Wasn't too bad back when it started but since Rogers took it over it is really problematic getting issues resolved. Oh well I still have a good basic plan for Canadian use.

I signed up with a promotion
I signed up with a promotion, one month free. I get a text that tells me to respond YES to get my free month credited. I do, and get a response: "this offer is no longer available." I've been on the phone, on hold, for 50 minutes. I call the store. They need me to come in to see what is doing with my account!!! When I enrolled on the website (to try that avenue) it said that it didn't recognize my email, when I put in my personal details it said it would send a confirmation code . . . to the email it said was not registered. Oh gosh. I'm in trouble!!!! They don't publish their email address, either. And if you resolve a problem on the phone, they charge you $8....for their mistake!!!

contacted chatr a while ago about getting text messages from a numbey, they blocked the number, tried another phone and a new phone ,same issue.

Chatr use to be a great alternative to the big guys prices, now they're simply terrible.
You use to be able to get ahold of customer services, 611, very easily. Now the standard wait time it would seem is 2 hours, if you don't get hung up on. They is no way to fix most of your technical issues yourself, the auto system will keep directing you to their website, which is simply useless. I have been with Chatr for years, now, I will never recommend again. Payments bounce, there offer is to switch your debit card, who has a new debit card for every month? Ridiculous. If you a payment did not go through, you cannot simply pay it online in your account, you have to call 611, I have been on hold again for over an hour as I type this.
I know times are tough and people want to save money, but Chatr isn't worth it anymore
No service
The rest of our household phones are through Fido. When I was signing up my son there, they suggested a promotion offered by Chatr and told me, servicewise, it was basically the same thing. It was okay until he lost his phone. We got a new device, went to Chatr kiosk, set up and put in a new sim card, but it has never worked. He can't read or send texts (they appear when others text him as "unable to download." If he makes a call out, it says "call ended." If you try to call him, it says he's not available. I've been back to the kiosk twice, and they just told me my payment was expired and if I paid for another month, it would start working, but it never did. I'm going to get him a Fido plan, but I resent paying for 2 months of no service as well as all the time I've wasted trying to manage the account through their website that comes up with a new excuse every time to not let me in.

You are cheap and easy to deal with I wasn't impressed once when you guys got me to buy a certain plan that ended up being a five dollar credit towards the next purchase that I didn't need so I felt tricked into paying more then I needed to buy also you gave my phone number away after just two months of no service and I really liked my phone number I could memorize it so easy and now I'm stuck with a number that I'll probably never remember and it sucks not being able to give people my phone number I just have to take theirs and when I'm trying to fill out an order online I never know my number and it's been really hard on me
Data is toooooo slow
I've been with chatr for quite awhile now, and I never had any problems that were so bad I'd complain about, but now ever since they switched the data service (when we all had to register again and reset our phones about a monthish ago) the connection has been terrible!! It takes forever to load anything and has become a major inconvenience

They have the most pathetic UX and have no alternative solution. You have to wait 30 min online to connect with an agent. Every month you try to recharge online there's a new problem.
Mobile data is complete trash
I created an account here just to review this company and warn others about how bad it is. I pay for 50GB of data per month and I may as well have none. The data is so slow. I watch videos on the lowest resolution and it still takes forever to get through one video and it stops and spins countless times. I just joined and I'm leaving at the end of the month.
Worst support
I have the worst, terrible experience of my life on there support…I’ve started to call 10am in the morning when it’s open and untill 6pm no one is answering, nothing at all, this company doesn’t care to there costumers…I am really regretting that I used this CHATR, the worst support I’ve ever experienced…please stay away to this mobile company…

No service anywhere…. Good luck getting a hold of them if you need anything. They take payments out at different times every month and charge you for it if you don’t have money that day they decide to take it out, called so many times to wait on hold for 48 minutes for them to hangup on me.. never ever going with this company again

Trying to contact customer service
Trying to contact customer service, 3 days now and still can't get through. All I want to do is update my payment method. They are trying to get everyone to do things online but I prefer a real person. This company is a nightmare to deal with, didn't used to be. I'm a 9 year customer but now I'm switching my carrier.

