Stay away!!

Where do I start? When I signed up for a locker I was told my rent would start on the 1st of each month.

When I went to pay they insisted that I would lose my locker if I didn't pay on the day I was there making my rent due on the 20th instead of the 1st which caused me to be late monthly. THEN after about a year, I went there to pick up an item and found that the lock hasp had been hack-sawed. I contacted the management and they informed me that it was like that when I moved in - IT WAS NOT. I went back the following week, more saw marks, dents in the door and the hasp had been pried and actually had pulled one of the bolts through the metal.

STILL nothing was done. I purchased a new hasp on my own from an online distributor and got the wrong one so I had to purchase another ($40 total for both). Now the door only opens 1/2 way because I had to put large washers on to hold the hasp in place. On to the next rant...Elevator was out of service for close to a year.

They'd like you to believe that there are security cameras BUT they are only located at the elevators giving crooks plenty of time to saw your hasp off. Did I mention that there are people living in the storage units? There was an occasion I went to get a few items and a woman was doing her laundry in the restroom AND using 2 carts. I said something about it to the attendant who told me that as long as her cube was paid that there was nothing he could do.

There's very little lighting in the unit, so I brought in a drop light so I could see what I was doing while getting things out. Recently the decided to remove all the outlets so now I have to use a flashlight.

There a seldom carts available so if you need a cart, bring your own. The only good thing I can say is the staff are polite and professional.

Do yourself a favor and don't rent from CubeSmart!

I had four cubes rented from the CubeSmart location #4309 in Katy, Tx. for several years. Due to medical bills, I got behind on my payments, and lost two of my units through a lien auction. I own that. My responsibility. Texas Law states that all proceeds from a self-storage lien auction go to the original owner of the properties, which is me. These auctions were on 03/15, with one unit selling for an excess of $5500 and another selling for an excess of over $15,000. Fast forward 30 days and all I have received from CubeSmart is lies and excuses. The Property Manager, Toni Thompson, first said that CubeSmart would keep all excess funds because, and I quote her, "We need the money". I escalated my complaint to the District Manager Douglas Johnson, who told the property manager on a conference call with me that she was wrong and that I was owed all excess funds. Since that time, nothing...and getting a call back from Douglas Johnson is almost impossible. When he does finally return a call, he acts as if he knows nothing. I finally received an email from CubeSmart Corporate on 03/25/2024 that the smaller check ($5500) had been mailed. That was 21 days ago and still nothing. I asked Mr. Johnson for tracking and he said that CubeSmart would simply mail the check in a regular envelope with a stamp on it to save money. So I have now lost my property and the excess funds from the sale of the property. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from any CubeSmart location. They are horribly overpriced, the facilities are average at best, and the employees are rude, arrogant, and ignorant to the laws. The entire business is a sham and a bunch of crooks.

Very accessible location

Very accessible location, very close to my office, so it's a very comfortable arrangement for me. Sometimes the customer service could be better, but usually, it is great. Who knows, maybe someone had a bad day. Prices are very fair too.

Cubesmart is a breeding ground for crime

WHERE: Summerlin Nevada (please know I was told these breakins are happening all over the Las Vegas Valley

Do not rent from cubesmart they don't care about your property, 5months ago I had a van and trailer stolen with high end scooters in the trailer, they cut the lock on the exit gate and drove it off the property. Cubesmart fixed the gate BUT NEVER LOOKED AT THE VIDEO OF WHY THE GATE WAS CUT. 28hrs later when I went to get my van is when we found out it was gone. Someone damages Cubesmarts property and you don't check the video?? When the manager comes in we tell him what happens, he says to go to police and he will check out the film and file a police report..After going to the police station I was able to find my van and trailer within 30min, but most of the contents of the trailer was missing..4:30pm arrives and I have not heard anything from this manager "Kevin", so I called to find out what's happening on his end. He said he looked at the video, saw 2 people jump over a fence, break into my van, drive up to the gate, cut the chain and drive my property right off the Cubesmart property...but Cubesmart never checked out the video until I told them...again, someone cut the lock of the property but you never looked at the video.so 5months later I have NEVER heard from anyone at Cubesmart..until 3/31/24, I get a call from someone else renting at Cubesmart that the property was broken into during the night, cops were involved, and this person had a gun. When I got there I inspect my vehicle and saw they tried to get into my passenger door window and the black rubber around the window was cut up..the exit gate was chained closed so it wouldn't open...some sort of note on the gate would have been nice..trying to back up a 24ft trailer and 15ft van isn't the easiest thing to do on that property. Nobody from Cubesmart notified us that someone tried to break into my property AGAIN, so I emailed thier "contact me" from the website on 4/1 about this issue...later I get a call from someone in corporate in California..I explained the issues again on the phone...I asked him why was the video not looked at when the lock was found broken...I the answer I got was "I don't know" I asked about the police report, he said there was no police report attached to my file..I asked where is the police report, the answer again was "I don't know"...I asked why we weren't notified about the second breaking, he said they don't notified thier customers about these break-ins...so my property might have been compromised but Cubesmart doesn't want me to know my property might have been compromised..I was also told by this "corporate" that these breakins happen all the time at the properties in Las Vegas, Cubesmart makes you sign a contract saying they are not responsible for this....but Cubesmart isn't telling the customers of these breakins with the contract..this is what the legal term "disclosure" falls under. I was also told by this "corporate" that if they catch the person destroying the property they fill out the police report BUT CUBESMART NEVERS GOES TO COURT AND NEVER SEEKS COMPENSATION FOR DAMAGE...ummm if Cubesmart doesn't show up for trail how can this person be charged? This person will be let go or plea out to something much lesser...Cubesmart is enabling this to continue, it is becoming a breeding ground for crime because Cubesmart isn't protecting your property and these criminals know Cubesmart isn't showing up to court, but our monthly rent keeps going up, I guess the customer is liable for the damages of these criminals. I was told by "corporate" that they would give me 1month free rent but when I told him I was telling my story on social media he said that they weren't going to "reward" me with 1 month...so at this point I blow up at this idiot...I have over $60k stolen off your property and Cubesmart considers 1 month rent as a 'reward"...a-hole move...but this should tell you exactly what kind of business this is, your property is not secure at any Cubesmart..here is the number to this "corporate" if need (530) 523-3002 (ask about the "reward" for your stolen property)...so now I am going to the police dept to get a copy of the police report from Cubesmart, my guess is this guy "Kevin" never did a police report..and while I am there I am doing a f.o.i.a. on the there properties in Vegas, we will find out how many times the police are at these locations and why...please know when police are involved, police are paid for by the public, the public is allowed to ask for police reports on these properties...as long as Cubesmart had done its job and filed these reports. No thank you cubesmart, I don't want your "reward" for my freedom of speech

