About 4 stalls actually selling cheese
And around 6 or so street food vendors outside, all of course expensive but understable, there were about 4 other stalls selling other stuff as well
Just disappointing and no way worth £8 for a ticket, I feel ripped off that the organisers have obviously made a killing on the tickets and have not put any care into making it an actual cheese fest, honestly from an honest straight person, don't waste your time,
Someone else should be putting these cheese fests on, not whoevers doing them now
For months I have been looking forward…
For months I have been looking forward to Cheese Fest UK at the Bath & West, what I can say is, whoever organised this has great social media skills but no event organisation skills. Your event is false advertising all the way, and on a much smaller scale than Fyre Festival.
To be welcomed by cheese is an understatement, the hall was small and cold, a total of 4 cheese vendors with barely any tasting available and when you could get samples it was unhygienic. In total another 4 hot food ‘cheese’ stalls awaiting - no halloumi and no racclette as the event stated.
What amazed me is the experience that was sold was vastly misleading, stepping in to the smallest cheese market in the world where majority of stalls were in fact not cheese and witnessing various children’s disappointment at the fact that the promised children’s area was abysmal. The very small, amateur projector supposedly screening films was also not working and the poor musician trying to raise the very small crowds spirits was just embarrassing. I will list a few other inadequacies that should entitle all attendees a full refund although the terms and conditions that cheesefest UK has implemented is ‘no refund policy’, which as stated in the terms and conditions is not effective as the event was miss sold.
No Marshall’s
No directions
Two small surf flags by the entrance as advertising
Limited cheese stalls
Limited tasting experience
Unhygienic tasting
Barely a children’s area
No screening of Wallace and gromit
Open space and hardly any stands
The stall holders reputations being damaged
Experience = 0
Return on investment = 0 (except for the event organiser who is raking in The cash and most likely laughing at getting away with this joke of an event)
And to top it off, cheesefest UK have ignored 2 emails, 2 Facebook direct messages, several Facebook post comments which has led me to contact both Aardman animation as they are affiliated with this event and also trading standards to try and get a refund and close this sham of an event down!
Left after 25 minutes
I was so disappointed to turn up to a Smokey warehouse with very little cheese stalls!
Like everyone else has said already, this event really was rubbish!!!
Please don't pay to go to this!
If you read the 5 star reviews, they are from the same few people, so they shouldn't count!!!
An insult to the UK cheese industry
An insult to the UK cheese industry.
As an award winning cheesemaker myself, I was Incredibly disappointed with the event I attended at the Bath & West showground (home of the British Cheese Awards).
There were no cheesemakers at the “artisan” cheese market. Instead, there were a hand full of stalls selling cheese they seemingly bought wholesale at a car boot sale.
The ticket price was totally unjustified as the whole event closely resembled a jumble sale raising money for the new church roof appeal. Within 15 minutes of arriving we had Already walked around the cold, half-empty shed and seen everything.
I have emailed CheesefestUk to request a full refund but They, as yet, have chosen not to reply.
Avoid at all cost!
A truly terrible experience
A truly terrible experience. We went along hoping for a fun day out, a few drinks perhaps, to wash down lots of cheesy loveliness. No Chance! Very few stalls - perhaps 8 cheese stalls in total, that offered the slimmest of slim slivers to taste, or my favourite, scraping it with a fork so a taster consisted of 2 or 3 rolled grains, nay dust(!) of cheese, plus a scone stall (we purchased 3 for £9) which turned out to be large lumps of flavourless bread that decorated the bird table by 4pm, and a few sweetie stalls. Entire "festival" done in 5 minutes, you looked to the food stalls - forget it. Already long queues of disgruntled customers desperately looking to rescue something for the drive/cost. Anyone who took their children should probably consider an extra present for them this Christmas in an effort to build up trust again.Truly. Sadly. Shocking.
More cheese at Tesco than at Cheesefest
Like many others, We too found it a little disappointing and underwhelming! We basically paid £10 to walk around a smoky shed! The number of actual cheese stalls was pitiful and the whole Wallace and Gromit element was completely under-played. Why did our ticket price not include a little gift like a sample pack of crackers?! We had booked the 10-12 entry slot and by 9:45 when the majority of people started arriving, they weren’t set up or prepared for us at all. We were told to form a queue that kind of snaked around the entrance but, once people started to be admitted, mob mentality ruled and order went out the window!
Do NOT attend these events
Do NOT attend these events. They are not as advertised and when you try and contact the company they ignore you or block you on social media. Appalling customer service and a total non-event. Trading standards need to get involved to prevent them taking anyone elses money. Absolute sham!
