Where should I start? To be honest, I don't know what to do and who I should talk to since every single person from Codan Insuranca is rude and aggressive. When I bought a rusty old motorcycle for garage displays back in August 2018 somehow codan without my permission signed me up for their motorcycle Insurance and since they didn't have my address and CPR number they couldn't send me the bill in mail or email so I didn’t know anything about them or the situation. January 2019 I got a letter from DFIM saying from 01.01.2019 every verichal is required to have a minimum insurance. So obviously I went online and found Tryg. I called Tryg and they were so respectful and nice and tried to set up a minimum Insurance for my motorcycle that is hanging on a wall for display. They told me I would need to pay 1250 kr for one year. And that was a very awesome offer and I said yes to that. While the guy was finishing the deal he told me that he can’t give me Insurance because a company I had never heard of called Codan had blocked me so no Insurance company in Denmark could give me anything on that vehicle. I told him I have never heard of them and ask what to do. He told me to call them and asked them to fix this. I asked for Codan number and he gave it to me.
And now the nightmares begin!
I called Codan and explained that I have not signed up for any of their services ever and they need to fix this asap because I was getting 250 kr in fine from DFIM a day. They said they have not had the right address and they didn’t have my CPR. They said if I want their help I have to give them my CPR and Address. I did that and then they told me I have to pay 1600 kr for the time I had Insurance from them. I explained in a very calm and pleasant way that I will not pay 1600 kr for a service I have not signed up for. They told me directly that I have no choice and I have to pay it in a very rude and aggressive way. I felt so small and helpless that I didn’t know what to do. I said I would like to talk to a supervisor and at first they said no that is not possible that I have to only talk to them and that there is nothing else. I said I know you are doing your job, but I have to talk to a supervisor about this. After about 15 min of almost beginning them they set me over to a supervisor. I don’t remember the name of the supervisor, but he was not pleasant to talk to. He said I have to pay that 1600 kr for them to open for other Insurance companies to give me Insurance. I explained that Tryg wants 1250 kr for one year and I’m more then happy to give them that for the Insurance from them. He said NO and told me I have pay for that and then we can talk. I said you can’t force me to pay for something I have NOT signed up for. And he said he will find out what happened and he will come back to me in 15-30 min. 1 or two hours went be and I needed to drive with Drivenow to a place and they called me and I pulled over and didn’t make to answer my phone so I called directly back. I was few minutes in line and then talked to an other person and had to explain everything to them. They told me I have to pay this but they can ask for the supervisor to call me. I said that is a good idea and they told me a supervisor will call me in 24 hours. One week past by and I called again. Same thing happened and they told me to wait 24 hours for a supervisor to call me. 20 days past and nobody called me. I called again and this time I talked to an extremely rude person that started to yell at me when I in a polite way asked why they have not called me. He said they have a lot to do and that I need to calm down and wait. Very rude. So rude that I choose to do something I have never done. I hanged up the phone and called again. And I talked to someone else and they told me I have to wait 24 hours for a supervisor to call me. I explained that thay have said that many times and still nothing. He promised to fallow this up personally and make sure a supervisor call me. Time passes and now it’s middle of March and they have still not called me back. So I tough to myself maybe I should email them and so I did. Time went by and it’s now 26.03.19. I called them and I was a bit angry to be honest, I said what is going on and why are you doing this? Why can’t a supervisor call me? They told me they have not seen me call before and that it’s my fault that I didn’t pickup my phone when they called in January. I explained that I was driving and that I pulled over and called them back. He was basically yelling at me and I got really hurt.. He told me a supervisor will call me in few hours and I said you have said that so many times but nothing. And he said I should be calm and wait. So I waited and now it’s 04.04.19 and still nothing. I called them again today and they told me to wait few hours.
You be the judge here! Is this a company you want your Insurance at? Bunch of rude people not caring about the customers.
Just an update, It's now 17.01.2021 and they have still not fixed my case.

So, as it is. I just got this email about my luggage claim back from Codan, which the case is just so out of the basic standard. I have all the evidence they needed for my secure luggage. but they didn't give me back the right amount which i have all my right to. I really dont think you should go with the Codan insurance for your own sake. they dont protect you and your things as it should be on this insurance.
In my case it was about my samsonite cosmopolite big 74cm travel luggage with an amount you definitely would secure as i did. But when the claim got through i got it for the S'Cure - which the standard is on a whole different standard. In both weight and the guarantee is totally out of the sight.
I really dont feel for this kind of treatment, i just brought this extra service because of my exchange to prevent this, but ended up like this.

Bad service, poor communication, unacceptable costumer handling, terrible ethics.
From a water damage caused by my neighbor upstairs, my pregnant wife and I've had to move out from the apartment because of the heath risk of fungus growing inside the wall, while Codan processed the case.
After 6 months trying a contact with Codan, with hostile communication from Codan's consultant, and no action at all, the insurance company concluded they will not cover the cost, without a proper investigations and basing their decisions on false allegations given verbally by my angry my neighbor, who fears the costs will fall on him, since he did not hired a plumber.
I had to hire a Fuktteknik to prove the case, and Codan refused to acknowledge the indications. The truth is that all the physical indications point for a very clear case, "massive mold growth caused by water damage", but Codan prefers to lie and not take responsibility for their duties.
On the top of that, since it takes long time for Codan to pay the external consultants, inspectors refuse to work for Codan, if they have enough other jobs, therefore customers like me are left in the limbo.

I cannot say a lot about Codan Forsikring A/S as I had very limited experience with the company, but I can share my very bad experience with one employee.
I have never had such a bad experience as a client in my entire life as I had with one employee. She was very incompetent and not able to listen to what I was trying to say to her. She did not have knowledge about insurance document, which states all of the rules. Moreover, she was not trying to learn while it was required in my case. She did not know the difference between robbery and theft even though it is clearly stated in the insurance document. She was trying to interpret both of the definitions even though it was completely contradicting to the insurance document.
I have all of the emails saved, so I can prove what I state.
In the end, I received help from another employee.
