Just a terrible experience

Just a terrible experience. Definitely wouldn't recommend this bank to anyone who is not a German citizen. I went first to a branch, where I was told I could only open an account online. So I went back home and went through the application process, then arranged a call through their app to verify my identity. The person I spoke to could speak perfect English, but she said Commerzbank had said she wasn't allowed to verify my identity in English (I speak a bit of German, but there were a lot of instructions about the passport, symbols on the passport etc that I didn't understand so had to give up). Then I had to wait until I had another day off to go back to the branch to verify my identity. I brought my passport, confirmation of residence and tax number but was told I needed a residency permit or visa to open my account. I moved to Germany as an EU citizen so I don't expect to need or receive one of these at any point. None of the other banks request this and I've since registered with Sparkasse, but I am angry that I spent so much of my time dealing with their roundabout processes to be ultimately turned away because I wasn't German.

Untold charge

Just opened the business account, I got my log in and card in end of March; but found that there're already two charges in January, and February in my bank account, without informing me in advance. Plus the 6 months free account online advertisement is not transparent. It's a refund of 6 months fee after you use the account for 6 months. For me this is not 6 months free. It's not ethic and simply manipulation just to attract people to open the account. Just the beginning, what I hate the most is happening, I decide to cancel the account to avoid more unexpected charges in the future.

No help opening a business account.

I am trying to open a business account from their website and it doesn't work. I call the custumer care number (069580009000, 10.02.2021, 16:49) and try to explain that I need to open an account. The lady on the phone, in a very unfriendly way, tells me I need to be legitimated to open an account. I said ok, but in the opening of the account online, no-one asked me for a legitimation, nor have I received an email with instructions. So how am I supposed to know? I could not finish my sentence that I was hung up abruptly. I was left without an answer in a very rude way. I will now proceed to another bank and advice everyone to stay away from these poeple. No wonder it is a bank close to bankruptcy.

Account unusable for 12 days in…

Account unusable for 12 days in December. I received no explanation other than it was a ‘Technical issue’. Absolutely amazed at the lack of care shown by them. No cash, no card, no money transfers - nothing and with a house to run and child to support. After complaining they have now sent me a letter telling me they are closing my account! Absolute disgrace and deserve
to fail as a Company

Terrible experience.

Terrible experience.
I wanted to create a bank account with Commerzbank, but there was almost no information about the different accounts. I have tried to get in touch with them, and they only answered to get an account first. When I have asked for more informations, they again provided no useful answer more than "look at the website". After more pushing, I got a pdf with partial information about one of the bank account, no greetings and of course in a different language.
Honestly, it was ridiculous.

Unverschämte Kostenforderung

For an account of my deceased mother we need some paperwork. The Bank wants to charge us 700€ just to print out a few statements. True story.

Für ein Konto meiner verstorbenen Mutter müssen wir einige Unterlagen bekommen. Die Bank will uns 700€ in Rechung stellen für alte Kontoauszüge (von 2018, also 2 Jahre alt). Das ist die Wahrheit.

Horrible customer service

I have been a private banking customer since 2002. Since 2017, there is almost no customer service.
- My brother who passed away had an account in the same branch and they gave incorrect information moreover did not follow up on inheritance issues. I had to push to get a deadline as to when the funds would be transferred.
- When your phototan is not working you can not find out about your balance through your customer rep. H etold me he can not email me my account report yet he will send me a physical letter.
- It is as if they do not want English speaking customers and they want you to close your account.

They treat you bad when you a are a foreigner

I’m a long time client of Commerzbank and have been currently very disappointed with their customer service, specially via telephone...they get angry at you when you ask them if they speak English and are very rude and treat you as you are a stupid piece of sh**. Today I had a call to unblock my online banking and I’ve never came across such a rude attendant like today.
They lost a client, I pay expensive fees to have my account and that’s the service I recieve ? NO THANK YOU

CommerzBank never to be trusted!