Don’t waste you time or money
Honestly the biggest waste of time and money. At £8 per ticket, I had high expectations from the advertisement on Facebook. I actually left the event and went off to the local supermarket to get some more cheese as I was left underwhelmed and limited in choice. Poorly organised and all round shoddy. Avoid at all costs.
Don’t bother!
If you’re planning on visiting the Cheesefest UK, don’t waste your time!
Myself and my friend attended today at the Norfolk Showground, and to say we were disappointed would be an understatement.
A handful of cheese stalls, and probably the same number selling completely unrelated food products (not sure how that works at a CHEESEfest)!
The street food stalls were advertised as including melted raclette, cheese wheels, and mozzarella sticks, NONE of which were there!!
I wanted to leave a review on their Facebook page, however it appears that this option has been removed. Having read other reviews on here, I can only assume this is to save them deleting all the bad comments they will have gotten.
As a cheese lover, it is definitely not worth it!! We were there for the grand total of 50 minutes!
You’ll have more cheesey choice visiting your local supermarket!
Avoid!
My friend and I attended the cheese fest earlier today, we purchased our tickets in August for £7 each. Upon arrival we were confused as there was no signs for directions for where the festival was. Inside we were ‘greeted’ by members of staff who continued to talk amongst themselves as they handed us wristbands. When entering the room was filled with smoke and over crowded with people. The seating was piled so tightly together people were pushing to get a seat. They did not need to be this close. The entertainment was far too loud you couldn’t hear a thing over it, not very sociable! And then to put Wallace and Gromit on a small projector screen that couldn’t be heard, I suppose this related back to the Wallace and Gromit theme we were sold.
The room contained a handful of cheese stalls, which didn’t contain anything out of the ordinary, we could’ve saved our money and gone to the deli counter at Tesco for the same selection (if not more). The stalls were staffed short who had no patience, as you approached they asked you as to what you want, and if you did not know at that moment in time they would go straight back to staring at their phones, not great customer service at all.
This was such a waste of time and money, we did not even leave with any cheese! We both ate from the mac and cheese waffle stall, which had run out of bacon, at 11am, surely not long after opening!
I can’t imagine what a disappointment this must have been for parents with young children who were promised so much more than a person dressed as Wallace carrying a Gromit teddy, ready for photos.
This experience was entirely a waste of time, we only spent the best part of an hour wondering around, not sure what to do. As someone who only has one day off a week I am sorely disappointed that I spent my free time, and time with a friend there.
After the two of us posted reviews on the Facebook page for the Norwich Cheesefest they were quickly deleted and we were blocked, we only said how disappointing this was - nothing abusive or rude, just the truth of how we felt.
The staff clearly do not care that people have wasted time and money on this event, and will take the money and continue to do the same to many others.
Do not waste your time attending, go to a local farmers market for much more variety - and much cheaper!
AWFUL EVENT - Deletes and block negative comments :)
Wow we left this laughing...at the fact we just wasted £10 each for such a **** show.
We left after about 40 minutes, and that included having something to eat. Such an insult to have payed for this, ESPECIALLY when Norwich has one of the most amazing market places (most likely with more cheese for sale!!) AND ITS FREE TO ENTER!
The lack of cheese for sale really showed ,due to the fact that you could barely get your elbows in to look at the cheese stalls (maybe 4 or 5 of them? If that? More brownies and sauces etc).
No sign posting when driving up to the event (bad start), staff uninterested, smoke filled room, poor quality seating, activity area tiny, seating area crammed together (making it uncomfortable to walk through and ask people to move), one man band was terrible (sorry to this gentleman, but it was) couldn’t hear or even SEE Wallace and Gromit being played due to the poor quality equipment.
I could go on and on, but you must get the picture that it was just terrible. It would be great as a free event, but unacceptable for a payed event. Thank god we didn’t have children with us, feel sorry for families and those who travelled far. Atleast we are local and just carried on with the rest of our day, and had a laugh about it (what else can you do?!)Not so funny if you have a long journey and children.
Had a check online and found the trust pilot reviews and thought it strange there were none on Facebook. Went on at one point and saw a lady had expressed her disappointment ,not long later it had been deleted. Had a theory they had done this themselves, so commented a near identically comment and sure enough,it was deleted and I was blocked from following their page!!! Friend did the same and sure enough got blocked too :) so not an error, they are actively hiding negative comments. No decent and moral company would do this to PAYING customers who express their disappointment!!! No doubt all these positive reviews on here were payed for by the company, or people are seriously lying to themselves! But seems strange that most of them are their first review, and people only post on trust pilot if it’s horrendous or outstanding, and I can’t imagine anyone thinking that was outstanding!!!
