Do not use this company
Do not use this company (Catania airport). They do not check the car with you. They then try to push you into taking extra insurance, basically making out you will have to pay more. They charged us 325 euros for a scratch on the wheel hub that was there before, we just didn't have a photo. They also provided us with no evidence that the scratch wasn't there and said they only take pictures of damage- but wouldn't show us any they had already taken. The woman was very rude. Wish we had read these reviews. We got this through jet2, so will be reporting to them too. The extra insurance was about 340 euros so we knew they were going to try to find something. Don't go with this company and always get the person to check the car with you.

If I could give them zero srars I would. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR CAR RENTAL.
They use a typical bait and switch. Once you've made your reservation and you show up to get your car they hit you with a bunch of hidden fees not mentioned when you made your reservation.
I'm a Florida resident and was reserving a car in Tampa off of Cypress street by the airport. I was quoted online $87 for 7 days thru Priceline. I paid that upfront.
When I arrived I was told Florida residents needed:
$500,000 in insurance coverage
Must have full coverage insurance
Limit of 50 miles per day
and a $1500 deposit
That is insane!! And none of this was on the Priceline website when I made the reservation.
Just to reiterate. NEVER USE THIS COMPAN IF YOU SEE THEIR NAME FOR CAR RENTAL.
Oh and P.S.
There were 3 other families in there who were from out of town dealing with the same issues as me attempting to figure out what to do about all the hidden fees and charges that they didn't know about until they arrived.
In closing
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. IT IS A CLASSIC BAIT AND SWITCH.
I'm extremely disappointed and now i have to fight with Priceline to get my money back.
Carwiz Athens 'Airport' - genuinely worst experience of our lives
Carwiz - Athens Airport. Genuinely one of the worst experiences of our lives.
Concerns immediately as the hire base is some 15 mins drive from Athens airport!!
Rude and aggressive staff. Poor quality vehicle supplied. They then took over 3 times pre authorisation on my card than that was stated in the contract. A clear tactic as they intend on keeping as much of this as they can get away with!!
Low and behold we had mechanical problems with our poor quality vehicle during our rental. Gearbox completely failed leaving my family dangerous situation on Athens highway. We called office for assistance and they advised as we were close to the base try and drive the vehicle back to their depot as 'we're not far away'. Then proceeded with aggressive tactics and refusal to let us leave (bearing in mind car rental is base is in a dingy back street industrial area with nothing else around) until we had signed many papers in Greek language!!!
So aggressive it left my wife physicall disabled child in tears , not to mention the prospect of being stranded in a random part of Athens with luggage etc!
It turns out they have charged us in full for the failed gearbox (as stated in Carwiz mechanical own terms and conditions, mechanics of vehicle are their responsibility, not the hireres!).
If anyone can suggest how I can challenge this legally it would be hugely appreciated. It is even more hurtful that our party consisted of 3 young children (one of which is a double leg amputee) and my elderly mother and they were quite prepared to leave us stranded in random area of Athens unless we signed multiple papers which I imagine they will fraudulently use to say we accept the damages.
A genuinely horrific experience and one we will never forget.

Hidden charges and abuse on fuel ( full to full not respected) also the car was not clean and without washer fluid.
Arrogant
This company is a scam
This company is a scam! I had to wait over an hour for their shuttle during which time I was in communication with them by text since they wont answer the phone, and then they cancelled my reservation when I arrived for being "late". I paid for the car rental and then they refused to provide the car. I booked through Expedia and they also will not refund my money since Carwiz refuses to.
DO NOT rent car from this FRAUD company!!
DO NOT rent car from this company!!! Its a fraud. We took car in Zagreb and were told to return car washed (no company has ever asked us to do so), when we recieved car was dirty with sand all over floor. I complained and they said that foot/shoe dirt is something they have no control over. After returning car this morning and going to their office 7.10 (office should be open at 7.00) to return docs and key no one was available. We had to drop keys in a nearby box and were not able to go trough check of car with any of employees. As we landed home in Denmark we received e mail with pic of car trunk EDGE cover from inside and were accused of scratching edge which is in direct friction with car when closed. They DO NOT posses picture of how it looked before car was rented, even thou we asked them to provide us, not to mention that we did NOT use trunk at all. Over all STAY AWAY from this company, they are rude and fraud.
Carwiz Bucharest = avoid at all costs.
Carwiz Bucharest = avoid at all costs.
We were given a different scratched car and later falsely accused of causing the damage. Despite having evidence, staff ignored it, shouted at us, used racist insults (“gypsies”), and threw us out, leaving us stranded without transport.
This is not just bad service — it’s dishonest, aggressive, and discriminatory behavior. Rent here at your own risk.
