“A Nightmare Campervan Rental”

We had the worst experience of our lives renting a vehicle from this company. We booked a campervan 6 months in advance, since it was during the Christmas period and we didn’t want any surprises. What did they give us? A “Sturt” campervan – basically a total clunker with over 800,000 km on it. The campervan looked nothing like the photos on their website – those are totally misleading. The pictures must be years old, and any resemblance to reality is pure coincidence.

Day one, the power steering was already acting up. Day two, while driving on the highway, the engine started overheating and coolant started spilling inside the van. We had to stop and get towed back to their Melbourne office.

When we arrived, we were met by an incredibly arrogant guy named Adam, who, instead of showing any concern, told us that we had “already caused enough damage” and that he “didn’t owe us any apology.” They gave us another campervan while they tried to fix that heap of junk, which according to him was “what we had paid for” and we lost two full days of our trip (the day it broke down and the next day).

It was beyond frustrating having to keep going with this company, but we had no choice since it was December 23rd. The most humiliating part was having to continue after the disgusting way we were treated, because a breakdown can happen, but that kind of treatment was totally unacceptable.

And to top it all off, they held $1,200 on our card for over FOUR months for a ridiculous little scratch on a car, until they finally sent us the repair invoice so we could file the insurance claim.
