Very poor service and customer service representatives from Convera. I had already made payment of £5750 through them and was trying to make further payments but they kept rejecting all the cards I used. I called them several times and they kept suggesting any tangible solutions. It is obvious the issue is from their fraud detection team and they can't solve it from their end and was only told this after a week of calling them daily and spending over 30 minutes each time to connect through to them. I'm frustrated as that is the only payment method the school accepts. Very poor service.

Truly a terrible company. I am located in Canada and paying a US institution. Their customer service is ABYSMAL, with conversations going in loops. Payments get lost or delayed EVERY MONTH with no explanation. Now their payment status tracking tool is broken too.

The University of Delaware uses Convera to facilitate our international transfer tuition payments. More than their platform and tools, their responsive and helpful team is what makes them reliable and trustworthy. They made a point to answer my emails, provide with my the information I need, and patiently worked on a specific wrinkle which I partly caused. For the most part, everything is smooth and easy.

Not very reliable. A lot of mistakes
Very complicated system
The payment did not go through and the university kept chasing me up for the payment
nobody could clear the payment. very difficult to get someone to talk to.

Absolutely horrible customer service, they don’t care about your business and will not do anything extra to get your payment going. Their intermediary bank returned my payment and provided no reason for return, I been waiting for over a week to get this case resolved, all their agents work from home and give a zero F about you and your payments

I contacted Convera for a complication with my university fee payment. My problem was efficiently managed by Ana M. of Convera Customer Car, who provided excellent support with dedication and professionalism. Thank you!

Pathetic customer service I am still waiting for the refund amount for the past 15 days
I got a chance to study in the UK from Africa through a scholarship program. The institution information that I should pay through convera.
Little did I know what I was walking into. Payment was done on 13th Aug 2025, on 17th I made a follow-up to enquire why my funds have not reflected my call went unanswered.
On the 20th I made another call to the UK one sleepy guy answered the phone and told me to wait for 10 days for the funds to reflect
I hang up and made another call , another uninterested guy picked up and told me to send proof of payment and they got back .
I raised 5 different enquiries , on 21 st I got an answer that I should contact my bank since the funds were sent in the wrong currency. Keep in my mind I was told to pay in local currency in the instructions and they closed my enquiry.
I went to the local entity since we sent the money to via them to Convera, their entity told me that the money is already sent to Convera on the 13th I was confused stressed,my company has already started to suspect me thinking I have them a fraudulent payment information.22nd I wrote another enquiry with the response from their bank ,proof of payment and remittance advice it went unanswered,my deadline of payment was 25 th. The university said they can help because convera is a third party and would have to sort my problem
And just like that I was dropped from the intake ,no response from convera till today,no refund of funds to our company
The opportunity I had dreamt of was taken away as I watched ,knowing someone is just sitting, not even lifting a finger to trace the money.
What was more frustrating was the people who received the call had no clue where to look, they kept asking for proof of payment on the enquiries, kept telling me they can't see my funds and you wonder how is it even possible yet the instructions came from them?
Convera ate my money!!!
I made a payment through convera to tenant pay on the 18th of June, convera receithe money on the 19th of June and never posted it out. I called several times, sent emails but got no response. When I came out here to rant about convera, they suddenly closed the case , said the payment went through and updated it on their site whereas the payment did not get to tenant pay.
The said transaction number their sent was fake as tenant pay said there isn't such number in tracing payments. Why did they update the payment immediately I came to trustpilot to rant about them. They are scammers. Do not use convera. Immature people taking people's money.
I was pressured into paying £600 for my son's Glasgow Uni accommodation - a lot of pressure about how there were deadlines, other students waiting for the room etc....I was told to use a payment portal for Convera...and tho my payment was initially acknowledged, they have since 'lost' my money...we waited and waited for receipt of payment - my money is GONE - no chance of talking to a human - no phone - no proper email - just automated rubbish!! DO NOT PAY MONEY TO THESE CROOKS!!!!!!!
My university tuition deposit was made on the 7th of August. I was assured that convera was a reliable method to make my payment. However convera managed to loose my money and has caused a significant delay that may cost me the opportunity to get my visa on time before the deadline. Myself and my family have had multiple back and forth emails with them however their customer service is abysmal. Their call centre help line would often keep me on hold for 45 minutes only to pick up and hang up. The two times someone picked up, they were either extremely condescending even after they admitted to have lost my tuition deposit. On my last occasion of speaking to their helpline, I complained about being put on hold for extensive periods only for the receiver to hang up on me, and the customer support agent quite literally burst out laughing as if the whole incident was some kind of joke. At this point I’m missing £8000 worth of money and I’m being met with no help at all. Please avoid convera.
There were some problems but once Convera was reached on the telephone these were resolved

Convera customer service is the worst to contact, making us wait for more than 20 to 30 minutes and they don't resolve the issue of the customers, and universities are blindly believing them without giving students other payment options.