If you plan to have a trip or short stay in Germany and will need to open a bank account for any reason, NEVER EVER GO FOR COMMERZBANK!!! It’s the worst bank in bank history with the worst customer service. They do transaction and do not inform you forward that it will cost you money. You end up with certain sum charged from your account and managers give no solutions for it. And for the question: why I was not informed or given any option to choose, they answer: it’s the bank policy....
Good luck if you make the mistake to choose COMMERZBANK.....

waisting of my time

I needed advice about opening an bankaccount.
On the first day, the consultant gave me the wrong Bank opening hours. The consultant said that the Bank is open until 18-00 09.09.2020.
At 16-10 Bank was closed.
I've spent 1.5 hour of my time + 1.5 Eur for parking.
The next day I've called at Help-desk and I asked the consultant for advice on whether my documents are suitable for opening an account. By Phone She gaves 100% warranty of Account openning.
This day 10.09.2020. I came to the Kommerz Bank Mainz and got rejection!!!!
I've spent another 1.5 hour of my time + 1.5 Eur for parking.
Total: 3hours of wasted time + 3Eur Parking + 6 Eur for Oil ++++
huge disappointment with the incompetence of the employees of the Commerzbank Mainz.

Thank You for waisting of my time.

Account closed by Bank, money bloked, nobody cares, RUN AWAY from these thieves

One star is too great for such a bank. Customer since 2015 where I used to deposit income above 3000Euros, I moved out of Germany and out of EU two years later for work but kept transfering the same amounts and sometimes more and i reached a deposit of nearly 100KEuros on my accounts and was still using the online banking. In 2020 I return to EU and inform Commerzbank of my new address, situation with salary above 4KEuros, attach all IBAN to this account (energy, landlorad, invoices, salary, etc.) and suddenly in June 2020 all credit cards and the bank accounts are bloked with no warnings, no info. and nobody at the customer call center care to inform you, nobody at the branch answers you. After multiples emails and calls, I am informed that Commerzbank had closed my accounts and bloked my money. i asked the transfer of my assets by sending a signed letter and new IBAN by email and they refused, claiming that I have to ask first by post letter the closing of my account! What the f*** is that? they block your account, your money tell you then that you have to close the account?? After emails, calls, claim on their website to their mediator, I got several letters where they pretend to have notified me in advance which is false and now my money is blocked since June as well as my bank statements and nobody can help me! To those in the same situation, have you approached a lawyer or how did you get your money back? To all others specially foreigners who want to deal with Commerzbank, RUN AWAY, they will still from you, DO NOT TRUST THEM!!

Bad experience

they keep on advertising that they offer free bank account but after you open your account and try to authenticate. they will take more than 3-4 weeks with no answer.you cannot ask the help center since they have no access. they do not reply about the query to the email. you cannot ask the branch because they are not responsible for the task and they forward it to another branch of which you have no contact address. you keep on waiting for your account to be opened. due to the delay you submit the IBAN to all your payment partners just to receive a rejection letter without any reasons. you cannot inquire anywhere for the reasons. I am a non European who fairly understand German language and have no negative shufa ratings. i have a long term visa and a good salary.

Account closed for no reason

I had an account with them for 8 years, always with a decent monthly income, and they closed my account without any reason. I spoke to the local branch manager and over the phone with other reps, and no one would tell me why my account was closed. My SCHUFA rating is great, I'm a permanent resident in Germany, and I have no debts -- there is absolutely no reason why this should happen.
To add insult to injury, they will not cooperate with me to receive a reimbursement for a flight ticket (which can only be reimbursed to the original account). They refuse to redirect it to my new account.
Customer service is incredibly rude and unhelpful. Stay away.

Even one start is too much for them.
Such 90s bank service with careless and impatient customer care.
Too many number with letter, too bad tone and voice, so bad user interface, they are all driving me crazy!!!

I feel shame as an established bank that is existed in Germany.

AWFUL SERVICE

Worst customer service ever. I'm a client in Munich, Germany. First of all this bank is struggling to reach digitalization. Everytime you need to do something online and they don't have the channels you have to contact their customer service which always says they cant help you unless you reach out your specific filial. What is this, the 20th century?
I've been also trying to fill the request for a debit credit card FOR A MONTH and because the process is not available online(It "is" but it doesnt work when you follow the links and gives you then instructions to reach at their useless customer service)...then you have to call customer service. Their agents always tell you the process cannot be completed by them(easy way to not do the job) and then tell you that another agent will call you. Guess what they never reach out to you again.
If you are a person who grew up in the 60`s and you are willing to have to go to the bank whenever you need to do something then maybe this is your type of old school bank.
If you are a digital person that prefers to handle your accounts online them I DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS BANK AT ALL. AWFUL SERVICE.
