Very disappointed. The surveyor who survived our property was very nice & I thought helpful until our buyer pulled out due to his survey. Just a few points. He said the timber floor boards should be... See more

Brilliant service
We used the Hamilton branch and we also used there mortgage broker Aaron Miller and really good service we got a lovely property from them and Aaron work quickly for us when we saw a property and said we wanted it.
never let your property through Countrywide
The property was let out to a tenant with multiple prior evictions, no financial checks could have been completed and the company has let me down both in terms of fulfilling what was agreed, ensuring the property was maintained, couldnt provide evidence that they had completed tasks required by law to evict the tenant.. and they had done nothing wrong ?
Please do not go with this mortgage…
Please do not go with this mortgage company.
Rubbish communication, empty promises and poor knowledge of thr current mortgage rates and availability.
We were left on 5 occasions waiting for a phone call - we went MONTHS waiting for an update. Lucky we found another mortgage advisor who was amazing found us a mortgage and now living in our dream home.
These will scam, lie and take your money.
There plenty more genuine mortgage advisor out there than conuntry wide.
Ps North Wales Branch Mortgage Adivsor really screwed us over.
This company tried to scam tenant…
This company tried to scam tenant deposit !!!! The deposit team said I’ve break the fire door ( front door ) only the door can be exit or entry and now ask me to change the new door cost for ( £1800 ) and ask me paid the whole amount and said me added two nail on the front door but luckily I’ve recorded the video before I move in and the two nails already on the door …. What a shame company STAY AWAY FROM THEM !!!!!
2 Months no deposit...
2 months and still waiting for my deposit repayment. Phone lines dead, deposits team barely reply to emails and having to call daily to hear them blaming my landlord for some sort of inconvenience, then contacting the landlord to hear the same directed at countrywide... complete incompetence for such a straightforward request. Hopefully I can get my deposit before the 2030
Worst mortage Broker ever!
Worst mortage Broker ever!! They have really put me off getting a broker. I’ve lost my trust on all brokers.I am a first time buyer and they gave a very bad service, my mortgage broker was Michelle and she was never available for me. My property was 65k and she got me 40years term paying £340 every month ridiculous!! She got me interest rate 6%. I then went direct to the bank and they offered me 4.7% interest rate for 15 yrs with £370 monthly. She took full amount £700 without completion. I then got my refund from the complaint team as countrywide mortgage said they are working on my refund but kept me waiting so they lied to me. Don’t go with these brokers they are a SCAMM!!!
Stay clear if you can!
Stay away! My tenant and I have had so many issues which do not get resolved. Lack of communication, clarity of fees (I think these are made up as they go along), mistakes and lies. Nobody wants to take responsibility for what goes wrong or for putting it right.
Do yourself a favour and get everything in writing at the start if you have to use them. As far as I can see, the ombudsman is the only way to get them to sort it out.
Longwinded No information
I am compelled to say what an horrendous journey I have been on for the passed 4 years 3 months My mother passed away April 8th 2020 leaving me the main beneficiary with 3 grandchildren I had sold the house & shop so basically it was all money in the bank when my mother died in a nursing home. Admittedly the other beneficiaries tried to put a spanner in the works but Countrywide capitalized on the situation Every email I sent was answered just within the statutory 12 days There was no information forthcoming unless I enquired I could go into great depths about Trustees meetings which were young employees who wanted my personal financial situation Zoom meetings, the endless long winded uninformative correspondence etc but although its unforgivable being in limbo for 4 years, the real reason of this review is to praise Ms Abi Rose. I have had to explain how bad things were to emphasise how good Abi was I really felt she cared I had replies by return & good explainations She really is a treasure & I wonder if the company realise what a gem they have She freed me from the nightmare So 1 star for the company & 5 for Ms Abi Rose
Terrible from start to finish
Terrible from start to finish. I ended up with a mortguage from a bank I didn’t want and insurance from a provider I didn’t want and life insurance that I expressly stated that I did not want or need. I had no say in what was done on my behalf whatsoever.
Phantom policy set up in our names but…
Phantom policy set up in our names but wrong address so all paperwork , including a right to cancel ,and personal data sent to strangers. They have refused to admit their error or acknowledge what we are complaining about. The have lied, twisted our words and patronised us. They can't provide a signed contract or direct debit. Their correspondence is littered with contradictions and a legal document they sent us to sign had the wrong names on. We are taking the matter to FOS. Avoid.
