Have Calico Laine gone bust?

I ordered a sample mid August. The fabric was just what I needed. When I went to order the fabric, on the same day the sample arrived, it was out of stock. It has been out of stock ever since then. I have been fobbed off by email more than once. I have now been unable to get on to their website for over a fortnight. Has this company gone bust? Why were they knowingly selling sample for fabric they do not stock? Exceptionally poor customer service. I do NOT recommend.

Ordered nearly a month ago

Ordered nearly a month ago - contacted them over a week ago - fobbed off with an excuse - promised delivery by last weekend .
Now no response to emails no response from Instagram , no response by phone .
Requested refund - nothing !
In my day if you took money and failed to fulfil an order it was called fraud
Companies behaving like this should be closed down , they are a disgrace to companies like mine which has traded for 3 generations through hard work and customer service .
It’s £12.00 but believe me I will issue County Court Proceedings purely on the principle plus court costs and reasonable legal fees -my daughter is a lawyer and will be o the case -as it held up an important project .

Misleading stock levels

Ordered Wool, which was in stock according to the website. after about 2 weeks of waiting I chased the order to be told it was out of stock. Still waiting for a refund. Very poor service

Solving a problem

I was told that my order would take 5-10 days as stock was too low to meet my needs. Replacement stock had not arrived but was offered the same fabric but which was fire retardant. Although it was 40% more expensive they would supply at the price I had paid. I think with my dealing with this problem in an understanding manner with the assistant achieved a solution. Sometimes things go awry to which you have no control. I was very happy with the outcome.

Wonderful experience from a regular

I have regularly ordered fabrics online from Calico Laine. I have ordered dozens of items over the years and never had a problem. Their fabrics are all high quality and are exactly as described.
There was an unfortunate case that I received the wrong fabric. Communication was excellent and I received the correct fabric just a couple of days later. These things happen. Their response was very quick and things were sorted without quarrel.
I would 100% recommend Calico Laine to anyone, and have done in the past- a lot!

I’m a regular visitor to Calico Laine…

I’m a regular visitor to Calico Laine and am always amazed by the amount of fabric and haberdashery available. Staff are always really helpful, especially if I’m struggling with a project.
Definitely worthwhile visiting if you love all things Sewing, Knitting and crafting.

Wished I’d read the reviews before buying!

Blatant misrepresentation at its worst!
Won’t be using them again and will be warning all my students not to use them either!

Ordered some fabric in March

Ordered some fabric in March. After chasing delivery I was told it was due in the next week but it still never arrived. After constant chasing and promises I asked for a refund and still not had anything.
The fabric is still available to buy online so they are still scamming people to buy it when its not in stock!

Really bad quality fabric and customer service.

Recently ordered some fabric that was supposed to be 11oz, but it was so much more lightweight than that, there was no way it could be used to make jeans. I messaged explaining I would be unable to use the fabric to ask for a refund as I was clearly mislead about the weight of the fabric, they refused to refund me and sent me a very passive aggressive email in response. Don’t make my mistake, save your money. Their fabric is crap quality and they clearly don’t care.

Mislead people

Mislead people, say something is in stock, take their money and then send an email to say their item is not in stock after all. Zero accountability. Really poor service. Sensing emails doesn't counter the fact you have mislead people and got them to spend money with your business. Will take any future business to a company that says if things are out of stock when you are trying to order in future

Sends inferior products

I ordered some fasteners and paid £59.80 for them and received an inferior non-branded product which I didn't want worth £18.99. They didn't get in touch to ask before sending or refund the difference in price. I think they were hoping I wouldn't notice. They have asked me to send back to them for a refund which is a hassle. Avoid

Terrible customer service!

I ordered some fabric in October but it didn't arrive. I chased twice in November but promises were not fulfilled. I asked for a refund in December twice and I wasn't reinbursed til January!

Don't waste your time

Very bad customer service, I got an email saying my order is delayed and they would dispatch on the next day due to the stock supply, it didn't turn up after one week of waiting. Then I sent them email to inquire the process of my order, I got a reply saying it will dispatch on the next day again(?!). After all the clarifications, i was informed they actually have no stock and I need to wait until one month later. The staff even put the blame on me I have missed her follow up email which never existed ( and of course with no apology ). I requested to cancel my order and
I got no respond since then. I have no choice but to contact the bank, then I got an email from other staff and I got a full refund. Very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend to order on this website, either you prepare yourself with delay no more delivery or a rude customer service when you approach them.

This company sent me the wrong fabric

This company sent me the wrong fabric. They did accept responsibility for their mistake and offered a refund but, even though photos were presented of the fabric they'd sent (which was awful and frayed) I was expected to pay postage to return it before receiving the refund. This would have been minus what I would have paid to return it. So I'm stuck with the fabric and £8.00 out of pocket.
I will not be ordering from this company again.
