Failure to diagnose warranty issues

Failure to diagnose warranty issues.

They will find anyway possible to not honor a warranty request. I went through the proper channels and they failed to fix the issues. The contractors didn’t know how to fix our lights flickering or our central vac not operating. So I diagnosed and fixed the lights (bulb issue) and had someone diagnose the central vac problem. Coventry refuses to reimburse me for having to do their work. Do not work with these guys

Horrible business practices and worse build experience

We fell in love with the Coventry Tomball model and the neighborhood Artavia. Everything was so peaceful and serene. We decided to go with the Nash model. It's similar to the Tomball but smaller. We received a nice incentive and somehow spent additional monies at the design center. Everything started out as planned.... oh but it took a horrible turn for the worse! Every step took months.. not weeks but months. The home started in March and by August the drywall was finally completed and painted. The sales manager kept our hopes up for a while but after a few months, I think even she gave up. We came to the construction of our home to find kids putting up the bricks with drunk workers and we contacted our sales manager and was told it's fine they're out of school. Every one does that! Nope not us! Needless to say we walked away and lost quite a bit of money but hearing the horror stories about Coventry made me feel it was the best choice to go with another builder. I never thought I would say this but please DON'T build or attempt to build with Coventry! Horrible company!

Worse company ever

Worse company ever, do yourself a favor don't build with them. I reported a sinkhole 11 months after purchase. They just put a bandage in the problem. They put some dirty on top of the sinkhole. Two years later the very sinkhole is back. I called a plumber and he found the reason of the sinkhole is because the Sewage drain pipe is cracked and the water coming out of the crack is causing the sinkhole. I report it everything to them and they just saying is not covered by the warranty but the contract says otherwise. I reported the issue before the year. I have called and email and they just ignored me. I have left like 20 voicemails for them to call me back and they never do.

It has been 5 months and I am chasing every department for the issues that they need to fix. And they have no sense of urgency to have things expedited or take accountability on things they have left undone on my house. Smh terrible experience as a first time home buyer. please be careful

Great build of the home but the landscapers trees are crap. Along with coventry doesn't care.

Great home but the landscapers they hired were awful and the warranty dept for Coventry are not helpful. We got some awful trees. Notified them soon after we moved in about the trees. Yes we signed that the stuff looked good but we were under the assumption the trees were taken care of by coventry and/or the landscapers during the 36 days prior to our buying the house. We know now to being a certified Arborist to the walk through and don't sign anything but we feel that if we didn't sign the build would of paid us 500 plus out money back and cancelled the contract. We are now out thousands of dollars and no help from the builder. Almost everyone in the new section of the neighborhood has lost at least one tree.

Not as expected.

I have a new house, Morgan plan, in Candela community, built by Coventry. My home is a flip side of the model home. However, builder kept the same lay out of features in the house. For ex, the office door opens left side rather than right side as in model home. In laundry room the washer hook up is on right side, not the left. How can someone like me know the builder didn't flip them when they built. We assumed having the new house with the same features with correct sides. It's frustrated.

Poor Customer Service-Quality:

Poor Customer Service / Dishonest
2019-We looked at the model home in DFW Metroplex
2020- Put earnest money down for lot
2021-Contract Signed- Things turned sour
We were told the following:
The builder didn't trust us
The home would not appraise
We chose too many options/upgrades
Even Worse:
We were told that we need the builder more than he needs us as customers. We chose this builder for the floor plan- not out of desperation
We chose the upgrades because they advertised this as a custom home that could be upgraded.

After the design center appointment the sales person met with us to find out what items I wanted to take off the upgrades list.
When I told her none-she became very disrespectful towards us. She demanded additional money down and explained it was because the builder did not trust us as customers. ( she repeated this information in TEXT messages)
At the time of this conversation a couple arrived to pick up the keys to their newly closed home.
The sales person involved this person in our discussion about additional money down.
This customer was kind and said that the following was explained to them: "the builder requests money in advance to pay for the options on the home so they can be purchased early in the process and not create delays for back orders on materials."
This explanation made sense and we had already paid over $35K that we did not want to lose.
I asked the sales person why she didn't just say that from the start.
Sadly- she explained the following: "some customers have different backgrounds and educational levels so I use different ways of explaining things to them." I was deeply insulted: I had gone in with my laptop that contained the vision board and list of materials I wanted for the home. There was no need for the sales person to conclude that I lacked the intellect.
Please Note: We are AFRICAN AMERICAN
Construction Issue:
Error Made with the island:
During my attempt to have this corrected:
I received a TEXT Message notifying me that the builder has been cancelling contracts and hasn't done that to us so far.
Sounded like we were being warned to not complain

The Warranty Process - same as described in other reviews.
The biggest warranty issue is the Kitchen
The quartz countertop was damaged prior by someone prior to our closing on the home.
A warranty requests was made-the project manager came out and told us that the stone company would be called for all other imperfections and to wait on the larger imperfection to see if it gets worse over time so that it all could be taken care of.
I waited and followed up over the course of 1 year.
During the holiday season - the builder requested access to our yard to finish exterior work on the home next door. - At this time they promised to make sure the kitchen stone was taken care under the builder warranty. I was told to contact the installer Allied Stone: The person was rude and scolded me for calling them but she promised that I would receive follow up within two weeks. It has been 3 months since that conversation that included additional communication with Coventry Homes about the brash treatment from Allied Stone Company. I was told that would be addressed and the stone would be fixed.
Until Yesterday when I received a call to inform me the stone is not covered by warranty and just maybe Allied Stone would fix it. I asked to speak with leadership at the company and I was clearly told that it would not make a difference. They would send me back to the warranty team.