Do not use Convera (formerly Western Union). My experience with them has been terrible. I used their service twice to pay tuition fees to McGill University.
The first time was a bank transfer. The money was moving within the same country (Singapore). Normally, such a transfer is instant. However, a week later Convera wrote to me asking for payment confirmation. They were unable to identify my transfer and wanted me to prove that it was my money!!! After a week of back-and-forth emails, they finally sent the funds to the university. In the end, the transfer reached McGill with a three-week delay and caused me a ton of stress!!!
Keeping that in mind, this time I decided not to use a bank transfer and instead paid by card. To my shock, they again demanded proof of payment. All the necessary information had already been provided on their damn website during the payment. Nevertheless, they wanted me to prove that this was my transaction. I have never seen such ridiculous nonsense from a modern financial institution.
I sincerely wish these people that when they go grocery shopping and pay by card, they too get asked for confirmations and statements for every single transaction.
DO NOT EVER USE THIS SERVICE. DEFINITELY NOT CONVERA.

Convera customer service for students and their family members was terrible in my experience. We were asking for help to refund/recall a payment done in the wrong currency and have received six ticket closures and one rude customer service rep who hung up. The payment is still not back.
I’m extremely disappointed with my experience using Convera for an international tuition fee payment.
I made a payment on July 25, 2025, to my university using Convera, expecting it to be delivered within the promised 3–5 business days. However, as of August 4, the university has still not received the funds, and I have received no meaningful update from Convera.
I did email them and got only an
automated response saying they would get back in one business day — but it’s been days, and there’s been zero follow-up. No confirmation, no proof of payment delivery, nothing. This is completely irresponsible for a financial service handling international education payments.
What’s worse is that this delay is now putting my entire university admission and visa process at risk, as the deadline is very close, and I might lose my seat because of Convera’s negligence.
As a student investing time, money, and hopes in studying abroad, this level of service is not just disappointing — it's dangerous. I trusted Convera to handle my tuition securely and promptly. Instead, I’m left in the dark, stressed, and uncertain.
Use this service at your own risk — but if your academic future depends on timely payment, I’d strongly advise looking for faster and more reliable alternatives.

My bank uses Convera for international wires. I have provided all necessary information requested from my bank as the transaction was flagged as potential fraud.
My bank does not take responsibility for delays or losses of third party involved. It has been 5 business days that the money was taken from my account (at a disadvantageous exchange rate) and the recipient does not have the money either.
Time frame to process a wire= Unacceptable
Business days since the first transaction= 4
Calendar days= 6
The bank is not taking responsibilities stating that it can take up to several weeks to process the wire and release the funds. What kind of scheme is this?

I transferred my son's tuition fees through Convera on 01/07/2025, well ahead of the university's deadline of 07/07/2025. Unfortunately, due to delays on Convera's end, the funds are yet to reach the university until today 23rd July 2025
As a result, I missed the deadline and might lose the option to pay tuition by installments—a serious inconvenience, both financially and emotionally. I took every step to ensure timely payment, but the delay from Convera has caused avoidable stress.
A payment platform handling international education fees must prioritize reliability and transparency. This experience has left me very disappointed, and I hope Convera improves their processing times and communication moving forward. I don't recommend Convera to be one of the payment channels to this university. Reference UTR6545027

My SME business (50 staff, £15m+ turnover) has been using Convera (formerly Western Union) since 2017. I've been working with our current AM Steven Colangelo since around 2019 and he is fantastic. Current, credible, personable, professional and reliable, he has a real passion for trading. We have traded plenty of spot deals, forwards, options and a few other more complex trades. Steven and his team are patient and exceptional at explaining the balance of risks (upside and downside). When Steven isn't around, the team in the Peterborough office are also superb. Convera offer us exceptional value for money. I have spoken with various other FX brokers (large to boutique, and none come close). I really enjoy my interactions with Steven and look forward to working with him over the coming years as we scale our business together.
