Take care when buying a country living Carpet its not what it seems
Purchased a Country living carpet initially delighted fitted by store we purchased from which has now closed down. We were sold a carpet Guaranteed for 10 years .
Do not believe this Statement.
After 3 years it started to show wear. I discovered the closure of the shop that sold and fitted the carpet , I then contacted the shop now selling the Country living Carpets who were helpful and gave me the number o the manufacturer. These people were anything but helpful told me none of there carpets were guaranteed for more than 2 years and ended the call.
We are two 76 year old pensioners who are NOT dashing up and down all day , very sorry for anyone with a family, I wish I had read the TrustPilot Reviews.
DON'T USE HOPELESS RECIPES FROM COUNTRY LIVING MAGAZINE
A few weeks ago my wife slow cooked a leg of lamb using the recipe by Alison Roman in the January 2026 edition of Country Living, for a group of close friends.
She followed the instructions very carefully and cooked the meat at the right temperature for the correct length of time, but it was a disaster and was so burnt it was inedible. She was very upset and I was very sorry for her and very annoyed at the waste of a very expensive leg of lamb and the cost of the long cooking.
I wrote to the editor of Country Living and Alison Roman but no reply from either. I have always thought that Country Living was a good magazine, but this experience has changed my opinion and it seems a lot of other readers agree judging by the terrible reviews.
PS Alison Roman has the same recipe on the internet but at a lower temperature!!!

Found it v difficult to cancel a subscription to Country Life , Hearst subscriptions so beware .
Messaged and tried to call but the options 1 and 2 just keep going round and round.
No obvious way of cancelling having logged in.
This is clearly difficult to access and carry out . We see that other reviewers have found the same but there has been no response from Country Living
Useless online website had too many pop-ups
Their online website had so many pop-ups I just bailed. They're wasting their money on a website if that's how they treat their cusotmer.

You cannot cancel your subscription to their magazine on line at all. I think its designed to keep taking your money even when you want to stop.
Cancelling your Direct Debit doesn't work either as they keep taking the cash.
Whitstable kitchen, bad quality …
20 year guarantee and less than two years old and the bottom of two doors the laminate has lifted another door has bubbled. They have agreed to replace the doors but I’m still having to pay once more to have them fitted and concerned further down the line.Wish I had read the reviews. Don’t bother!
Customer service is a distaster
Love the magazine, but the customer service is a disaster. Once again I have not received my Christmas Issue and the replacement will (perhaps) arrive in Januar. Sucks. I wrote emails and they were not answered and I spent 45 minutes on the phone to some call centre that basically apologized 15 times and did not resolve the issue. Guess how much I will enjoy the Christmas recipes in January? This is the 4th time this has happened.
Lovely Country Living
Country Living offers lots of inspiration for country girls like me. There isn't a plethora of DFL 'hobby farmers' which is a relief. I enjoy the articles about dedicated artisans and visually it's a satisfying magazine. My monthly treat.
Disappointing on content and attempts to cancel a subscription.
I've been buying Country Living for several years now, just from the supermarket when I did my shopping, and I always found it a good and varied read. I signed up to their six monthly subscription offer recently - six issues for £6.00 and then reverting to just slightly below list price - and was very disappointed at the content. The magazine now seems to be re-jigging articles from the past and I kept thinking that I had imagined I had read that article before! I tried to cancel the subscription online (impossible) and eventually phoned Customer Service who tried to sell me another magazine from their range. I held my ground and cancelled the subscription but it makes their claim that it is "easy to cancel at any time" somewhat economical with the truth.
5 stars for service & style, 4 for quality of some parts
I recently ordered my country living kitchen Whitstable range from my local Homebase with a very lovely lady who was very patient with me. I kept tweaking the design. A date was set for delivery & they were accommodating in setting the date I wanted for delivery. A week before delivery I was called to confirm date & again the day before to let me know time. Unfortunately the driver was few hours late & I had to call them to ask where it was. The cabinets were all pre assembled & wrapped in cardboard. I had a few minor scratches to my walls & a sign knocked off & broken by the guys but nothing valuable. A cabinet door was damaged & a paint scratched on 1 end panel. The door was replaced & we were sent a small 60ml touch up paint. The only issue we can see is that the plinths & panels are all chipboard with thin veneer & not solid wood so if water gets into them it will bubble so we were careful to not put cut side onto floor. It’s a shame as they have to be cut to fit which was also a problem on our island end & back panel as they don’t come exact size. Due to delivery & chipboard we have given the 4 stars otherwise it would have been a 5. Especially the service which was excellent. The kitchen doors are a beautiful wood grain shaker style which we love which come in several colour choices.

THE WHITSTABLE IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!
Dreadful kitchen!
Most of the kitchen is splitting bubbling only 12months old. Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing.
Say it’s due to water damage not sure how a head height door, has water damage on it.
THEY WILL NOT CHANGE ANYTHING UNDER WARRANTY. They use the coward way of saying it’s water damage. Every plinth, door has bubbled!
I was delighted with my purchases
I was delighted with my purchases which arrived speedily and very well packaged . 2 China Wall hangings in vibrant colours with a personalised message on each .
Absolutely appalling
Absolutely appalling! My aunt was a subscriber of this awful magazine and passed away in March. For 5 months I have tried to cancel, obviously due to her no longer being with us. No matter who I speak to, or what forms I fill in to say she is deceased, they continue to send it! But they now send it to my home address but addressed to my deceased aunt. They obviously received my correspondence to have access to my address. It is so incompetent and frankly distressing! Please stop sending it, dead people are unable to read magazines!
Country living whitstable kitchen …
We have recently had our whitstable country living kitchen installed. We ordered from Homebase which was an easy and very professional service. Country living were in touch to organise the delivery date and then on the day I was phoned and given a time slot for my delivery. This went very smoothly and I cannot fault the men who managed to store all the boxes into my what seemed far too small dining room. Total professionals! I am so delighted with the quality of the kitchen. My joiner was impressed at the quality too and I've had lots of lovely compliments about it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend getting a country living kitchen.
Kitchen was excellent quality
Kitchen was excellent quality. Delivered when required. Great delivery man Adrian. Just lots of cardboard packing to get rid off
Bought our kitchen through Homebase
Bought our kitchen through Homebase . Some of the units were delivered flat packed. Holes drilled wrong places.lNo instructions. No doors were delivered Took ages to modify to suit.
Secondly handles less than what was ordered. Paint scratch very easily . Avoid
Country Living failed to suplly the…
Country Living failed to suplly the kitchen on the agreed date. The builders finished removal of the old kitchen to only now find out that kitchen hasn't even been picked up let alone delivered by your firm.
It is very unacceptable for your firms to put erderly (my parents) at risk with out a kitchen or water supply for few days now!
Still no confirmation to when the delivery will happen.
The customer service response was shocking and very useless at best!
I do feel very let down! I would not recommend this firm for new kitchens.
Appalled
I was appalled to read in a back issue of Country Living (December 9, 2018) the mistakes they made discussing the movie Welcome to Christmas. With respect to where it is filmed they indicated Vancouver Canada with a population of a 1/2 million. Vancouver has over 3 million people. When discussing the locations around Vancouver they mentioned Mt. Washington. In fact, Mt. Washington is located on Vancouver Island with a population of over one million people. If you are going to print something, get your facts correct. Oh yes both are part of our beautiful province of British Columbia. These facts are readily available on the internet or Wikipedia.