My complaints about the sales team were handled as follows: I was told that the salesperson knows all about the engineering of the homes and that the company would not be asking this person to step down from the sales team.

Allied Stone says that we are not their customer the builder is and call them.
They also informed that the quartz cannot be fixed because the stone repair expert quit and they only had one expert.

Bottom line is that I am to have the quartz removed.
Meaning that the stone in the entire kitchen would need to be removed (more than 50 linear feet and then the island and data center) quartz would need to be removed so that all of the stone is the same color. This means removal of the backsplash- calcutta gold marble cut in a herringbone pattern would need to be deinstalled along with the gas cooktop.
In other words-the poor quality stone has cost us tens of thousands of dollars more to correct.

I am posting this review because since the time of contract and during the purchase of the home others have had a very negative experience. I just wonder if they could have been spared the pain if I had shared my review sooner.

I don't like to make others look bad and that is not my intent here.
I am sharing how this company reduced our home buying morale and the financial costs.

Sharing my experience to help others avoid hurt and pain.

Not Trust worthy with pricing.

We entered the contract with Conventry homes. While we are drafting the offer they said they might give a certain amount of incentives. But after we submitted the offer they now come back saying we are lowering the incentives . All this happened within just couple of days. There is no transparency in the incentive structure and so they can say anything and change the prices. I totally agree business can change prices based on demand. The issue is they are also retroactively changing the prices.

DO NOT BUY WITH THIS COMPANY!

My boyfriend and I built a home with Coventry homes over a year ago now. We have been putting in warranty request for 6 months. At the beginning of Dec. we finally spoke with someone who told us that we would get start in two weeks. When that time came around we still recieved no schedule or communication. They then changed their plan and told us we would have to wait until the houses were done closing in Dec. We have been waiting six months with 54 warranty items that need to be fixed. Some of which are a danger to us being here in the home. I would never recommend this builder to anyone. We stop receiving any communication from many people in the company after closing. DO NOT BUY WITH THEM! You will not receive the customer service or quality you are paying for.

Last year I came to know about Coventry…

Last year I came to know about Coventry Homes in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada by viewing a number of their show homes. I was immediately impressed with the quality of workmanship and jaw dropping show home presentations. Additionally, the service was friendly, accommodating and professional.

I’ve since started working for them and am even more impressed with this company and what it offers our Edmonton community.

My plan is to upgrade from my current townhouse to one of our beautiful bungalows in a year or two from now. Coventry homes lives their vision, mission, purpose and values, which whole heartedly aligns completely with mine.

I noticed various other reviews on here but they are from a completely different Coventry business in the United States. That said, there is always two sides to a story.

Come check us out today!

Very poor builder and use all the wrong…

Very poor builder and use all the wrong contractors to build homes. They look for the cheapest contractor and their work shows exactly what they pay for. I'm an experienced home buyer several times over and this is by far the worst builder I have encountered. They were the only ones that I had a plan that I liked otherwise I would not have picked them. As soon as you sign off on all the paperwork at the title company, they won't even know who you are or what warranty issues your house has. I'm warning all potential home buyers to stay away from this builder. Don't say nobody tried to warn you.

STAY AWAY - POOR QUALITY & LIARS

I signed a contract in November 2021 in Cambridge Crossing, Celina TX and the construction started in Feb. I am about to close the house in couple of months. I had very bad experiences with their sales team and the Project managers. They have neglected all my requests despite of having my attorney copied. I am writing this to make sure no one suffers from these people.
I have requested sales team to add a floor plug in the living room and this was agreed to add a floor plug as this was not present in contract, I have agreed to pay the $500 change fees and requested the change. The sales team never responded to this for several weeks. I have written emails to the salesperson requesting for this to update in the contract and share it with me, I called several times to request, and the Sales team responded saying, “Don’t call us, we will take care of it” I have call records for the same conversations and I am going to take legal actions on them.
To my surprise, the foundation took place without floor plug and Coventry had to replace the Salesperson due to lot of complaints on her. I have written and phone conversations stating ‘Floor Plug will be added in the living room’
I have done pre-drywall 3rd party inspection; I had submitted the report and the same Salesperson refused to address any of the issues without looking at the report.
There are several issues found in the report and are reported by City later, I was under impression that Coventry is a quality builder but its just a myth, its like any other regular builder like Lennar.
After the dry wall is completed, I was requested for a pre-drywall inspection report study – This is a classic example of their quality and process. It’s a JOKE, I thought they took this seriously and going to address the issues, after wasting 2 hours of time, they went over the list and said none of the qualify for fix. Even now I have several issues in the house and I don’t have the satisfaction of a quality house.
This is to let everyone know that don’t fall for their tricks, none of the Coventry team is supportive and listen to your concerns. I will never go near Coventry in future, and I don’t recommend this to any of my family and friends!

