Be patient and fair!
Well sorry to say, but surely customers realised how Cahoot operates for this account?
Patience is involved and common problem being logged out with incorrect password , well this happened to me with other Banks (and usual?) so be fair. If you need Apps. then go for Banks that deal with them!
I can’t access my money
What’s an archaic way to bank. I opened a Cahoot savings account on the recommendation of Martin Lewis because it had a great interest rate and was instant access. I’m self-employed so I try to put as much as possible into my savings to maximise the interest then transfer money to my current account as and when I need it. Due to getting one digit of my passcode wrong three times I’ve been locked out of my savings account and left with nothing in my current account. I can’t pay my bills, I can’t buy food and I have to wait up to SIX days to get new log-in details in the post. This is utterly ridiculous. Thankfully, I’ve been able to borrow some money off someone to tide me over until I can get back into my savings, but this is unacceptable. I should be able to reset my password instantly. I’ll be moving my money as soon as I can access it, i.e. in a week. Oh, and they don’t even have an app. Avoid.
Old school banking indeed, but happy overall.
Previously I had never heard of the Cahoot bank and only found them when looking for the best rates online for my savings.
Yes, it has the feel of an 'old school' early 00's online bank. Slow process to get the account fully opened and also slow to access your money should you transfer it on the day of opening. Also, no app (or none that I am aware of), but this is not a big issue for me as I use a laptop daily.
But once I received the scratchy codes via post (old school indeed)and I was finally into the account I was very happy, the site is pretty simple to use and laid out plainly.
The saving rate is one of the best I could find, I have linked to my main bank account and can instantly transfer money backwards and forwards with ease.
One big gripe, when I log in via web browser it sends a code, a mix of numerical and upper case letters. You have 30 seconds to receive and input this code. Sometimes the message does not come through straight away, and this creates unnecessary anxiety trying to input this complex code when it is received. It would be far easy if they just stuck to a numerical code.
Overall, I'm happy, until the rate drops and my money packs up and moves on (or I choose to spend it).
Absolutely fantastic savings bank
Absolutely fantastic savings bank. A shame that there’s no app, otherwise fine. Good rate of interest, just make sure when logging in you don’t make more than three mistakes, otherwise you’ll have to contact customer service who answers the phone straight away, so not really a problem. Throughly recommend.
Absolutely useless
Absolutely useless! Opens account, it took 11 days for the security code to arrive and 3 more for the pin details to access online. When I finally get these and am prompted to change user name and create a pin, I do, and immediately it wouldn’t let me back in.
Reset password? No chance, because the accounts not yet activated they have to post out security access rather than email. 7 days later it’s still not arrived, what a complete s**t show! Go elsewhere and save yourself the hassle of it.
Opened an online account
Opened an online account. Had to wait for 2 separate letters in the post with a passcode and a security code before you could withdraw any money out of the account. Putting in was absolutely fine. Tried to get some money out and hey ho, locked out of account after 3 attempts of putting in the codes sent. Phoned cahoot and all they said was you have to wait until you get new login and security through the post which took over a week. New codes didn’t work so I phoned again and she said they were having problems with people using MacBooks!! As soon as I got access to my account I withdrew the whole lot and went elsewhere. Very archaic system, no app and you have to log in online and wait for text codes as well to your mobile before access to the account. Wish I’d read the reviews before opening an account.
Scam Company with no Support
The company is owned by known scammer Manish Chawduary. He has a history of defrauding partners and multiple attempts to serve lawsuit has been unsuccessful. This seems to be a scam company setup for data stealing/spying on other ecom brands. Standard away.
Absolutely useless
Cahoot is the worst at opening new accounts. I wish I read the reviews before I tried to open the account .