Poor customer service
Thessaloniki airport, Greece. Poor customer service. Pushy on full insurance. Car old and air con and oil warning light not working.
On return of car charged €20 for cleaning - small amount of sand which in a beach location one would expect.
Avoid Carwiz Sarajevo Airport at all…
Avoid Carwiz Sarajevo Airport at all costs. We had a fully paid, confirmed reservation for 6:30 PM. After navigating airport security and luggage—standard delays for any international traveler—we reached the desk at 8:00 PM to find it empty.
When a representative finally appeared, he was incredibly rude, informs us he had canceled our booking '2 hours ago', and claimed our car had already been given to someone else. Their excuse? A predatory clause in the fine print that considers a customer a "no-show" after just 59 minutes. Even for fully padded first bookings!!!
The "Contract" vs. Ethics:
The staff repeatedly hid behind the phrase "it's in the contract" to justify their actions. While they may have their "fine print," you have to question the ethics and motivations of a company that deliberately preys on tourists by profiting from normal travel circumstances. Using a 59-minute window at an international airport is not a "policy"—it is a calculated trap designed to double-collect on a single vehicle while keeping the original customer’s full payment. This is a level of corruption and greed that is hard to fathom.
A National Disgrace:
Bosnia and Herzegovina is known for its incredible hospitality and kind people, but companies like Carwiz are a national embarrassment. It is a profound pity that they are tarnishing the image of the entire country by scamming visitors the moment they land. They should be ashamed of themselves for leaving paying customers abandoned at an airport over a minor 90-minute delay.
If you value your money and your safety, do not trust these people. They are not a service; they are a professional liability hiding behind unethical clauses.
Don't take chance with this company.
I had a very disappointing experience with CSRWIZ in Belgrade. Although the initial price looked affordable, the overall service turned out to be misleading and unprofessional.
We waited around 30 minutes just to pick up the car, which was already an inconvenience. The vehicle itself was old and poorly maintained, with over 100,000 km and clearly not in a clean condition.
After returning the car, additional charges were applied that were not properly communicated in advance. These included unexpected fees for car washing and surcharges that were significantly higher than any reasonable parking fine handling cost.
Overall, the lack of transparency, poor vehicle condition, and hidden fees made the experience frustrating and not worth the initial “cheap” price. I would not recommend relying on this company if you expect clear terms and reliable service.
What a BIG disappointment
What a BIG disappointment. We paid everything through the Ryanair website and the only pending amount we were meant to pay at pick up was a booster seat. We had also purchased Premium Insurance through the Ryanair website. We were suddenly faced with an unexpected ADDITIONAL charge of Euro 339..for another insurance! They would not give us the car unless we paid for it and would have lost all the other money we had paid for. Don't even try rent a car from them. A total disgrace and a big scam.

Avoid carwiz in Georgia at all cost
Avoid carwiz in Georgia at all cost. We were talked into paying 100 GBP extra when getting the car for full insurance despite having premium insurance done online before arrival, they will not provide any paperwork for this insurance, and money will go into their pockets. they will make you feel vulnerable and try to squeeze every penny out of you. they even deduced another 100 GBP from our car deposit once we got back to the UK, where they over deduced by 60 GBP without providing any receipt or evidence.

Just sharing my experience renting a car from Carwiz at Malta Airport. The pick-up was smooth, but after returning the vehicle I was charged 195 € for a broken side indicator light and administration fees, even though I purchased insurance at the desk.
Apparently some parts like indicator lights are not covered by the CDW insurance, which I did not realize at the time.
Just a heads-up for anyone renting a car in Malta: check carefully what the insurance actually covers before signing.
My stupidity and Carwiz silence is golden
I was really stupid to have misplaced my Carwiz info - ref no etc. So, arrived at Malta Airport passed closing time of 8pm. Could not find or remember which car hire company I had paid for. Carwiz was closed so I was stuffed. It would have been hugely helpful if I had at anytime had an email or reminder or phone call or anything to try and track me down for the 5 days of hire that I had paid for. So, had an exciting 5 day holiday bussing around Malta - talk about a major learning curve. Please Carwiz - bother to email folk and try and catch up. My insurance cover should hopefully kick in.
