Worst buying experience
Worst buying experience. I would not recommend this company. Bought Dresser and side tables. Put purchase on Credit Card for the rewards. A couple weeks after purchasing we were notified the order was delayed more than once. When the order was shipped, one side table was damaged and had another customers name on it. Dresser showed up damaged, loose handles, dust and dirt in the drawers. They sent out a new one, again damaged. Finally ended up with an acceptable product. The rewards program is terrible, not allowing you to have more time to use your rewards, especially given their supply chain issues. You have to move mountains to get them restored. After literally hours on the phone, chat, email etc... they restored part of the rewards and issued a partial refund. Almost not worth it, considering the time wasted fighting for this. One agent (part of the leadership team) was rude and questioned me as if she didn't believe me when I said I decided to keep the side table, even though it was damaged (this was negotiated with a customer service agent). I have bought from restoration hardware, pottery barn and haven't had an experience like this. For what they charge for their products, I expected higher quality products and service. Never again! I should add, this buying experience in the store was good, everything after went down hill. Quickly took my money and didn't end up with all pieces for a year.
They have me on there email address
They have me on there email address, when I try to unscramble it says email address not found. The company sucks. I won't buy a thing if they were the last company on earth.
Absolutely horrible experience trying…
Update: we never received the knives!! Instead, they sent a set of plastic cookie cutters! You just can't make this sh!t up. We had to drive an hour to the nearest store and return. Meanwhile, the creditcard statement arrived. Unbelievable.
Absolutely horrible experience trying to cancel an order. We visited a C&B in a neighboring state, and opened an account to take advantage of the savings offered to card holders. We then made a purchase of a very expensive set of knives, requesting they be shipped to our home. Upon returning home approximately an hour later, I checked the reviews and realized these knives were rated poorly, not of good quality, and had rusting issues. I called to cancel the order. I was told they already shipped, and the order cannot be cancelled, but they would email a return label to print and send them back after they get delivered. I inquired about payment and was told processing the return would take a while, so I may have to pay the invoice when it arrives. Are you kidding me?! One and done. I will never make a purchase from this business again! Being pressed for time in order to avoid the traffic driving home, we left the store. Thank goodness we didn't buy the other items we looked at!!! We were going to complete the purchase of the other items when we returned, in the comfort of our own home, totally over $4000. After doing a little more research on the products this store offers, it appears to be overpriced and low quality. There are better places with better quality product at similar price point. Shop elsewhere!
Not worth it!!
Not worth it. I ordered an item showing in stock at my local store for pick up. Right after order confirmation I got another email saying it was actually not available, but would be soon. It said mid October and I ordered 10/16. Pretty mid October to me. Next thing I know it’s become late October, then early November now saying late November. Customer service people have no clue and I’ve had two say they would get back to me and didn’t. They offers some money back, I was willing to pay the price, I just want my item in the time I was supposed to get it. The company lies about the lead times and just strings you along by 2 week increments hoping that will mislead you to thinking it’s almost headed your way, so might as well wait instead of cancel the order. Sad part is the same thing happens with their sister company CB2. Last fall I ordered a rug that had a lead time of 2 weeks and no lie, that turned into 6 months of them doing the same thing “mid November, late November, mid December, late December. 6 months later they scheduled the delivery with me and gave me a window and the driver showed up almost 2 hours before the start of the window when I wasn't available. Then had to wait another 2 more weeks for it to be delivered again. I wasted so much time with customer service and waited half a year for that one and now this is the same thing all over again. An in stock item went to almost a month so far and counting. Overpriced items and misleading sales tactics by lying about lead times. If there is a lead time, okay, but be transparent about that. I would rather be told longer lead times and it get there sooner. But they know that could mean more people not bothering to purchase or canceling orders so instead, they lie. Not worth it.
High price tag low quality.
I purchased some of the most expensive bath towels I've ever purchased in my life from Crate and Barrel. I thought that since they were expensive and from a reputable company they would be superior quality. While they do perform as towel should, these towels are fraying and falling apart at the seams after just over a year. I have Walmart towels that have lasted more than 10 years. Needless to say I will never shop these towels again. I feel I've been ripped off.
As a former employee
As a former employee, I beg you to run - the company is in severe debt and they are cutting hours just before the holidays (except the upper level of course!)
RUN AWAY.
AVOID AT ALL COST
I ordered Axis Sectional - Douglas Ice in May 2022. Delayed 3 times. still no sofa. AVOID AT ALL COST.
Crate and barrel removed my review from their website
I ordered a 5 piece reclining leisure sectional sofa in March of 2022. I got most of it in October except for the left end reclining piece. They keep telling me the piece I’m missing is ordered and that they are looking for it at the warehouse. Today I get a box from crate and barrel dropped off on my front porch that is my “sectional reclining end piece”. It was not. It was actually a black dining bench. Not remotely close to the sectional piece or even a piece I ever ordered. Now I have 2 extra pieces of furniture and a sectional sofa that still isn’t useable.
Incompetence when it comes to…
Utter incompetence when it comes to supply chain management. but still think its ok to charge customers in advance at order time and then just keep delaying actual delivery of product for months. Because customers are expected to give interest free loans to Crate and Barrell? Last year a dining table that was delyaed 6 months and every month the update was it will be here next month. Now its a media console table that is delayed 3 months and every month its the same thing..it will be available next month (Sigh)
Delivery and warehouse people are realy…
Delivery and warehouse people are realy realy bad. Never ontime on the delivery schedule. Not helpful. Changed the schedule as they wanted without explanation.
