Beware of hidden costs

I took an art deco light fitting in for chroming. We agreed a price of £200 for the work. I thought that was a little steep but I wanted it done. Several weeks later after a several phone calls and e-mail it was ready.
The original quote of £200 went up to £420. When I questioned it I was told that an addition £100 was added for wiring and there was VAT on that which apparently I was told when I tool it in. I may have been told about VAT but I don't recall it, but i wasn't informed of and additional £100 for wiring it.

Now I am not complaining about the quality of the work, the light looks great. But it took an inordinate amount of time to do the job and was certainly NOT told about the extra £100 + Vat for wiring.

So beware!! if you use this firm ask for a written estimate, I didn't and wasn't able to adequately challenge the NEW price for this work.....and it did take a LONG time to do the job

Thank you for your positive comments regarding the outcome and final finish of your restoration, and for recognising how good the chrome plating now looks on your Art Deco light.

Unfortunately, quality restoration and plating work takes time, and both the estimated lead time and price were clearly stated and agreed before we undertook this particular job.

We fully dispute your comments regarding the finial price. Our charges reflect the specialist nature of the work carried out and achieved, furthermore the costs required to enable us to refinish these parts in the first place I.e. The dismantling and assembling costs. Again these were given before any work was undertaking to ensure you could make an informed and fully costed decision.

We are proud to have a multitude of positive Google reviews from satisfied customers, which we believe demonstrate the quality, value, and service we consistently provide.

We thank you for your business and are pleased that you are happy with the finished result. We trust you will enjoy your beautifully restored Art Deco light for many years to come.
