I attended Crowleys Newbridge recently…

I attended Crowleys Newbridge recently for an important repair. I had sapped off the arm on one side so I was flying on one wing which is never good while wearing your reading glasses. The repair was done quickly and efficiently. I received a text and a call to tell me my glasses were ready to my great relief! No charge, service with a smile. Now I’m back flying again with both wings attached. Thank you Crowleys and happy Christmas to you all.

Kind, helpful and knowledgeable

I had a lovely experience going for my eye test checkup - the optician explained every step in the test in detail to me and made me feel very comfortable, even when I was struggling to see the letters. I then was helped by another man to pick out my new frames and he was so kind and helpful. He explained what I would be paying for in good detail, ensuring I made the right decision but still gave me the floor to choose the style I liked best. I’ve come away feeling very excited for my new glasses. Thank you! :)

Special thanks

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Crowleys Opticians in Ballincollig, and I must say, the experience exceeded my expectations. It wasn't just a quick walk-in and out; I had a more involved case that required thorough attention and care. Laura, who handled my appointment, was exceptional from start to finish. Her professionalism and expertise were evident in every interaction. Laura’s attention to detail and genuine concern for my glasses was impressive. She kept in regular contact, updating me on the progress of my case and ensuring that everything was on track. It's not often you come across someone who combines such a high level of skill with a warm, friendly approach. I would highly recommend Crowleys Opticians to anyone in need of comprehensive eye care, especially if you're fortunate enough to be served by Laura.

everything was perfect

I have been to Crowlys in Cork city. I was sent by my company to check for laboratory and personal glasses. I have been to different optician before that who was super expensive and gave me wrong glasses. So, I was told that my company deal with them cause they are one of the best. This was correct. They take long time checking my eye as we used the old methods. They took long time checking and measuring the glasses. As well they were so keen on having it all right after I got it. Thanks very much , every one was really nice and really good.

Unfortunately not what I expected

Due to Covid restrictions I could not travel to my usual optician so looked up local providers as I required an appointment. Given Crowleys reputation locally and the professional appearance of their stores I was confident I'd receive a professional service.
I'll try to keep this brief. At initial consultation I advised the optician that I had recently been having minor headaches and struggled to read the computer text first thing in the morning. The optician recommended a change in prescription which was fine and this resulted in the purchase of new glasses (I had the original prescription for the previous 2 yrs). When the glasses arrived, I tried them in store but the vision was blurred. I was advised by the optician to take the glasses away for a week to let my eyes adjust. After a week of no change I returned the glasses. I got re-examined and was told that conditions in the examination room are different to the outside world so the prescription was adjusted. This was done and again after a week of trying to wear the glasses, my vision was still blurred. The optician then reverted back to my original prescription, which again after a week of trying to wear, my vision was blurred. I returned to the store again where the advice initially was to wear the glasses again but to stop using my existing (old) glasses as a reference for the clarity of the new ones. By me asking further question this led the advisor to do another check. It transpired that the axis of the lenses that were installed by Crowleys were wrong. This was amended and the lenses were then fine. So what's my problem you may ask!
My issue is that, I have spent over €500 on glasses I wouldn't have purchased had I been told at the start that my prescription wasn't going to change. I queried whether now that the axis issue had been rectified should my prescription not revert back to what the optician originally advised in order to address the headaches and issue reading computer text. I was given a technical jargon response as if to add a smoke screen to the opticians failings and told the glasses are fine. I'm left still struggling with the computer text and glasses with the same prescription that I walked into the store with on day one and at an expense of €500 for the pleasure.
It's the handling of the situation that I'm frustrated with but I can only assume that I'm in the minority given the companies longevity etc. I acknowledge that errors can be made but sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say I got it wrong.

Very disappointed

I have been wearing glasses since I was 12 years old age- and while I have wornmany styles of frames - after 6 weeks of waiting I was not happy with the lenses on the frame that I selected . I have considerable bad eyesight and of course I always go for the slimest lense . Thus the cost factor. I was informed there was nothing more that they cd do - I paid 1150 . Ok I accept my prescription may have been somewhat difficult.vary-focal . But for a business to send a person away saying they can’t provide a pair of glasses to suit your prescription . ,,, Very very disappointed. And now I have to go to another optician and start the process all over again . I have never posted a negative review on any business. But I cannot believe the unprofessional manner Crowley’s Options Newbridge have treated me .
