Disappointing

I hadn’t realised this hotel was on a busy one way street into Lyndhurst- not the country house hotel it appears to depict in the pictures online (my bad for not doing a Google Street view). So that was disappointing. The room itself was perfunctory. A nice 4 poster bed but the rest of the room furniture was standard hotel fayre and a bit shabby. The bathroom was fine but a bit dusty in places. But perhaps the worst aspect of the stay was the boiling hot coffee pot that was knocked on me by the waitress. Entirely an accident. The restaurant manager immediately fetched ice in a bag that I could hold on my arms, and dealt with it all very well. When we went to check out the manager (maybe?) asked if everything was okay. My husband’s reply to the manager on the desk mwas you do know boiling coffee was poured over my wife? “oh yes, I heard about it” he replied . We were stunned at this response. My husband told him it should be logged in their accident book (which the manager didn’t seem to have thought about). He did say we will take something of the bill. This ended up being £60 for the drinks we consumed the night before.Expected more than this but stunned into silence and stupidly just paid up. In its favour, the staff were lovely and the food in the restaurant and at breakfast was very good. But certainly will never go back there again.

No way a dog tolerant Hotel

If you are looking for a pet friendly Hotel this is their pet policy. A charge of £20 per night will be added to your bill Your dog cannot be left alone in your room when you are not in the Hotel. If dining or enjoying a drink please advise the Front Desk if your pet is unattended in your guest room. Apart from a guide dog, your dog is not able to join you in the Crown's bar&grill or at breakfast. You accept liability and responsibility for your pet within the Hotel grounds, ensuring they use the area for fouling and to compensate the Hotel if your dog barks disturbing other guests, fouls the room, chews the furniture or sleeps on the bed. Friendly? Not even tolerant. I promptly cancelled my booking and got a better hotel for dogs. The best dog friendly hotels are The White Buck, Burley. Passford House Lymington Woodlands Lodge Woodlands and The cottage lodge Brockenhurst. No pets discrimination .

Very enjoyable stay

We stayed for a surprise 2 nights last weekend as it was my wife’s birthday. Booked direct with the hotel.
We had an excellent stay, the hotel is very comfortable and clean. On entering our room there was a lovely gift left waiting for my wife on behalf of the hotel management and staff. The room was spacious the bed was extremely comfortable. With plenty of tea coffee facility’s. The Hotel is an historic building and we loved the decor from recent refurbishment that went hand in hand in hand with the building. The lift I found fantastic as that alone has its historic values. Breakfast was very good, a great selection including the cooked breakfast. We booked into the Hotels restaurant for a birthday meal that didn’t disappoint, a fabulous 3 course from a great selection. All of the staff are so nice helpful and professional, they work hard to ensure your stay is comfortable and memorable.

Bed and breakfast

Just spent 2 nights with breakfast, staff very friendly and helpful, the room was lovely with everything you 'd need, and the breakfast was out of this world with a vast selection of foods and drinks .

Lovely hotel, great staff

Lovely hotel, great staff, always chatty and there to help if needed. Rooms clean and tidy. Food in restaurant is great and service is very good. Breakfast choice is amazing and well presented. Try their afternoon tea as this is brilliant. We visit every year, will be back soon.

Awful hotel with exceptionally rude staff…

Awful hotel with exceptionally rude staff and poor customer service. Do not say here if you want a peaceful and relaxing break. The rooms are dated and not well cleaned and the noise from the road and church bells is unbearable. Bell ringing goes well into the evening and the busy road never stops. At night it’s a ‘boy racer’ hot spot and continues throughout the night.

The worst part is how the staff handle any problems. Not taking any responsibility, not trying to find a solution and sniggering in a customers face is exactly what I experienced.

Since then no one will responded to my emails or calls, having being promised a refund that I haven’t received I am £184 worse off for a hotel room that I didn’t stay in as it wasn’t fit for purpose.

Do yourself a favour and enjoy the New Forest else where. This isn’t the worst hotel I’ve stayed in but it’s without doubt the worst customer service I’ve experienced. AVOID!!

Beware-this hotel has bed bugs!

Got bitten by bed bugs! The hotel deny they have them, but there's no other explanation!
Very disappointed they refused to refund the cost of the room- the least they could have done.