Cubesmart on Mayport Rd Atlantic Beach, Fl.

Cubesmart on Mayport Rd. in Atlantic Beach, Fl. Everything went wrong. I just received a check for $2.00. I expected to get a lot more than that as my storage unit had a roof leak and I moved all of what I had stored there. When Pan Am owned the same place I had to move to a different locker, also due to a roof leak. I would not recommend this storage facility to anyone! I called to complain about the roof leak and was told that I had not purchased storage insurance from them (which I was not informed about) and there was nothing they could do. I figure I lost more than $600 worth of what I had stored there.

Too many price increases, bad customer service

Fine I guess , as far as they have units and you put your stuff in them. My unit seemed dirty with insulation falling from the ceiling. Lots of mice droppings on top of my plastic crates.

My biggest problem is how they raise costs. Twice in 18 months. Last year (2023) my unit increased and I tried to call to negotiate but could not get through and so I emailed the manager directly without a response. That’s problem number one with cost increases. When I tried to explain this, the manager (Curtis) got very defensive and prattled on without allowing me to provide him with what I’m about to state in this review. Not the best customer service.

On November 30, 2023 I received notice that the rent on my 5x10 unit was being raised to $150 per month. So I quickly booked the same size unit over at Extra Space in Salisbury for $65 per month and moved out on December 2nd.

Issues that I have - The rent increase notice comes on November 30, leaving no time to move out before incurring another month's rent. There are no refunds. The notices for increase in both years (2022 and 2023) come during a time of year when people would be busy with the holidays and at a time of year where it could potentially be too cold to move. That stopped me last year from moving but that wasn’t going to happen again this year. I didn’t bother calling or emailing this year based on my experience from the previous year.

I simply moved to a cleaner, newer and less expensive unit on December 2 (first Saturday after receiving rent increase notice in the mail). I still have to pay rent for December of course since I was still in the unit on December 1, but they leave you no option since the rent increase comes via post on November 30. A mid month notice would help so any move out could happen before rent is due for the next month. Easy since they have my email and cell phone but they choose to force you into renting for another month.

Why didn’t I just stay for December since I paid? Because I knew the weather this weekend is in the 40s and I don’t know what the weather will look like if I waited to move in late December. Also take note that late December is Xmas and New Years. Seems to be a pretty good (sarcasm) tactic on the part of Cube Smart to make it very difficult to move out.

Note that I had 2 increases in only 1.5 years.

Also note that it took me less than 1 hour to pick up a van for $19 and move everything to another company/unit. Anyone with a smaller unit like mine should be aware of how easy it is to move to a new location and not bow to these tactics of late notice during the cold and busy months.

I was a long term renter of this…

I was a long term renter of this facility in green bay when it was sold and Cube not so smart took over, from being broke into lack of security, place was vandalized and gas station next doors cameras helped find who broke in, the prices they charge with increases for our area might work for a while but surely will lose the long term renters, moved out and rented another unit for less than half of what they want, corporation storage owners, managers care only about themselves and stock prices along with the ceo making millions off this high priced operation. move out and find cheaper units in the area, a handful of 2x4's, cheap garage door and sheet metal and building not maintained isn't worth what they are taking from the locals "because the market bears it" its a shame

They JACK UP YOUR rent a few months in!!

At first it seemed perfect. It’s clean and affordable as feels safe . But after a few months they Jack up your rent no matter how many units you have. There is no discount for multiple units. And the low price is to lure you in but they don’t care about long term customers they only care about YOUR MONEY!!

CubeSmart Does not care about long-term customers

This business does not care about their long-term customers...I don't understand why people are so quick to give them five stars...when they lock you out your unit and/or quick to cut your lock and auction your belongings...your five star review of them won't be the same. I was a business, and they cut my lock, placed the cut lock inside my unit and had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to buy another lock...I closed my accounts, and I had a few units there. They were not getting my inventory for cheap, and nor was anyone else. I would never rent with CubeSmart again anywhere. Always increasing the rent, but to get you in they lower the price, and tell you according to market rate, so why don't you decrease the customer's rent, if the market is down.

Exorbitant frequent rate increases

For the past three years CubeSmart has been raising the rent exhorbantly every 6-12 months. Roughly 3 times the rate of inflation. Greed is the only reason for increases of this magnitude. I will move out just because of this. I had even asked about rate increases upon signing. Their response was small and infrequent which was a lie. No wonder they would not provide longer term contracts. My advice is find a different provider.
