Easy to find the companies for the work required

Jack did an amazing job with my mouse problem. He was able to attend very soon after I called, and on first visit investigated the property thoroughly, laid bait and traps, answered my endless questions, and explained clearly all the logic behind what he was doing and what the further plan would be, which I found very reassuring. On second visit external proofing was completed and he answered lots more questions. I was quite anxious about the mice and Jack has given me a great deal of peace of mind, on top of all the practical knowledge and solutions!

Trustworthy and reliable. They did a great job. Would have back again.

Had all doors and windows done. Quality is second to none. Got 3 quotes as recommended. I got more window openings, beautiful chrome handles, amazing composite door, knocker, letterbox opening; all for the best price. Communication was amazing, messaged and either get an immediate message back or a phone call really quickly. Nothing seemed too much trouble. I wouldn’t definitely recommend +++

My personal experience with Checkatrade has been extremely disappointing.

Last year, when work was quiet, I signed up because I believed it was a pay-as-you-go service. I was later charged £36 a month, which wasn’t what I believed I’d agreed to. I contacted them, asked to cancel, and my monthly fee was reduced to £0, so I genuinely believed my account had been closed.

Because I thought it was all over, I deleted the app and blocked their emails.

Fast forward 12 months, and I’ve suddenly started receiving two or three phone calls a day asking me to pay £36 a month because my account had automatically renewed. I had no idea this had happened.

I’ve contacted them repeatedly asking to cancel, but they’ve refused. After several stressful phone calls, the best they offered was to reduce the fee to £12 a month for a service I don’t want, don’t need, and won’t use.

To make matters worse, during a call with a member of the cancellations team today, I felt I was spoken to dismissively and even believed they were sniggering at me while I was trying to explain my situation. That only added to the frustration and stress of the whole experience.

This has been my personal experience, and I’m sharing it so other tradespeople can make sure they fully understand the terms, especially any automatic renewal conditions, before signing up.

I’ve used checkatrade a few times recently and they give me access to professionals in various areas. I always do my own reviews of those I choose, but definitely a good starting point.

What can I say.. a few companies didn’t respond after initial txt. Then work got done by a fella that was friendly and Professional.

Find a wonderful plasterer who turned up when he said and finished the job in a day to a very high standard.

Sadly, I think this is only an average Service. The reason for that is because when you try to leave feedback for some reason you can’t and I’ve tried multiple times which then makes you question how legitimate feedback in fact is when you’re unable to leave it.

It’s a personal preference. I just find other apps available are more user-friendly and overall I receive a better response..