This is the worst company I have ever had any service, I had a phone for my daughter, I was managing, then the service was down, I tried to get online to check the account and they created a new MFA that send the confirmation to this numer that is out, and I can't manage the account or transfer the number, the customer service is more than 1 hour out.

taking money for no services
I have pay as you go, they have access to my card and I have been paying them amounts that was never agreed to PLUS I have had no service for almost 2 weeks!!!
They provide no customer service and they have taken money from me that was not authorised.

my phone is out of service and i was on hold for two hours so far (and still waiting). Chatrwireless deduct my payments direct from my account. i pay for three phones in my family but that is about to change. if this is how Chatr deal with their customers then i want nothing more to do with them.

I’ve been waiting all day on my day off to speak to an agent, the website is horrible. I just want to speak to someone why have I been trying since 9:30am it’s now 3pm I’m still on hold after waiting so long you keep hanging up this has happened 3 times already

if something goes wrong, they won't help you. Their customer service is a joke. Wait times are 1 hour plus, then the person who answers will not be able to help you. Absolutely awful. Rogers, who owns Chatr, needs money to pay for all the Toronto sports teams that they own, and they will extract it from you any way they can.
The worst part is since they f'd up my wife's cell number (it wasn't ported in properly and isn't "attached" to an account), a phone number she has had for 30 years, I can't leave until they fix it, and no one there knows how to fix it. And there is no dealer support from Chatr either. The Mobile Shop has phoned numerous times on my behalf, and they still have to wait at least 1.5 hours to get someone (this is Chatr's "express dealer line!"), and when they finally reach someone, at the end of the call they refer it to the "back office" (hahaha what back office?) just like when I call. There is no way to fix a problem there. Period.
They finally fixed the problem on October 8, 2024, but I had to get CCTS involved to get them to fix it.
Chatr is a prepaid phone service provider just a reminder
I was with Chatr for quite a few years. I haven't been for about 2 years as some catch the customer deal and laziness to switch back stopped me from going back to them. My ONE complaint when I was their customer was that it always says picture and video messaging was included, no matter how much or little data I had, that was never the case. I not one time in a good solid 3 years ever sent a photo or video via text message.
BUT I still remained with them for years cause it is not a bad service by any means. And I have a few things to say to all the bad reviewers.... You do know this is a prepaid service right? That it's a sub service off of a larger cooperation that if you're so butt hurt why not just sign with rogers or telus or... If you're expecting class A prepaid cell service then that's your expectations that are the problem. Some of the reasons on the bad reviews are so easily fixed by going on a term plan with a contract but wait....
Maybe you can't cause your credit is poop, Chatr is great for that they don't check your credit and if you can pay per month SUPER no losing money on their end or racking up a phone bill you can't pay damaging your credit.
Maybe you are a sneaky link and you need a separate cell phone and can't leave a paper trail to it... Chatr is great for that TOO! As one clerk at the metro town mall superstore kiosk said,
"Give me any name it doesn't matter you could say your name is Robert Pattinson."
So also something you won't find in a term plan.
But all this aside if you really want to find something to beak about switch to lucky mobile. That's my current prepaid provider and they are every bit as crappy as their "friends at Bell" who owns them. They are completely awful and my Chatr sim/top up is en route to me as we speak. Will arrive on Monday.
If Chatr is still the same or is now the worst company therefore kicking Lucky out of the first place spot, it will be determined however there's a boat load more prepaid cell services to shuffle to if that is the case but my expectations aren't over the moon cause I know what I am paying for and what I am not. Also they run off of rogers old network towers and don't piggy back off of their owners towers so I don't even know who's going off about network connection cause I never had that issue in the lower mainland. And there was never a bad customer service experience I ever had, even after I switched I called to let them know someone was trying to use them as a means to scam people out of money, I called waited not long at all and was met with a friendly tone, I could tell he was tired of hearing this, but assured me they were aware of the situation and hoped I hadn't fallen victim to it and that was that. Some y'all make stuff up for the hell of complaining I swear.
