Offered me £3300 originally for my part exchange then without seeing it said £2800 auto trader recommended a trade price of £3400 the guy on phone said it's all the money and we go off we buy any car due to this I decided never to use these ever again shame because they have some nice cars but there staff are quite rude and out to make a brewery instead of a drink on your part ex

The staff were all thoroughly professional and friendly. I was never under any pressure to buy the vehicle or any additional services. I inspected the vehicle on my own and had an unaccompanied test drive. In short, the most pleasurable car purchase experience possible.

Purchased a Vauxhall Insignia B 2018 plate from WSM dealership, Salesman Thomas was very helpful and didn't pressure the sale.
Had a few issues with the car after a few days, but Carbase were happy to cover the repairs at their garage in Bristol.
Elise Fitt was very helpful at all times and she made sure everything ran smoothly while my car was in their garage being repaired.
I am now very pleased with the car I purchased from Carbase and pleased with Carbase over all.

Before I start, I must stress that I would much rather not be writing this email. I really do believe life is too short and I have much better things to be doing than this. With this being said, the aftersales care and communication has me disappointed with the service offered.
Upon purchasing my car, as I was about to drive away, I noticed that a tow cover piece was missing (no big deal in my opinion). They were apologetic, and didn't have the correct part for me to have that day despite their best efforts. With this being said, I was told that after service would send me one straight away and would arrive within a week or two; I have been chasing this part now for 2 months. It should have arrived on 13th July when I chased (through multiple emails, and no calls back). I must stress that it is not the missing part the frustrates me, but the lack of communication and inconsistency I have had since. I do not want to be totally unfair, as some of the customer service has been good and there has been SOME attempt to help me. However, there is such a disparity between CarBase getting in touch with you regularly, and actually resolving issues.
I leave this review as I was led to believe through recommendations that the after service care is great (a major selling point). Being completely honest, I have yet to see this high quality service. I really hope it doesn't, but if something does go horribly wrong with my car, do I honestly believe CarBase would help me swiftly and professionally? I hope that I am wrong, but based on my current experience, I really don't think they would. Please think carefully about this, as aftersales is arguably the most important thing a customer should look for, when purchasing a second hand car.
I am more than open to amending this review, if the response (which I was led to believe was great) is appropriate. There needs to be greater consistency and urgency in helping your customers. I am feeling like a number on a spreadsheet and a hinderance, rather than a valued customer.

Our advisor Tendayi was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, he helped us buy our dream car and service was great. 5 stars for him! The thing that let Carbase down was its popularity - we ended up visiting 3 times to attempt to buy this car but it was so busy / operationally at capacity (even with an appointment booked) that they couldn’t complete the purchase. Bit frustrating but in the end we walked away with what we wanted - thanks Tendayi :)

Buying the vehicle was the good bit. And then the pressure starts trying to sell you all the add ons.
Particularly with the finance and the expensive 2/3/4/ year warranty.
Excessive pressure on two separate occasions and then turning your back on somebody who is spending good money is not acceptable. The worst pressure tactics since double glazing salesman of the 1980s.

Had a variety of interactions with a number of staff at Carbase Bristol and all were positive. Hamza was the main link during the car sale and he handled things well with professionalism and good humour that made it easy to deal with. Big thanks to the receptionist (sorry forgot her name) but she helped me sift through the cars I was interested in until we narrowed it down to the one I drove away with.
The sale seemed quite thorough with lots of forms to fill in and therefore took longer than I had expected. However. I am assured all the legalities and stipulations were met.

Car had faults , had to get it recovered to them at my own cost as I didn’t take there breakdown as I had it with my bank. They only took bank transfer so no cover from your own credit card. They said they had to investigate themselves even though AA stated it’s not fit for purpose. I requested my money back as I’ve only owned the vehicle for 21 days and a week of that I was on holiday and they are dragging their heels and said it can take up to 16 days after they’ve investigated, but they still have not given me a date of when they will investigate the vehicle so I have now no vehicle no money I have a family I’ve had to hire a vehicle at my own cost as they only offered me a vehicle as and when they do their investigation !
I’m upset and very disappointed- yes the staff are friendly however if the cars are not being maintained correctly, how are the staff to know that their shortcuts being made?
Save your money and Shop at a small garage that will care about their customers and not just their financial intake.

⭐☆☆☆☆ (0 stars if I could)
I would give Carbase zero stars if I could.
We purchased a 2018 Peugeot 3008 from Carbase in August 2025 for £12,100. Within around six weeks, the car developed excessive oil consumption and had to undergo a major engine rebuild, including replacement pistons, piston rings and other components. The vehicle was off the road for approximately three months while this work was carried out.
Unfortunately, the problems didn’t end there. After getting the car back, it continued to develop faults, and I was left paying around £1,000 for further repairs after being told they were unrelated. Despite this history, customer service showed little interest in helping.
Most recently, the vehicle broke down again with a serious engine fault. The RAC attended and advised that engine oil was entering the cylinder and that the engine would likely need stripping down again. The car has now been recovered back to Carbase for inspection.
What has been just as disappointing as the faults themselves is the complete lack of customer care. I have sent well over 20 messages chasing updates and trying to resolve matters, yet communication has been extremely poor throughout. Responses have been slow, unhelpful or non-existent, and I have often been left having to chase for even the most basic information. The attitude from customer service has also been dismissive and, at times, rude. Rather than feeling like they wanted to help, I was left feeling like I was an inconvenience.
When you spend over £12,000 on a vehicle, you expect a company to stand behind what they sell and to treat customers with respect when things go wrong. Instead, I’ve spent months dealing with repairs, lengthy periods without my own car, additional repair bills and countless hours chasing updates, all while feeling that Carbase simply didn’t care about the impact this has had.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise anyone considering buying a car from Carbase to think very carefully. My experience has been extremely stressful, time-consuming and disappointing, and I certainly would not purchase another vehicle from them.
I sincerely hope no one else has to go through what my family has experienced.
Edit....... Funny how Carbase can reply to a bad review in hours, but customer emails and calls seem to disappear into a black hole. The fastest response we've ever had from Carbase was after leaving a public review. That says it all

Dmitrios was helpful and friendly, making my unplanned visit and request for a testdrive happen on a busy weekend. Subsequently, there was no pressured follow-ups, so I was able to take my time (days) reaching a decision. My request for a part-ex valuation was efficiently handled and a fair price offered.
