Celtic Legend Ltd Car Hire - Outstanding Personalised Service & Perfect Car for Our 2005 mile UK Castle & Cathedral Road Trip!
We recently used Celtic Legend Ltd Car Hire and were so impressed by the personal service and how smoothly everything ran. They’re an independent family run Edinburgh-based broker who work closely with Arnold Clark (who provided our car), but all our arrangements, communication, and support came directly from Celtic Legend, and it made such a difference.
We’re two ancient Australians who rented a recent model Kia Sportage for a 2,005-mile self-drive holiday from Aberdeen to London Heathrow Airport (with no additional fee for the one-way hire). Over 17 days we visited Pitlochry, Inverness, Fort William, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Lincoln, Rochester, Hayling Island, Cardiff, Pembroke (Wales), the Cotswolds, and even Stonehenge, seeing over 30 castles and cathedrals along the way.
The Car, a Kia Sportage
• Comfortable and stable even at motorway speeds (traffic flowed closer to 78 mph than the posted 70 mph).
• Fuel-efficient and quiet: We were genuinely surprised at how little we spent on fuel. Even though our Kia Sportage was a petrol model (not a hybrid), it returned excellent mileage, close to 34 mpg in real-world driving. The engine was so quiet at idle it felt almost silent when stopped.
• Handled narrow one-lane rural roads confidently (we sensibly stayed under 40 mph even though many were posted at 60 mph).
• Real-time speed limit display with alerts, which was invaluable on unfamiliar roads.
• Secure hidden luggage space gave us peace of mind when parked.
• Built-in GPS was generally excellent, though it occasionally chose scenic detours through tiny villages (which added charm!).
Service That Stood Out
Celtic Legend’s team were outstanding throughout:
• Pamela followed up after our trip and confirmed our mileage.
• Steve stayed in touch mid-journey and even gave us an Australian contact number.
• Laura provided clear pick-up and drop-off instructions.
• Archie helped at the start with straightforward pricing and options.
The Aberdeen Arnold Clark branch, where we collected the car, was friendly and efficient, and Celtic Legend had already taken care of the details.
Why We’d Recommend Them
What we appreciated most was the personal attention and clear communication. There were no hidden extras, unlimited mileage was included, and the option of having a free second driver was a real bonus.
They also seem to be well connected to Australia, which made us feel instantly comfortable, Steve even shared an Australian contact number, and their team clearly understood what overseas visitors like us needed when driving in the UK.
In Summary
Celtic Legend Ltd Car Hire coordinated everything seamlessly and were always quick to respond. Their friendly approach, fair pricing, and support throughout our trip made a big difference.

I had such a wonderful experience with Celtic Legend Ltd, from start to finish. Booking was quick and easy, and the team was always so responsive and so kind. They had clear instructions on how to get to the pick-up place, which helped a lot in easing my worries as a tourist. The car was clean and in good condition. We never had any problems during our trip. Drop off was very easy, too. Every member of the team was super helpful. I really did my research on all car rental companies available in Scotland, and I would say that they had the best rates out of all. They were very transparent on all the fees. Before booking, I've seen that they have great reviews, and now I totally understand why.

The service was excellent! The car was brand new, we didn’t have to pay for returning it to a different location than the pickup point, and in Glasgow, they even took us to our hotel with a free shuttle—fantastic!

If you're hiring a car in the UK - this is the company!
Once again, Celtic Legend and Arnold Clark delivered a great experience. This is my fourth time renting a car in the UK with Celtic Legend, and everything was easy.
The reservation process went very smoothly, and there were no issues (prior to departure) when I wanted to extend the trip and the rental - including returning the vehicle to a different location.
This is the second time we've rented a Nissan Qashqai, and it's pretty much the perfect vehicle for us. Plenty of room, some good storage under the rear floor, and a world-class backup/360 camera system for parking in all of those tight UK car parks.
When renting in the UK, I don't even give a thought to other vendors anymore.

From start to finish the staff was responsive and helpful. I had complete trust in their services and was pleased with the rental car they arranged. Celtic Legend saved the day for us
Celtic Legend saved the day for us! We had seen all the recommendations for this company so it was a no-brainer to hire our vehicle from them. There were 5 of us traveling with luggage from the US to England/Scotland for 3+ weeks. So I requested a larger vehicle. When we got there to pick it up, it turned out that our luggage did not fit in the vehicle that I had chosen. They immediately offered 2 solutions. We could get a manual van for the same price or upgrade to a larger wagon type vehicle for an upcharge. We chose the latter and they gave us a break on the price and moved us to the new vehicle quickly and efficiently.
I should also mention that, while still trying to figure out our itinerary, I originally booked the car for the whole time. Then I realized that, since we were ending our trip with 4 days in London, we really did not need the vehicle those last few days. I emailed my request to shorten my rental agreement with they quickly agreed to! Great vehicles and great customer service!!

Reliable and competitive rates
I found Celtic Legend to be very reliable and honest about their charges. The process for hiring can be tedious, but they did their best to simplify things. Their rates are competitive and the car provided was virtually new. All in all a good experience. One thing to bear in mind: purchase waiver of excess to give peace of mind.

Legendary Service with a smile.
From start to finish, the experience with Celtic Legend was legendary! The cherry on top was the extra mile they went for us when our flight was delayed, and we missed our connecting flight to Inverness. This put us 4 hours past their closing. When we called to ask for suggestions, they briefly put us on hold and asked if anyone was willing to stay and deliver our vehicle to the airport. One young man agreed. He met us at the Inverness Airport with our vehicle around 10:30 pm, and he was super nice. Unfortunately, after about 30 hours without sleep, we did not get his name. My only regret is that we didn't tip him more! We highly recommend Celtic Legend!
