a return visit soon bringing the grandparents with us!

Terrible response time -see update.

I’ve purchased a substantial item online, on 4/3. It arrived damaged, the email response is shocking. Still awaiting a response, they have replied once, but not solved my problem.

Update- British Ironworks responded to my review. They have compensated me and apologised for their service. I have amended my stars from 2 - 4.

Poor experience

Placed an online order for two catalogue items and opted for collection. Mistake. Emailed company to collect the following week but did not get an answer until after my requested collection day. Called and was told no stock and items being made. Waited another 2 weeks and no contact thus emailed requesting full refund. They wrote back stating refund not an option (goods were not personalized or otherwise different from online store - thus a contravention of online selling regs). We eventually arranged a personal collection and arrived at the 10am opening time. Having seen reviews we opted to pop into the cafe for a breakfast treat. 2nd mistake. Cafe not busy with a choice of tables and mostly pleasant smiling staff. However - we waited and waited - 38mins in all (from till receipt to grumpy table delivery) to receive a very very mostly stone cold breakfast. At a cost of over £24 for two, the toast simply was not, the majority of other ingredients (beans, mushrooms, hash brown, etc) were stone cold - only guess is they were left on the plate for sometime before eggs were cooked? Fed up (not), we left extemely disappointed and not willing to wait another prolonged period for replacements. During our wait most cafe staff seem engaged in taking 'social media selfies' of upcoming menu items as opposed to actually serving/cooking food for those actually in the cafe waiting.
The two star rating is for the complete experience (our collected goods were acually five stars in themselves - well made and very effective) however let down by very poor reactive customer service and dreadful cafe experience.

Amazing place to visit!

Considering today is Friday 13th we have had an absolutely wonderful few hours here today. I booked an afternoon tea for my mom and I back at the start of January as I know how popular and busy it can get so there's no point trying to get in on a Saturday unless you book well in advance. We had a normal afternoon tea and a gluten free one which were both delicious and so enormous and we brought all the cakes home for tea. The girls serving the teas were so lovely, bubbly and friendly and made the experience all the better. Such a famous place to visit and we were given return tickets to come back by the shop so cant wait to return on a sunnier day to explore the grounds even more. A wonderful place to visit for adults and children.

Today is Fri 13th March

Today is Fri 13th March, I have been phoning every day since Mon 9th March and leaving messages for group organiser to phone me, but no call. Today I emailed and had a reply, informing me that no group bookings on a Saturday. There is nothing on their website stating group bookings Mon-Friday only!!! My group is only for 17 people and consists of Adults with Learning disabilities and their carers who are going to be very disappointed. So much for a family fun attractionĺ
