Predatory business. Pass if you do not reside in the US.
I have followed this company for years and love the design of their products. I finally purchased a piece; however, it's important to note that I live in Canada and the company is based in the US. Those living in the US may not have the issues that I did.
I took my measurements and used their sizing guide. The page noted that this camisole was +1" from the sizing guide. The recommended size from their sizing guide calculator was also my usual size: a small, and so I went with it. Upon receiving the top, I found that I am swimming in it. It's really big. Exchanges aren't possible, I found out, from where I am. And the return process is not the easiest - and on the customer's dime. I would also need to figure out how to get my duties/custom fees refunded. Getting a new top means a reorder as there is no exchange. Which means more shipping and more duty. It all starts to make it not worth it.
I wrote to customer service as I had submitted my request as an exchange and realized my error. Their response was slow and didn't address my original concern and question. Just a boilerplate response about no exchanges for international orders.
After some thought and bewilderment of how the top could possibly be so large, I decided to measure it. I wrote back in again and inquired about the actual measurements of the top as it seemed unusually large. They confirmed the expected size of a small to be 36". Mine was 38". They asked for photos. I sent them.
The response back was that they said they passed this along to their team and to have a nice day. No solution. I asked about whether they'd be doing anything to resolve this. They said that's how the top is and tried to gaslight me with a screenshot of their website that had since been updated that day - which now stated that the top runs large and to go down a size. As if this was proof that they had already stated it on the site at my time of purchase and I should have already known.
ONLY the website was updated only after receiving my inquiry and review of the product on their website.
I was gobsmacked. To have a product variation so large it puts the product in a completely different sizing category. To confirm the product should be a 36" width, then realize there is one that is a 38". Then instead of taking accountability for this, to update the website as if it was expected and always like this and use that same website information as "proof" I should have known, when they hastily updated it upon finding out about my situation. It's unconscionable.
This company is not upfront or honest. This gaslighting of a customer is mind blowing and something I would never have expected.
Had they said to my initial inquiry that there can be a 3+" variation in sizing in their products... and it's just how it is. I'd have thought - well that sucks, they must have terrible quality checks, but I would have left it. Instead, they confirmed it should be a 36". Then changed their stance to say - actually, all sizes are expected. Hahahahaha. It's actually laughable, it's so corrupt and dishonest.
Aside from that, I also noticed that the review I posted about this top being on the "fits large" side was not posted right away. Clearly it is reviewed carefully - so it's likely a follow-up review I am trying to post will be not be posted. It took many days - nearly a week for it to go up for something that with other sites and companies is an automatic process once a customer has verified the review. What's the point of reviews if you are culling back reviews that are less than favorable?
Also eyebrow raising and doesn't do much to help my trust as this point.
As an additional note - I previously had a few items in my shopping cart and every day over 3-4 days I had them in there, the price went up by $1-2 each day, each item. Something to consider for out of US residents. The exchange rate they are using for the conversion from US pricing is really high. Much higher than even credit card posted rates.
All in all, I will never be back to such a predatory company disguised as a woman-empowering business.
I won't be buying from this company again. Too many flags that don't line up. If you're in the US, it's probably fine as returns and exchanges seem easy enough. But at the pricepoint they're selling at for those outside the US, it's just not worth it.
