I’ve been a Clearpay customer since November 2019 — almost 7 years — and I have never missed a payment. I’ve always paid on time and often paid early.
My spending limit was £1,500 for years, then on 9 July 2026 it was suddenly reduced to £600. I contacted Clearpay and was told it was an automatic decision and nothing could be done.
Yesterday, 20 August, it was reduced again to just £200.
I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed. After nearly seven years of being a responsible customer with a perfect payment history, it’s difficult to understand how my limit can be reduced so drastically without any clear explanation.
I was also told that TransUnion was involved and advised to contact them, which I don’t understand when Clearpay is the company deciding my spending limit.
I really feel that my years of loyalty and responsible payments should count for something. At this point, £200 makes the account almost pointless, which is a shame because I’ve genuinely enjoyed using Clearpay.

I have used Clearpay services for a few years and built my limit to £2000 by doing exactly what they asked of me as a customer. Then without warning a few months ago they reduced my limit by half to £1000 and have now done this again from £1000 to £700.
I now don’t have any confidence in using their services going forward, which I am sure they are not remotely concerned about and was probably the intention but as with all banks and financial institutions, they just do what they want and you have no recourse.
***The reply they sent below regarding a response was nonsense, the response had nothing to do with my complaint about them reducing the credit limit. I think their responses are AI generated and possibly the credit limit reviews/reduction are an AI program. I hope their actions with long term, reliable customers comes back to bite them, unless they are actively trying to reduce the business they are doing, if so they are doing a great job. For myself, I no can no longer trust or reply on Clearpay and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

I dont understand clearpay.
I have been a customer of there's for several years.
I had a credit limit of £2,000 and have never defaulted on any payments. In fact I've paid off my orders in advance. But today my credit limit has gone down to £300 from £2,000 today. It was only last week they reduced my credit limit from £2,000 to £1,400.
But today they have reduced my credit limit right now to £300
What's that all about???
I spent several years building up a professional relationship with clearpay and they without any notification and without any logical reason reduce my spending power.
No point trying to communicate with them on the app. They will just ignore you as they have done to me today.
Also there chat bot is redicolous and takes you around in circles.
I'm extremely anoid clear pay have reduced my £2,000 credit limit to £1,400 and have again today reduced my credit limit to a silly amount of £300 to spend. Im sorry but that's not acceptable and I will close my account with you.

Absolute Cowboys, I have used Clearpay for years and had a £2000 credit limit and me thinking I was doing well always paid off any balance very quickly.
Welllll it appears if you do this you are punished for being a good customer and they dropped my credit to £600 then down to £200.
Their algorithm sees you have not kept up your exact payment dates and screws you over even though you paid them in full.. (just google it).
Way to treat your loyal customers.
They can keep their credit and I will just pay up front for anything I would have used them for.
As fully expected I received a AI generated response which if you look through all the feedback is exactly the same or a copy and paste further showing what people are saying they do not even have the decency to respond to you as a human on a one to one basis.

I have used clearpay for a substantial amount of time and never missed a payment or a late payment. For no reason whatsoever my account was closed down, I have recently spoken with Nicol who was most helpful but explained to me clearpay decided to close my account without telling me due to a credit search. Where is the fairness here when I have never missed a payment! A very disheartened customer beware other customers as this has come as a complete shock to me
Never used them, tried a couple of times, they approve you for thousands then won't actually process a payment for hundreds. Make it make sense

You can pay over 4 installments and there is no interest fantastic

very easy to set up and use comes in very handy when you need to split the payment on some more expensive items the only thing that's a little awkward is that the payments are every 2 weeks and not monthly so I have to plan my payments carefully but overall it's great to have a little extra time to pay..

I am extremely disappointed regarding my experience with Clearpay.
My correspondence was repeatedly misunderstood, despite my making clear what I was actually asking about. When I raised a formal complaint about how the matter had been handled, the responses continued to focus on an issue that was not the subject of my complaint.
The communication was disjointed, repetitive and stressful. Different representatives appeared not to read or properly acknowledge the previous messages. I repeatedly asked for my actual complaint to be addressed, but it was not handled clearly or consistently.
Although Clearpay eventually apologised generally for the way its team handled the correspondence, the response still did not properly address the substance of my complaint.
I expect a company to read, comprehend and accurately respond to what its customer has written. Unfortunately, that did not happen here. This has been an extremely frustrating experience, and I am very discontented with the way Clearpay handled my complaint.
