Careful what you sign with Connor Broadley
Peter Broadley took over the management of my company pensions when I was the director of a company. He set up new pension pools with Aviva for myself and other employees.
He suggested consolidating my old pension pots which originated from HSBC into the new Aviva wrapper. I told him I was happy with the funds as I had taken heavy salary sacrifices and had invested after the 2008 crisis 100% in equities. A classic dollar averaging technique. He told me the transfer would be to the exact same funds just under the Aviva wrapper with lower management fees. I agreed to this.
Unfortunately by design or poor process the funds were moved into a generic Aviva Diversified fund which was only 70% in equities and 30% in other more defensive assets.
I didn't pick up on the mistake until after the cooling off period. When I eventually challenged him on why the transfer has not been made to like-for-like funds he completely gaslit me saying he would never have offered that and that he was not even aware that my main priority was for growth. I requested to meet him in person which he did not agree to even though I gave him my time when I signed the contract.
I have now moved my funds to Fidelity. I don't recommend Connor Broadley based on my experience. It was ultimately my fault for not checking the transfer agreement and taking his word that it was a formality rather than advice.
