Lack of compassion for a special needs child

Terrible customer service in the Belfast store.
Went on Thursday to get a bear for our special needs for his birthday on the Saturday but was told he had to be with us, which is understandable i suppose.
Went on the Saturday waited for ages to get the beat stuffed and when we got to the till the girl was asking us for a email so we could get the discount for the beat.
We explained we didn’t know anything about a email and asked her where can we get this email and she couldn’t answer us.
This caused our child to have a 2 hour melt down as we had to leave the store empty handed.

Disappointed

Ordered 3 mystery egg suprise plushies, contents can be seen through the packaging for a start and all 3 received were exactly the same. Hardly a surprise. All local stores have been closed and although they except returns the cost of postage and petrol to get to the post office etc isn't covered. Not impressed.

UNPROFESSIONAL RUDE MANAGEMENT (DEMI & CHARLOTTE) - LAKESIDE STORE

I entered the Lakeside store recently to purchase 2 bears for my children and I was told I needed to santise my hands with the store hand sanitiser. I explained that I had my own sanitiser and that I had just cleaned my hands, Demi demanded that she needed to see me clean my hands with it in front of her as it is apparently store policy. I asked where this policy was stated and of course there is no such thing. If this is a rule, why was every other customer allowed into the store without using it? I sanitised my hands in front of her with my own sanitiser and her words were "you know what, why don't you just leave" I was told to get out of the shop in front of my children. What is going on? Is this normal customer service? How did she even get a job to begin with? I am appalled by this and the fact that at least 2 other staff members watched on like it was totally normal to treat people in this way, for asking a question!!! I called the store to relay this to the store manager, Charlotte. Charlotte explained that nothing could be done about what I had experienced because according to Demi I was being "aggressive", how ironic. If being aggressive is the label you get for asking a question then this team is being led by the wrong people. Staff here clearly need thorough training in customer care, service and basic manners. So unprofessional and rude and lack tact. A change of attitude is needed, better yet - a change of staff. If you would like to be spoken to in a degrading manner, then please go ahead and visit this store - I wish you luck.

Incredible!!

Elisha at the Southampton store was incredible. She couldn't do enough and nothing was a problem. I went in there to get a class mascot (as a newly qualified teacher I thought it would be nice) and decided on a monkey.
I decided to name the monkey Charlie (after my younger brother who passed away). My mum started to cry and Elisha couldn't do enough to help us. She offered to get tissues and reassured her.
As we were paying, she gave us the details for head office so my mum could contact them in regards to donating to charity ( my family set up a charity ). She also gave me all the information for class trips.
Overall, Elisha was honestly amazing and the store should be so proud to have her.

I couldn’t BEAR to go on

Last week I won the lottery and decided to take my little girl (she is 19) to build a bear, she wanted to get the “life size black bear” model which, to my surprise, was a Frankenstein-esc reanimated bear with metal claws and a super-cute hat to match. Of course, this would have been terrifying to live with so we went for the standard “Bear” bear, with no accessories or stuffing. Once we had purchased the bear, I realised that I was now bankrupt and would have to remortgage my house to pay for next weeks food, but of course this wasn’t really an option as I live in rented accommodation.

My experience of this company can be summed up in three words, these being ‘Entirely Made Up’ because nobody would dare to carry my child and I am banned from most build a bears due to getting carried away when I visited the Southampton branch back in 2005, leading to the accidental stuffing of 3 kids. I guess you could say I should’ve stuck to the BARE necessities.

Very disappointed today

Very disappointed today. 10 year old granddaughter is a massive build a bear customer and has been since 5 years old. She has 5 bears now and loads of accessories. For Christmas she wanted the Starry Night bat and we checked the website and it showed it was IN STOCK. A trip was arranged for today and all week she continually checked the website at Bridgend that Starry Night Bat was there. Very excited she left with her father at 9:30am....At the MacArthur Glen Bridgend store she is told it is out of stock!!.
When her father said that they had checked the website and it showed the Starry Night Bat was in stock, the assistant said “yes the website always says things in stock when they are not”
My granddaughter was in tears and this has really upset her Christmas as going to the build-a-bear workshop was the highlight of her Christmas.
Surely Build-a-Bear can ensure their website correctly shows what is in stock as other big companies manage it.
So please don’t assume you can get your child what they have set their heart on, don’t make them a promise.
Jessica came home empty handed and sad.