Avoid Carwiz rental car in Houston at all cost -- bait and switch
When I planned my business travel to Houston IAH airport, I looked at Expedia.com and booked a car offered by Carwiz that has the lowest price of $102.46 in total (Expedia itinerary ID: 73375710100429). It was labeled as a special price and showed to go the car rental center. I did not think anything else, and went on with my trip. When I arrived at the IAH car rental center, I could not find this company. Called the phone number, and was sent a video asking me to follow the video to go to the visiting parking lot to meet the driver who would bring me to the offsite car rental location. I was very surprised and concerned but I did not have a choice as I already arrived at IAH. It took me quite some time to figure out how to walk from the car rental center to the visitor parking lot. Then I met a guy who is the driver and he started drove me away. In the car, he told me that I need to pay an additional 100% of tax apart from what I paid in Expedia.com. I never heard about 100% tax on car rental! Sensing unsafe and being scammed by this bait and switch, I insisted the driver to take me back to the rental car center. I ended up with Lyft rides. When I came back, I found that my credit card was charged. I called to Expedia.com, and was told that I was charged because of my "no-show". I am very disappointed with Expedia.com to work with this dishonest car rental company, and unless Expedia could resovle this issue, I will have to dispute with my credit card company. If possilbe, I would advise anyone to stay away from this company, based on my experience.
The big lady that works there is a miserable demon
If i could rate the big lady and manager I would give -0. I had reserved my vehicle in October some company called Carla, which are horrible too, don't use them, either. I reserved my vehicle in October and got there Dec.28th to PR. Mind you the reservation times with Carla are open b ut do not coincide with Carwiz or other rental properties business hours, so be careful with that. That will inconvenience the customer in "losing" (an excuse) your reservation or finding the place closed. Although I had been in communications with a kind gentleman named Emmanuel, who does is not tied to this review, on the day of pickup he was not there, but this horrible, awful lady demon was, clearly, she hates her job and is there to make everyone's life difficult. Why is she in customer service, why is she there? She does not belong anywhere that involves helping customers, she does exactly the opposite. Anyways she said the reservation wasn't there, & I explained how that could be, because I had talked to Emmanuel the night before my arrival and that same day in the morning to confirm everything was there and to make sure all was set and ready to go. I've dealt with rentals in PR and they have all been a nightmare, so I'm aware, preparing & I'm maintaining this communication 3 months prior to the date to avoid getting f*kd, like I did. He confirmed that it all was there and all was fine. So the day of pick up that lady swore reservation wasn't there, and nothing she could do. Told her to please contact her co worker Emmanuel who is the person I had been dealing with, she rudely said "Nope" he's not here and I'm not calling him. I had my brother called and talked to her and she kept ignoring and making excuses. Manager never popped up to help but AT ALL. bunch of incompetent horrible people, we need our cars to move around the island, and this is the worst thing you can do to someone who had it all planned out, ruined people's vacation and time. Resuming, i called back the next day hoping Emmanuel was there, and he was the one who answered the call, Thank God, I told him what happened, he said that that lady is the worst and makes his job extra difficult because she helps no one, and gives away reservations that pay more, making deal with angry customer more of a chaos. He said I got your reservation here; it was never "not here" it's just her; she does this alt the time. come in at this time I'll have the car ready for you and apologized for someone else's 's behavior, which he did not have to do... mind YOU this is day 2 of my arrival, so i wasted 2 days & a lot of money on Uber to get around. And I'm in the island for 3 weeks with no car because of her. Its Xmas time and nothing available anywhere else, it's why I took care of it early in October. To finish, the long story, I come back in Emmanuel is there and so its the demon lady, she starts asking questions, I ignore her and continue with him, she immediately recognizes me, knows she's in deep s#it bc Emmanuel is there showing me my reservation, got up and went outside. Hes in the middle of giving me my car, and suddenly Emmanuel receives a call from his boss and told him not to honor me my reservation, and to do a new one. Funny that there were no new reservations to offer me the day before i got there and needed a car. All so they could charge me 2grand. She got up to go to the manager & tell on Emmanuel for doing right by me and his job, hence Emmanuel couldn't give me my prior reservation, and I had to leave carless because of 2 pieces of s**t ppl who do not deserve to work anywhere or be close to any human being. I told Emmanuel God bless you for trying to help and told her God forgive you for being a horrible person, to treat anyone that way, for what reason???? Why?
This is all I have to say, I hope people take the time to read this and beware of this place and people.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY they are…
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY they are fraudsters.
I hired a car from them from catania airport. They were not impressed that I didn’t take their insurance
When I returned the car without any issues or damage the lady behind the desk came out to check it and went straight to the wing mirror and said they was a scuff on the plastic. This had not been done by me!!!!
It was so slight you could hardly see it.
She then said I would be charged 120 euros to repay it. When I asked to see the repair quote/charge she refused saying they didn’t do that it would be repaired next time it was serviced.
I refused to sign the piece of paper she gave me re the damage and said I would report them. She just replied “do what you want”
They put the charge through on my credit card and I’ve taken it up with my bank. I’ve since found out they have also don’t this to a friend of mine and charged her 350 for a scratch UNDER the car which she didn’t do and they were accusing the guy in front of her the same thing.
AVOID at all costs. They need to be reported.