Absolutely no security with their…
Absolutely no security with their credit card procedures. Do not ever put your card information on their website. In my experience, kitchen appliances don't ship. They have no accountability, and don't use verified shipping partners.
DO NOT BUY HERE
DO NOT BUY HERE
I bought a planter online on July 4th of 2022 with an expected delivery date of early August. They have already changed the estimated delivery 3 times and when I called crate and barrel they say the product has arrived but it's in the warehouse. I contacted the store many times by phone and in person at Roseville Galleria they say it's not there and both the store and Customer service online say they will contact me to schedule a time for pickup but they never do. This whole time they have held onto my money and product, since its available, they just won't set up a time for pickup. So avoid headache and do not buy any product at crate and barrel if they don't have at the store they will just keep your money but will not give you the product and will always delay. They say they will contact you and set up a time for you to get your product but they could care less so they never actually do anything. Also I tried to put this reviews on their website but they wouldn't post it and sent an email for me change the review.
Never again
Never again! Ordered a wedding gift from Crate and Barrel site wedding registry. Item was never shipped but I was certainly charged for it. Called Crate and Barrel. They reshipped item to bride. I specifically asked to make sure there was a gift receipt included. The rep blew me off and said sure. The bride finally received gift but had no idea who it was from. There was no card/gift receipt included.
Still waiting for the item I bought
I ordered a floor lamp at walnut creek, CA store. Paid in full and decided to pick up when it comes in. 1, 2 months went by. No news or text. After 3 months I cancelled my order. That was in March. Then I saw the same item in different color in Roseville Galleria, CA store last week. Said they have the color I like and there are 8 of them at Tracy warehouse. Told me to come & pick up in a week. Called today 8 days from when I ordered. The lady said, it didn't come in with the truck this week. Check next week? That is when I went online to search reviews because of bad gut feeling. Wow!!! What are the company executives doing with that much bad reviews online? Time to close your shop or all of you need to get fired. Take some courses from Amazon!!!!!
Poor shipping, damaged items
They have shipped me the same set of pans 5 times now. They all arrive damaged due to poor packaging. They also don't actually allow negative reviews on products, so there is no way to warn other customers that this particular item is poorly packaged and will arrive damaged. We are going on over a month now where they have my money and I have damaged pans I have to keep returning because they cannot manage to ship things in any logical manner.
Chips, lines and bubbles in paint on all plates
Just got nutcracker plates from crate and barrel. All the plates (I ordered 4) came with defects - chips in paint and bubbles and lines in paint. Left a review on crate and barrel website and the review was rejected because “my problem was a fulfillment issue”. Terrible experience and disappointing product and disappointing response from the company.
Don’t order at Crate and Barrel
Ordered lots of stuff, sofa, lighting, dining chairs. Always delays! Already cancelled lots of stuff. Mid July received an email for delay of a pendent we ordered in June for delivery next month. Email says sorry delayed… mid august. Its mid September now. After many calls and promises to be called back nothing happens. Walked into the store to talk to a manager. She would look into this and get back to us. Good thing, she did get back to us! But she couldn’t give us an answer on where the pendant was or when it would come in.
Received info about delivery of sofa; Good news! Sept 23. But the manager now says… noooo sorry the system says mid October now. Crate and Barrel has a huge logistical problem. Employees acknowledge this openly. Don’t order at Crate and Barel!
Company has gone downhill with new CEO who doesn't care about customers
Can't commit to delivery dates and customer service is highly fragmented with no accountability. Items arrived damaged and delivery drivers are not trustworthy.
Today, I was expecting to receive 2 items. At first the delivery driver said he had 1 item for me. After I showed him my order receipt, he looked at his phone and said, "Oh yes, we have 2 items for you."
He suspiciously decided to unpack the first item on the street instead of my bedroom, and "discovered damage" It was very obvious they knew beforehand, with the slip up of "only 1 item for you"
Never order ANYTHING from Crate and Barrel, especially if it's a special order or they can't give you a delivery date immediately.
For over 8 months I received limited information about my order but I had to PAY 50% up front.
I feel sorry for the customer service representatives. The problem is at the very top, the CEO only cares about profits and boosting revenue and seemingly has deprioritized the customer experience.
Perhaps she should look at Wayfair as an example. They have exceled at delivery during a global pandemic. I've ordered multiple items from Wayfair with much better communication, customer service, and delivery.
Such a shame, because Crate and Barrel used to have an exemplary reputation. Not anymore.
I will never order anything again from crate and barrel and will tell my extensive network about my terrible experience.
I work for CB and let me tell you...
Besides not paying a living wage worthy of all the nasty, screaming customers, CB is exhibiting all the signs of a company not paying its vendors and headed toward Chapter 11 bankruptcy. I used to work for furniture company that went bankrupt and I know what I'm seeing (again). With backorders on simple items like dishes out until 2023:
1) Do not sign up for the credit card
2) Do not order Made To Order furniture
3) If anyone tells you cannot cancel something, dispute it with your credit card company and get the charge reversed (especially Made to Order furniture)
I listen to your complaints every day, 40 hrs/week and I'm on your side. They are listening in to every conversation (calls and chat) and are more concerned with your review of us than they are about the reason you had to contact us in the first place. Worst company I've ever worked for.
I love crate and barrel quality
I love crate and barrel quality, however before placing an order, it would be respectful to the consumer to inform them of delays of more than a few weeks!! So that if they wanted to choose another item from a registry perhaps … they would be free to do that !!
