We had car insurance with Budget…

We had car insurance with Budget Direct, and after being involved in an accident, the experience has been extremely frustrating. It has now been almost two months, and the issue is still not resolved.

Throughout this time, we have received repeated calls with vague updates such as “we will check the case” or “we will assess the car,” but no real progress has been made. The process has felt disorganised and unprofessional.

After the accident, we were not even informed where the car had been taken. We had to find out ourselves and then contact the insurance company to provide them with that information. When we contacted the repairer multiple times, they told us—even after 2, 5, and 6 weeks—that the insurer had not contacted them. This is the main reason the car has still not been repaired.

The car was a standard vehicle, yet the handling of this case has been extremely slow and poorly managed. Even when trying to make a complaint, we only received generic responses such as “good news, we will check your car soon,” which was sent after one month with no actual action taken.

Now, after two months, the car is still at the mechanic and we are left without a solution. This level of service is unacceptable, and based on this experience, I would not recommend this insurance company to others. Please if you dont want to stay 2 months without car after any incident dont get budget direct. This is the worst company for car insurance..

Cancelled policy after poor customer service.

I was insured with Budget Direct for 2.5 years, I didn't make a claim with them. I came to update my address to a house that I was only staying short term and would be moving on from again in 1 month. I was told something about not being able to get refunds for government fees and taxes, when I asked them to explain what this means she put me on hold and then came back and said the same thing. I said did you just speak to a supervisor and ask? she said yes. I asked and that is how your supervisor explained it? she said yes. I said I still don't understand. she said you can ask the government about that it's nothing to do with us. ultimately, I was not provided a clear answer and we moved on despite my not understanding. After all the questions, on top of increased premium which I can understand, they wanted to charge me $190 for change of address, that would mean when I moved again in 1 month I would have to pay $380 just for updating change of address twice. So I said, its probably cheaper for me to cancel and go elsewhere. she said do you want me to cancel that then? (I was sensing an attitude problem) so I said yes. The agent actioned the cancellation without hesitation. Shame. A result of poor customer service.

Disappointing experience Budget Direct

My experience with Budget Direct has been extremely disappointing and unfair. Since I made a claim in early March, they have told me that the repairs would take a maximum of 8 weeks. Now, almost 8 weeks later, I hear that it's nowhere near finished and will finish by July. Another 9 weeks with no guarantee, which I didn't expect; there was minor bump at the front, and there was no visible damage outside. Even though I have premium cover, I only received three weeks of a hire car, and I have been without any car since then. Because I have not been able to work for almost 4 weeks, I am at risk of losing my job. I am going through cancer treatment, so what is put on their "high care team," which technically never existed, as there has been no care, no urgency, and no support! I'm honestly desperate; five years of loyalty and the one time I needed them, they failed me, and I feel completely let down. I strongly suggest everyone think carefully and read experiences like mine before choosing Budget Direct. They will let you down.

The claims experience post accident

The claims experience post my motorcycle crash has been one of the most drawn out and tedious experiences I have had with any insurer.

After weeks in hospital following my accident, the last thing I needed was the frustration of dealing with an insurer. Paying a premium to a company means they need to come to the game with their services when required.

After a week or so of finding out where my bike even was after being towed, I was told by an inspector it would be written off, but it was my job to look up the market value by comparing local sales. Pretty sure that's their job. A week or so went on to which I receive a text from a repair shop. Odd given I was expecting a write off, following this up I learnt Budget failed to advise me on their decision to send the bike for repair review.

Expressing concerns over this lack of communication we are now 2 months post accident and I am still without a vehicle and Budget push the responses to come from the repairer. Im not concerned about the repair time as I understand parts require ordering, I am concerned about the lack of input from my insurer and the customer follow up.

I had followed up for pay out of personal effects that only was done now 2 months post submission and should have been issued when the bike was sent for repairs. To which I also forgot to mention I had no agreement on, it would be unlikely for me to have declined repair as I need my bike, but I didnt verbally agree or sign my vehicle to be handed over to who it went to.

It is our responsibility as customers to click every additional add on box for rental car, specific goods, values etc etc. Beware that they are only budget due to gutting all the life out of a policy that you're left with bare minimum and quite frankly defeats the purpose as insurance isnt to be left better or worse but to get you back to where you were.

I honestly feel I am worse off after this claim with minimal compensation.

Budget Direct Car Insurance👍🏼

Went with Budget Direct for car insurance. Out of all its competitors, they were the cheapest. The process was easy enough to sign up/buy insurance for the car.
Small note; looks like there are a few hidden extra fees if someone is driving and not listed, under a certain age, etc...
Overall happy with the experience Budget Direct has provided and I now have peace of mind for insurance👍🏼