We trusted the wrong company. Such a bad experience so far and disappointed about their poor work moral.
They tell you: "all builders make mistakes" which is true, but we are not talking about small mistakes anymore but lies, 'on-hold' methods and using cheap material leftovers for or house. Contacted several managers..they don't bother to call back or to act on our complaints and the situation.
Stay away! Overall...do NOT sign a contract that doesn't grant you a "finish and complete" date.

Thieves

MHI Partnership, Ltd d/b/a Coventry Homes DAM225 – Coventry Homes were contracted to build a home on 1/15/2019, They advised house was ready on 11/29/2019 at Thanksgiving Holidays when no Title Company was open to close, we showed up for closing but they could not accommodate our correct names on the contract and did not show up for closing; They stole our $18,290.00 Earnest money. They failed to close purchase of the property as required by Contract Original Contract).

This was our FINAL HOME what turned out be sheer hell to deal with them , they hide behind low paid and overworked Sales Person so that they can steal your hard earned money as they do not know how to build home after they claim they have built 55,000.00 homes. This is the only way they can make money by stealing and ripping p n They are liars and thieves to rip people off. One would thinks they can read blue print.

Our FINAL HOME has so many flows.

I would not trust Mr. Pospisil, Mr. Chas Geise, Ms. Freddi Lovin/ emotional person, cried at a drop of hat and runs to superior, who now works selling insurance.

They could not even follow a simple Construction Design Diagram which they charged us for, they did not build house as per diagram yet wanted full money. They changed and added verbiage to Para 30 page 8 which would take away Buyers Rights without Buyers knowledge, it is Concealment of information which can destroy buyers enforceability of specific condition and apply “AS IS” Clause. We were forced to sign the Contract #22 misrepresenting facts. Construction Diagram dated 1/15/2019 by Joe Pritchard was sent to Architect on same date but was not incorporated nor was the house built in accordance. Mr. Rudy Pospisil is not a trustworthy man nor does he keep his word and he hides behind low paid staff to protect himself.

This Company is unscrupulous, do not do business with them or build with them even if they are the last company on earth. It is a sheer nightmare to deal with them

They deserve no stars just a note that karma will bite hard!

They deserve no stars, this builder has put us through hell! Stay away and share our story was aired on CBS! They are liars, deceptive and so is their in-house lender!
This builder is deceptive, and corrupt! They deserve no ranking; this company will take your money and go through the entire process then yank the contract from you! Do not buy from this builder! They do not care and even if you write to the President of the Company, no care or thought on what their company's sales, and construction managers are doing, they will lie to your face. I do not know how they sleep at night doing what they did to us. We had been in contract for over 6 months, went through every meeting all of the design process, the electrical, and preconstruction meeting, one week after it they pulled our contract saying we were no longer approved which is a bunch of bs! We had over 24K into it as well! These people are awful stay away! Liz, Jacob, Jason, Dennis, and their joke of an inside lender Brad at FC Lending! Hear any of those names run! Their President even Gary Tesch - the entire builder corporation is awful!
You can Google Dennis and Amie Brown CBS did a story on our situation which has left us homeless and having the most difficult time finding a home.

Do not back their own workmanship and wont fix their mistakes

We bought a Coventry home that was an inventory home, and after having an inspection done on the property found it to be fairly well built. Some of the issues that we did find during the inspection were cosmetic in nature and we had them come out and fix them. Part of the allure to buying from Coventry was the "fact" that they had a 2 year fit and finish warranty as opposed to a 1 year like other builders. I use "fact" to describe it because that has not been the case at all. Some of the cosmetic issues that were "fixed" initially were actually done poorly and in some cases done wrong, including using the wrong paint on the outside of our house when they came to fix spilled paint that was left on the house during construction. The paint they used had a different finish and therefore does not match the other paint and is easy to see exactly where the touchups were done. We waited until the end of the 2 year period to make a list of things to fix, only to find out that anything that was a mistake or "bad workmanship" is not covered under their warranty. In other words they do not cover their own work and do not back the contractors they have working for them. The only thing they honored for the warranty, was items that were covered by a third party, like the HVAC system. So if you are going to buy a Coventry Home, do not believe them when they tout the 2 year fit and finish warranty, it is absolutely not what they say it is. Then after they denied my warranty claim, the manager would not even pick up the phone to call me about it, he made a guy that had just started working for them deliver the news. After I let him know i was disappointed and wanted to speak to his manager, he called me back again and said the manager didnt have time to call me, but they wanted to come by and have me sign a form stating that i understood they were denying the claim. I found that utterly ridiculous so I refused to sign it and I got a message stating they were closing the claim based on the fact that I would sign the disclosure, and that i refused to call them back. Horrible management, and I feel sorry for the new employee that was thrown into that situation. I even told him that I was sorry he was tasked to do this.
