I had a terrible experience with Confort Rent a Car

I had a terrible experience with Confort Rent a Car in Colombia (Bogota). I rented two cars from them in July 2024 and faced multiple issues:

1. Unjust Damage Claims: After returning the cars in "good" condition (as confirmed by their initial inspection), Confort Rent a Car claimed new damages more than 27 hours later. Initially, they only mentioned a small scratch, but then escalated to numerous serious damages which were not there when I returned the vehicles.

2. Unjustified Charges: Despite disputing the damage claims, they charged my credit card CAD $1,634.89, which is far beyond the claimed damages. This amount includes deposits that were supposed to be refunded and an additional unjustified charge.

3. Poor Communication and Customer Service: They ignored my emails disputing the charges and requests for refunds, failing to address my concerns and keeping my money without justification. I'm still trying to get the money back!

Avoid renting from Confort Rent a Car! They are unprofessional and will charge you for damages that occur after you’ve returned the vehicle.

For your own sake stay away! Worse experience ever.

On the Tuesday before I picked up the car on Wednesday, they called me to ask if I could pick up the car already on Tuesday. Because tomorrow, on the day of collection, the car would be forbidden to circulate in Bogotá because of "pico y placa".
If I had done this, I would also have had "pico y placa" on the day I returned the car the following week. A foreigner not speaking fluently Spanish or knowing what "pico y placa" is about in Bogotá and trusting these people would have paid a huge penalty latest on the day of return.
When the vehicle was handed over it had about 100 paint defects and all of them were recorded at length. Worse to come: My credit card authorization was obtained under the pretext of the alleged blocking of the deposit.
In fact, the amount was debited immediately.
With all due respect: Obtaining an authorization by lying is credit card fraud.
Days later they got confused with their own lies. First a malfunction at VISA was to blame and days later they would have had the contractual right to charge the amount. - So, which lie to chose?
When I returned the vehicle, I did not receive a receipt despite a very lengthy inspection. Instead I was asked to sign that I would agree to a further inspection somewhere, sometime and therefore without me being present.
No, I didn´t sign. Because, I speak spanish and could read what I was asked to sign.
The deposit was credited only weeks later and I lost €20 due to the exchange of COP into Euros and back and bank charges.
Simply stay away. Don´t damage your stay in Colombia with such people.

The worst rental car company I have see…

The worst rental car company I have see in 20 years global travelling, very basic service, charging additional for cleaning the rented car in all cases and delays the final inspections/ handover of the car until it is fully clean - this can take 1 hour or more - this company is absolutely not to be recommended and be out of business

Good service, but not clear terms

I rented my car in Colombia, through the VIPcars website. The service from the people in Colombia was good and their personnel was ready to answer my questions. The reception and delivery of the car was a bit random and the deposit was bigger than I expected and not described on the terms. They said it would take 10 days for the depositum to be released and it took 20.

The service was good, but it did not feel like my depositum was safe, which was annoying and made me waste time on support mails.

Renting the car through VIPCars seem to help as they take responsibility for the actions of Confort Rent a Car.
