Scamming old people out of their money

My parents were cold called at the door by a salesman who smarmed his way into the property and proceeded to con my elderly parents out of over £6000 for a piece of rubbish SINGLE electric riser bed that i can easily find from any reputable online bed store for less than a 1/5 of the price.
I really wish my parents had told me how much they had spent on this bed when they first purchased it in 2023.
It has since developed faults and when my father uses it, it has a mind of its own and closes the legs and back. This has caused him to fall out of bed on the same day he got home from hospital for stroke related symptoms. My father had a stroke a few years back and has suffered with mobility issues since. I assume when they purchased this bed they did so because they were sold the dream by a slick saleman who promised them everything and then proceeded to empty their bank account.

When contacted today to discuss this, i have been made aware that to send out an engineer to investigate the faults will incur a £150 charge if found to not be a manufacturing fault. I can bet my last penny it just wont be.

To add a final insult, when i asked about how to make a complaint to the company i was told to write it. No way to do it over the phone.

i hope the calls are recorded

We offer all consumers one of the most comprehensive warranties in the market today. The warranty covers product failure due to defective materials or workmanship and in some cases against accidental damage. We have no difficulty honouring our warranty offering to our consumers. Our warranty does not cover user error nor does it cover accidental damage unless included. From the information provided by you our team have offered for an engineer to attend, and we have informed you that if there is not a fault with the product the engineer visit would be chargeable. This is absolutely standard commercial practice and does not in any way indicate that we would in some way fail to correctly honour our obligations to your parents. We would strongly recommend that you book the engineer appointment because if there is a fault with the product it needs to be resolved for your parents. We can assure you that if there is a fault with the product that is covered by the warranty, there is no question of any charge being raised. Finally and for the avoidance of doubt, during our sales process we do not simply turn up at a customers home, all of our in home presentations occur by appointment only. Once again, thank you for your feedback and we hope that this clarifies the situation.

Surinder the rep was very polite and informative a nd explained the whole process of what the bed does. The delivery drivers installed the bed thank you.

Excellent service

Excellent service, saw a consultant on Saturday, he came back to see us on Monday, we were so impressed with the product we ordered it then and there, it was delivered on Tuesday!! How about that for service. John and Dave installed our new bed in no time at all taking away our old Adjustamatic (35 + years old) They were clean and tidy and nothing was too much trouble for them. Many thanks for a great job guys.

Absolutely amazing service

Absolutely amazing service. Mikey took our old bed apart and installed the Comformatic Dual King Size for us. Did absolutely everything for us including setting up the app to control the bed from our phones. Given we only ordered the bed yesterday evening, now looking forward to the best night's sleep for years.

Talked themselves into my elderly

Talked themselves into my elderly, vulnerable relatives house. Luckily my relative contacted myself whilst the salesperson was still present and they were duly asked to leave. I was asked first for myself to come around for a presentation. There is a no cold caller sign on the door. I am surprised these selling techniques are still legal.

From the info you have provided I would first of all reassure you that we don’t just arrive at consumers homes. For our representative to attend an appointment would have been made. Due to the nature of the products we sell we regularly come into contact with consumers of age who may lack capacity or have characteristics of vulnerability that mean we have to take special steps to protect that consumer. If this occurs our team will ask if a member of the family can be present for the visit and if that does not happen we will not proceed with the visit, or if it is detected during the visit and a family member cannot be present we will leave. I hope you will appreciate that vulnerability is something that may not be immediately obvious and may not be identified during the booking of an appointment, but our team take this very seriously.
From the content you have published it sounds like the representative identified the vulnerability and acted correctly by asking for a family member to be present. If you would like to discuss this further please don’t hesitate to call us.

From start to finish our experience…

From start to finish our experience with Comformatic was beyond excellent. Richard came and spent enough time to demonstrate and answer all our questions about the product (in our case a chair) The chair was delivered next day by John P and Mikey who were pleasant and friendly and so helpful. They even packed up our old sofa to be refurbed and recycled. All in all a brilliant purchase happily made even better by the representatives of their company.

my experiance is not good as if i dont(which i didnt) purchase the bed no reward

my experiance is not good nothing worse than not honouring the deal/promises that where made. I had a telephone call , arranged a visit , had the visit (longer than i expected) i was informed that there was a demonstration and a chat about there product ....but not quiet the experiance ...when the guy finished he was on the phone to his office and within 10 mins i was told they could offer the bed around £6000 ...i said no way i could afford that the next offer £5000.... with that I was eventually given the sleep survey too fill in and return ..when they recieved it i would recieve a letter detailing how to claim my voucher.....that never arrived.. heard nothing from them again until approx 2 years after another phone call with the same offer ...the long story was said again...still no follow up...till 4 months ago another phone call same story ....still no follow up call.....till last thurs(31/10) another phone call who gave me the number to contact them .....same story ..still no follow up Itelephoned today (4/11/24/) only to be told ......its too old .and basically as I did not contact them before the time.................its my fault they (comfimatic) didnt /haven't sent the voucher ...............hence I would not recommend this firm as after its MY FAULT they can not fulfil the offered reward

At the times we ran this exercise we issued many thousands of pounds in vouchers to consumers that had returned the survey, there is therefore no reason why we would not fulfil your promotion had it been received and had it been properly completed. To be properly completed the survey needed to be fully completed and returned to us within 28 days of completion, from the records we hold we have been unable to trace you returning a properly completed questionnaire, because the questionnaire was not received there was no trigger to send the letter and the voucher. I hope you can understand why we had to stick to the terms of the offer and so were unable to assist you on this occasion.

They bullied us into making an…

They bullied us into making an appointment we didn't want. Then they didn't confirm it as they said they would. The guy (very nice guy from Cape Town) showed up and he got the office to speak to me. The guy in the office lied about me confirming the appointment. Not a company to trust...

The rep was so helpful over witch chair to get I did not know I could get the VAT off the chair and saved money. The driver see the step going to the house and went white as a ghost.
