The country fair was terribly organised. It was absolutely packed solid and was horrendous. The Marshalls were bossy and rude and obnoxious.
Will not be going again for sure. To add to our overheated misery, it took us 2 hours just to leave the awful place.

Chatsworth House is being destroyed…

Chatsworth House is being destroyed with modern art
When it is a country house
The people want to see the Victorian styles and decor and that's what they come for
They should not be putting modern art in the house it is sickening.

Misleading online gift page

I ordered a Chatsworth afternoon tea gift voucher for friends, thinking it was for two. Our friends attended Chatsworth to use the voucher only to be told the voucher was for one person only! REALLY? Who charges £49.50 for one person, and does not make it crystal clear on the web page (states for one further down the page). The illustration gives you the impression that the voucher covers two persons, and the narrative on order states 'X1' which can be misconstrued as if you are simply ordering one voucher. C'mon Chatsworth, get your act together as I'm sure Trading Standards and the Advertising Standards Authority would have something to say about the way you are selling. I've now had to order another 'single' voucher for our friends as we did not disappoint them. Never again will we order from Chatsworth - complete rip off.

not great!

Comments about big profits being made, totally agree with. We had lunch with our dog with us in what can only be described as very second rate area, food quite good . Then moved onto the garden experience which was quite under whelming. £15.50 each was what we had read but did expect a senior discount but no! How many attractions don't ,offer this? Then the gardens themselves! Not spectacularly formal or a nice forest walk but somewhere between with loads and loads of slabs stacked on top of each other. not my idea of a pleasant day out. Garden price way out!

Chatsworth always a good experience

Chatsworth always a good experience. The staff are wonderful and as l have mobility problems at the moment being able to use a scooter, has been marvellous.
The addition of music always makes for an exciting atmosphere and the children are fascinated by the sound and lovely tunes from the barrel organ.
Sincere thanks.

♥️ Chatsworth, however the food on offer needs a huge overhaul.

I love Chatsworth, and would like to give 10 stars. The Adventure Playground is great for children of most ages, the gardens are outstanding, the grounds are wonderful for exploring. I loved the Christmas themes too.
The catering on site isn’t great, and I think a reassessment is required. The large canteen is utilitarian. There is very little choice and it’s a bit like a school canteen from the’70’s. Individual food outlets at events, i,e, this weekends plant fair, were poor. The Greek Food van, served very little in the way of Greek food. I chose salad (lettuce &tomatoes),chips and chicken. The chicken was dry and sliced, didn’t have any sauce or seasoning, not even salt was available. The Tzatziki was underwhelming. I don’t believe the two caterers had a clue about real Greek food.
I haven’t eaten at the other restaurant, which is in the corner of a courtyard.
There are many great places to visit in the area, and the food is often poor.(Haddon Hall, unbelievably poor).
I’d love you to really have a good look at what you’re serving, and the huge improvements that could be made.

Xmas not as good as it has been

Going to Chatsworth just after Christmas is a little family tradition of ours which we have started over the last few years. In previous years Chatsworth has been the best place to drag out Christmas that little longer, with beautiful decorations, lights, good and ambiance.

Not this year though. The outdoor light trail was incredibly boring.
It wasn’t the level of 2 years ago, but it was more expensive (that’s before we get onto the £6 watered down mulled wine and cider!). I’m so glad we didn’t book the house. What was worse thought was the lights around the house were worse again this year, with the courtyard being a husk of what it once was.

I get that we all need to make cut backs at the moment, but I really wouldn’t do that at xmas. I only hope it doesn’t impact them further down the year as the house and grounds are lovely during the year.

Visited Chatsworth for Afternoon Tea and loved every minute. The service was great from all the staff and the variety of cakes was tasty, the sorbet was delicious. Finished off with a walk through the lighted gardens and thought they looked enchanting.

Unusually underwhelming!

After enjoying our visits to Chatsworth every Christmas, apart from Lockdown, this years visit was sadly very dissapointing. Nothing out of the ordinary apart from quite a number of Christmas trees. The only evidence of a Nordic theme was the recorded sound effects of a howling wind rattling around the house. Visit over in 40 mins. Won't be returning next year sadly.