Inept, unprofessional and aggressive DO NOT USE
Please read the below if you are considering use Countrywide to sell your house or for mortgage advice i.e DON'T. They unfortunately recently 'managed' the sale of my property. The service that they provided was at best insipid and frequently littered with untruths. It took a year to complete on an excellent property priced very fairly. Due to my own efforts was I finally able to sell, not before I lost money on additional legal fees from a 'cash buyer' who hadn't actually sold their home, a significant impact on my tax affairs due to disastrously poor mortgage advice (I had to deal direct with mortgage brokers while my advisor was on holiday), poor negotiation of fixtures and fittings resulting in a shortfall and indemnity insurance fee x 3 times recommended due to frankly amateur conveyancing by Convey Law. The final insult - legal proceedings after my refusal to pay VAT on their fee despite the case being with Property Ombudsman and my mother being really ill.
Rent and contract cowboys
Countrywide are the most dishonest management agents we have ever come across both as tenants and landlords!
As landlords they lied to our tenant about us wanting to put up the rent and wanting a new contract when we had asked for neither - all to try to get £190 contract renewal fees that they hid from us and then added to us as fees without permission and before any agreement!
Then as tenants, they lied about us agreeing with the landlord to to a section 13 rent increase when we had explicitly not agreed and had negotiated an alternative.
Never trust any phone call with them
Only use email
Always cc both landlord and tenants on every email as they hate not being able to play us against each other
Save every message.
Disgusting and unprofessional avoid at all costs.
My new property manager is fast and…
My new property manager is fast and efficient in referring my property repairs to next-day service
Hello
Hello, sadly this has been an awful experience. I have been promised to arrange mortgage but the consistent delay and disrespectful attitude were not appreciated. I can't recommend this service at all. Waste of time !!!
Only communicate by email
Today we are in court facing a possession hearing. CW have totally mismanaged our tenancy but we have all our evidence. I’d advise anyone in disagreement with the firm to only communicate via email. It’s a legal record and can be used as such in court. The stress we are under is unbearable. All because of the way this firm operates.
Rented a property for 4 years through…
Rented a property for 4 years through them. We wished to leave our tenancy as we had bought a house. Left property as it was handed over to us at the start of the tenancy. We were sent an email by Craig Gilbert to say they would let us know about the deposit and any deductions the landlord wished to make. And then complete radio silence. Not returning emails, Craig is always on a phone call when you ring and he the only person you are allowed to talk to. Absolute scum.
Latham Gadd - do you exist?
I had the misfortune of being assigned Latham Gadd as my conveyancing solicitor - a person who, to this day, I'm not convinced actually exists as he was so elusive to actually contact.
Latham regularly took a minimum of one week to reply to emails. Even if it was to check I'd signed a document in the correct place before posting - surely a one second job to open a PDF and reply yes/no.
There were times when I did not hear from Latham at all for three weeks and even four weeks on one occasion.
I began to be seriously concerned that there was a problem with my emails, that Latham was sick, or that he'd been given the sack. I called up the office regularly throughout the six month process and only successfully got a hold of him once. On other occasions, I asked for a call back and never received one.
When I brought up these communication problems with his line manager, she replied, "Well, I can ask him to reply to you but obviously I can't make him do anything." Who can then?
I asked if there was a communication policy, e.g. a minimum number of working days in which a solicitor should reply to their client. The call centre staff said this didn't exist. I asked if they thought a week was acceptable - they said no. How about a month? Also not acceptable, yet it happened with regularity with Latham Gadd.
The reason why this review is 2 stars is because Latham went on holiday at the end of the process. We were then appointed Mary Lord who had good communication and got us over the line. I was so thankful not to have Latham at the end or we'd probably still be waiting on a reply right now.
This shows Countrywide is luck of the draw. You might get someone decent, or you might get Latham. Either way, the company needs to put in place a clear communication policy and line managers ought to take responsibility for whipping their team into shape - isn't that what their role is meant to be?
Overall, disappointing and frustrating. I can't believe that professionals can ignore clients for a month despite repeated follow-ups. In no other industry would this be acceptable.
They're lucky I'm giving them one star…
They're lucky I'm giving them one star as there's no option of a 0. Tried to get an AIP through them but their systems would be down most of the time which is not very helpful when applying for a mortgage and trying to put down an offer on a property we like. Then the gut who I tried calling and texting on his mobile phone, would then email me asking me if I had the correct number of his. The text message showed that my text we clearly read by him. And also the fact that was the number I always spoke to him on and had it saved on my phone from the very beginning !. Terrible Terrible service indeed. And all he kept on doing right from the very beginning was continuously boast about himself and how good he is and how many customers keep going back to him. Pathetic
The work they did was excellent
The work they did was excellent. Really nice lads friendly. The work they did was to remove spray foam in our loft due to all the bad publicity on rip of Britain that spray foam causes & damage we would of had if we didn't remove. These young lads worked brilliantly to remove it all without any damage to the structural loft. The price was good & cheaper than other companies by a few thousand so excellent. The company office kept me up to date with everything I needed to know with good advice.
Terrible service over the phone
Terrible service over the phone. Made one comment and the woman laughed at me and accused me of being a liar.
