We are a recently incorporated, highly rated Top 100 golf club in England, we started our relationship with Cambridge & Counties Bank in 2023 and found the onboarding process extremely straight forward. We set up a One Year Bond and have subsequently also opened a 95 Day Account, both offer competitive, agreeable returns. The customer service that we continue to enjoy (and have enjoyed from the start of our relationship) is nothing short of excellent.

We are a small Ltd business which has been operating successfully for 10 years. We opened a one year fixed account with another bank and to spread the risk thought we would open a second one with Cambridge and Counties bank, who at the time were offering a competative interest rate. However, having completed their lengthy application process, we received an email 8 days later to say that it had been 'unsuccessful'. No reason was given other than 'We are limited in the specific details that we can provide, other than to 'advise that we have internal policies in place which are aligned to our terms & conditions, as well as the broader rules and regulations under which we operate.' (what does that even mean!) and that 'there is no additional information that you could provide that would enable us to reconsider this decision.' We requested more detail on why we were unsuccessful and received an email from the Customer Operations Team Leader, which was virtually a cut and paste job from the first email we received! We have never been turned down when applying to open up a deposit account over the years, so I don't know whether this sort of dismissive response is typical of banks in this situation, but it is totally inadequate! It gives the impression that they simply don't want to bother with smaller businesses. Happily we opened an account with another bank straight away who had no such issues, dealt with it quickly and also gave a better rate of interest as CC had reduced theirs! The moral of the story is if you are a small business, think twice about applying to this bank to open a deposit account, as you may well find it a waste of time and effort with no explanation given should they turn you down!
They actually answer the phone when rung with a query., without a wait and music. And the answer was helpful. Must be unique.
Loved it
I applied to this bank for a deposit account for my small limited liability company, registered in the UK. I do business overseas but operate a number of current and deposit accounts all in the UK. All of the banks carried out what I imagine was suitable due diligence and gladly accepted the deposit. I have never sought loans. I have had a personal account with HSBC for 47 years without incident and my company has had current and deposit accounts with them and others for 7 years when I started trading. The published accounts show the asset level which is healthy.
After answering initial questions and providing documents I waited 8 weeks during which I heard nothing save for holding responses to my chasing emails. I was then told my company fell outside the bank’s ‘risk appetite’.
I could possibly accept this decision, although bizarre and unique, but what I find wholly unacceptable and unprofessional is the long delay. This bank appears to be poorly managed, unprofessional in its dealings and is clearly to be avoided.

Opened an account but before you can access it you have to get a verification code by post. Arrived yesterday and I logged on to my account and made a small deposit which is still not showing in the account.
Yesterday I also got a abrupt email from them saying I hadn’t complied with the 5 day deposit terms and min deposit in £10k
I found their email to be quite aggressive so I’ll go somewhere else

I am freelancing as a finance manager for a charity which is financially very secure so we are looking for saving fixed deposit accounts for our reserves. After applying to open an account with Cambridge & Counties Bank, we had to wait for 2 weeks to hear back from them and it seems that their Customer Operations Officer is going through the application one page at a time sending queries one by one for the past 6 weeks. In the same period, we have opened 2 other fixed deposit accounts as we need 3 separate account. The other 2 banks processed the same information and we are already earning on our savings while still waiting for Cambridge & Counties Bank to open the account.
In the past we have had several deposit accounts but never had these issues. I can provide the full details of the Customer Operations Officer , if required.
