Do not book Chalet Rippon or you will be ripped off should you have any problems
I booked a chalet through ChaletFinder—specifically Chalet Riparian, owned by Beth—and initially had a very smooth experience, with the owner being responsive and helpful when securing the booking and taking the deposit.
However, the situation since then has been extremely disappointing.
Due to a serious family matter, I cancelled the booking just a few weeks after confirming—over 11 months before the scheduled stay. I was reassured at the time that the chalet would be easily rebooked and that my deposit would be returned.
Four weeks on, I have received no refund, and all attempts to contact the owner have failed, with emails now bouncing back and no response through other channels.
While I understand that ChaletFinder positions itself as a listing platform, situations like this raise serious concerns about the level of oversight and accountability expected from owners advertised on the site.
Based on this experience, I would urge others to proceed with caution, particularly when it comes to deposits and communication after payment has been made.
Should the owner honour what was agreed and process the refund, I will happily update or amend this review to reflect that outcome.