Wouldn’t even give it a one star tbh

Wouldn’t even give it a one star tbh. In patchy but dense fog took us nearly two hours to get there instead of 1.15 minutes normally. Our slot was 6.30 pm. We arrived at the destination at 6.35 pm . The last time slot chosen (due to my daughter travelling from London) to spend Christmas with me. This was to be the start of Christmas for us. By the time we found the entrance (no signs), together with two other ladies at 6.40 pm the gates were locked and we were refused entry. The staff couldn’t have given a damn even though we were regular visitors and all explained our travel problems. We are talking minutes here, not hours! We were refused access to the shop as well, even though people were in there. We were given access to the gardens which tbh weren’t worth the walk , just a few underlights under various trees and with the fog was more suited to a Halloween visit. It annoyed me though that at 7.00 pm we observed the lights were still on with people walking around the house.
I am thoroughly disgusted at our treatment and after another two hours in dreadful fog, arrived home. Customer service Chatsworth House , a big ZERO. Unfortunately cannot comment on Christmas decor in the house as refused entry. Appalled by their customer service . Will not be revisiting.

Huge disappointment and waste of money

After watching it on TV I have always wanted to visit and this year managed to bag a ticket. Took daughter and her friends, £75 and a 2.5 hour drive for a vastly under decorated experience. Just trees and little else, no visible theme at all and then in 45 mins (and we walked slowly) it was over! £22.50 for 5 hot chocs with a bit of squirty cream whilst we killed some time befor illuminated garden which was ok. Honestly wish I hadn't bothered, am so disappointed after waiting so long to see it

Very poor Christmas decorations

Very poor Christmas decorations. Aside from a few Christmas trees decorations were bland & rooms barely decorated. Have been going for last 10 years & this was a pitiful show. Poor theme & barely any decorations. For £29 per adult our group of 5 won’t be going again. A shame because it’s one of our Christmas traditions but felt like a rip off.

Do not buy the membership

If you are considering a Chatsworth membership, think again. The whole point in having the £315 membership is so that you can visit as you please. Through the November and December Christmas period we (a family of x4) have been unable to visit, at all. Not even at the Christmas markets. We have been attempting to book ahead a few days in advance for each weekend (which we shouldn't have to do) but the slots are always sold out until late in the day. We have complained to Chatsworth on multiple occasions but all we have received are rude, blunt replies. Refusing to address fact that we have pre-paid and should therefore have priority booking. One staff member even told me if we get the bus (over an hour journey) then we would be able to visit. Absolute joke. They have our money and we are receiving no benefit.

Disappointing

Finally made it to Chatworth lights after recommendations over the years. Sadly I was very disappointed, the decorations were nice, but not worth driving 1hr for. I bought a mulled wine for £6 and it was awful, Coke had definitely been added to it. I really hope the quality improves next year. A few of my friends and family have also been and came back with the same feedback. Disappointing…

Such a beautiful grand house

Such a beautiful grand house, with or without Christmas decs, however went today, and was sadly disappointed as it looks nothing like I expected after seeing it on TV with Christmas decs, quite bland sad to say, waiting time for restaurants was long, and out of stock on fast foods, sad to say I will be watching from the comfort of my tv in the future, with a festive drink or two💞🎄💞

Feeling cheated

We'd heard about the Christmas market from family that had been previously so were very excited to come!
We called to book tickets for the Christmas market, booked a day off work and five of us drove 3 hours only to be told it had finished last week. One lovely member of staff told us that she'd had the same issue with other people so clearly the website is misleading and staff working phones are also misinformed. Sadly Jean on the garden entry booth was not as friendly, instead she was extremely blunt, offering no apology or alternative, blaming us for the mistake, despite having phoned to ensure we had the right dates/tickets.

The gardens themselves were beautiful and all other staff were kind and helpful, hence the 2 stars.

The illuminated garden walk was lackluster and did not live up to descriptions. A few lights, one smoke machine and music in one area only.
Considering the prices and misinformation, we felt very cheated and quite shocked. We made the best of it but couldn't believe we weren't even offered an apology!