So yeah **** the organisers of this event for misleading customers. This is not your first time doing this,so you know the poor effort you are putting in and don’t care to improve it or resolve customer complaints!!
Please if you read this, believe the negative reviews!! Save your money ,there are plenty of things to do for free (which won’t leave you angry and wasting time on your day off).Don’t feed any more money to these people.
Terrible
Today me and my family (partner, 2 children and grandparents) came to your “cheese fest” in Norwich. May I start with the extortionate price charged, over £40 for all our entries. We didn’t quibble at this price at all off the initial advert which drew us in, it seemed well worth the money. On arrival into the freezing cold shed, which was so smokey it made my children’s eyes water and all of us cough, it wasn’t a good start. We got in dead on 12 o’clock, and noticed Wallace and his stuffed toy gromit, both which had seen better days were out for people to see. This was the main draw for my children, unfortunately they only stayed out for 5 minutes, by which point the massive queue had barely dissipated. Cue two unhappy children.... the Wallace and gromit area was filthy and worn out, with so little for them to look at, the bowling had no pins, the fencing around it was so unsafe, it was totally unsecured, and actually tipped over onto people at one point. If this had fallen onto one of my children I hate to think!! So we continued on, more disappointment at the handful (possibly 8) cheese stalls, begrudgingly given the tiniest samples from vendors who had no interest in talking about the products. The rest of the stalls were massively overpriced food, or non cheese related sweets and cakes. Seating was poorly laid out for the music, the little bit of a film shown by overhead projector was unwatchable due to the screen blowing about. The variety of beers and wine was a joke, I spotted a cider shack, a peroni pump, and some very very small samples of wine. We couldn’t do the animation modelling as it was constantly full for the whole 2 hours. On the way out we looked forward to getting our free tshirt as promised. They had all gone. If you don’t get the point by now, we were so disappointed with our day out which we’d all been looking forward to so much. We feel totally robbed to be honest, and don’t know really what we paid for.
Absolutely poor bare faced liars…
Absolutely poor bare faced liars completely amped up online to be something it's not was confused to see people leaving so early as we arrived at the bath and West showground barely any cheese barely wallace and gromit to pay £20 to get in with such extortionate prices from vendors!! We payed £20 to stay somewhere for 10 minutes have emailed and requested a refund poor show!!
Very poor
Very poor, a few market stalls in a windy shed at the Bath & West Showground, more cheese available at Asda than at this show and I paid to get in! Ardman Animations should be ashamed to be associated with this, a few Wallace & Grommit cut outs to get a photo with and one person dressed up - avoid, go to your local farmers market for free and get a better experience
Poor
Thankfully I bought early bird tickets, but STILL not really worth the money. Stalls were good, but to sell it as a Wallace and Gromit Fest aswell was not honest. Crummy display. Rocket and Wrong trousers constantly falling over, as were the fences. The one man band was APPALLING!! Loud, intrusive and not an ounce of talent.
Very poor ☹️
Basically a farmer's market that cost £22 to enter 😳 Luckily I had comp tickets after Edinburgh was cancelled! Parking was extortionate and there were no characters to see or entertainment for the kids - bar a film playing in a tiny screen in the corner. We lasted 30 minutes and left. Hugely disappointed
Glasgow
Glasgow - not great, be better going to a farmers market or even your local supermarket. Pretty poor.
Take heed!!! Don’t go!!!!!
They gave you a wrist band for reentry. I have no idea why anyone would want to spend more than ten minutes, let alone go back in. Utter crap. There were no free samples, no sign of Wallace and Gromit and the parking was extortionate. The absolute brass neck to charge for such a pile of crap is astounding. A few stalls, a noise from a one man band and an almighty stink of cheese that smelled of bottoms. Don’t bother!!!
V few stalls selling cheese ie around 8…
V few stalls selling cheese ie around 8 . Yes that all there was. Parking 11 quid 11 quid for tickets and more cheese and any food market. Love cheese? Well no point in going here!!
Wish I could give it 0 stars
Wish I could give it 0 stars, what a load of rubbish and for £22! For the family ticket. Went to the Glasgow event today, was just a small dirty room in the sec with a few over priced stalls some selling cheese and others selling chutneys, and pasties etc. The kids in my group got an animation pack after we asked as there was no room to sit at the tables to join in on the activity. We asked about a meet and greet with Wallace and gromit and got shrugged shoulders from the employees. Didn't have lunch there either as it was £7 for a cheese toastie! So basically we paid £22 for a few cheese samples and for the kids to stick there heads in Wallace and gromit cut outs and to sit in a beat up car! We lasted 40 mins, before we left and headed into town for lunch. Absolute rip off! Dont waste ur money as most of the stuff it states it has it doesn't!
