1 star is 3 stars too many. Awful experience.

I could not give a worse review of this agency but I'll give it a damn good try. Shame I still have to give them 1 star...
I was drawn in by the cheap accommodation, and once moving in, it was hell. Luckily I was able to retrieve my deposit after 2 months of renting as the agency had broken many of the agreements in their own tenancy meaning going to court was not going to work in their favour.

1. Hygiene
The tenancy agreement outlines the house and room will be professionally cleaned. The pictures I attach on the google review will show their level of neglect with the property. The photos show a backdoor that does not close, a sink full of rubble so much that water did not drain, a kitchen covered in old mouldy plates and food, cigarettes in a supposedly professionally cleaned room, holes in the walls, a mattress covered in blood, and general disgust throughout the house.

The week I moved in, Coventry City Council came to carry out an 'Environmental Health Check' due to complaints of it being uninhabitable. Information they coincidentally left out when telling me about the house. The reasons for this check could have been anything from the cocaine on the kitchen counter to the cigarettes left in the bathroom.

2. Safety
The back door did not shut. Now as there was a drug addict/dealer also renting a room in this house, it meant other criminals were able to enter anytime they liked. This problem was brought up straight away with the agency who avoided the situation for a while, then offered to fix the back door once said tenant had left. Not really the point of having a door though if it doesn't close? Apparently this door was fixed after I left but I have video evidence that this door still does not shut.

3. Responsiveness
I had to remind 'Coventryrooms' many many times to reply to my emails. They respond quite well before you have paid a deposit and admin fees, but this responsiveness ceases to exist once you have signed the contract.

4. Lies?
It was made clear there was a cleaner included in the rent. After many complaints about this imaginary cleaner I was told there would be a regular one. This cleaner must have been invisible and awful at cleaning because I saw no change in the state of the house, and never heard anyone clean.

5. (Dis)Loyalty
Once I abruptly moved out after not even 2 months, they offered me to return, however my old room was up on the market for rent quicker than you could say 'please return my deposit'. This did not bother me as I would not be renting with them again, however they took it upon themselves to reject my reference for future houses saying I was 'still in tenancy' with them. This lead to me being homeless for 3 weeks while trying to get round their pettiness.
I'm sure the Covid-19 situation would be used to excuse some of these situations...but I'd rather have Covid-19 than no back door.
The amount of stress this agency has caused me is immeasurable. A 1 star review is 3 stars too many. Avoid 'Coventryrooms' unless you enjoy torturing yourself.
Internet connection was decent though.

Do not rent with those people

I rented a house and since I gave them the deposit they all disappeared. I had a leak in my bathroom and they never called anyone. I wouldn't recommend this agency for renting a house. They are unprofessionals.