It asks you to provide 2 forms of ID through uploading photos. It takes several attempts and then ages to upload these photos. When eventually they do, after a few days , an email advises there was a problem and refers you to an application hub. When you input all the required info, the hub does not work properly and it says you have to call a number- but it is busy. The clueless staff tell you the best thing they can do is cancel the application and start again. I did this all over again and after 2 days they send an email , but this time they want photocopies of the 2 forms of ID posted to them! This has wasted so many days and cost me money in lost interest so I gave up and picked another saving provider and the whole thing took only a few minutes. Avoid cahoot and Santander and go elsewhere.
No Login Details sent at all.
No Login Details sent at all.
Opened an account on 26th Dec 25. Got an email telling me I'd receive 2 letters within the next 7 days with login details. Nothing on 15/1/26. Can't get through on their customer support line. The automated line tells me to "complete my banking via the website" - My call is about NOT being able to do that. It also tells me I'm in a queue and it'll take 15 mins. This is is not true. What sort of a person runs this bank? Why are they so rubbish? I wish I'd read these reviews first. What a mess of a bank!
Opened a new online saver account…
Opened a new online saver account unlike most banks login details not generated straight away instead sent through mail. I eventually got details and surprise they didn’t work so got locked out of my account. Requested new details on 22nd December and surprise surprise still waiting.
In mean time tried to pay money into my new account but it keeps bouncing back - apparently account unable to accept credits which makes a savings account a bit useless.
So taken my savings elsewhere to a bank that is much easier to use.
Dreadfully poor customer service and outdated procedures
Non existent support
Well, I thought they can’t be as bad as everyone was saying, and the interest rate on the account was worth giving it a go. No they really are as bad as reviews suggest (and they’ve dropped the interest rate). My account has stopped working with an unhelpful “Sorry” message and there’s absolutely no way to reach them without calling but nobody ever picks up. “You are in a queue and your wait time is more than 20 minutes”. An hour later and nothing. Do yourself a favour - don’t give these people your money.
Cahoot blocked my account
Cahoot blocked my account without warning after I tried to withdraw £5,000 and has refused to give me access to my own money for days. Their customer service is useless—no one can provide a timeline, and they keep saying it’s “under review''. Security Department can't help. It's now with the investigation team, who have not bee in touch with me. 72 hours & counting! AVOID!!!
NIGHTMARE I opened an account and sent £25000
I could not get.hold of anyone on the phone afte waiting 10 mins. the email.address used to contact me does not work. The website is a nightmare. I shall close my account.
Absolutely terrible
Absolutely terrible - IT infrastructure from the 2000s. If you enter your password wrong 3x they lock you out your account for 7+ days and won’t let you access your money even over the phone. This is not in compliance with consumer duty, treating customers fairly and also vulnerable consumer legislation. I will close my account as soon as I can.
Simple and straightforward experience
I haven't had any issues using the simple saver account - surprised by the number of 1 star reviews here. It's not a very sophisticated interface but for a savings account it's sufficient - just wait until you have received your login details in the post before transferring funds into the account. Without them, you won't be able to log in. I also had a query and was able to get through to them on the telephone very quickly, so happy with my experience so far. No issues moving funds in and out.
Grim don’t waste your time
Opened a savings account and told would get login details within 7 days - shame that weeks later I’m still waiting for them and meanwhile my savings sit earning less than they could be
Clearly a bank in the dark ages that uses snail mail so I couldn’t recommend them to anyone
Terrible
Terrible
Entered correct details
Next log on attempt said these were wrong
Now waited over a week to post new log on passwords
Can't withdraw any money soon as I can I will be leaving
Getting money out is horrific
Paying money in is simple. I tried to withdraw yesterday and it shut down the account. Over 2 hours on phone to sort out. I tried to withdraw money again today and it shutdown again. I was told I put in the wrong password which j know is not the true. I know have yo wait for 5 to 7 working days for a letter to arrive tk allow me to log back in. Instant access my arxe
Account set up is a terrible…
Account set up is a terrible experience. Claim to be an online bank, but end up requesting paper copies of documents with sensitive data on to be sent through the post - at my expense. I’m meant to be doing them a favour by giving them my money - had a change of heart £ I’ll save elsewhere thanks!
