DO NOT USE THIS ISP.

DO NOT USE THIS ISP.
0/10 service, reliability and overall rating. Do not use this ISP.

I would not recommend this ISP at all. It was a rocky start from day one, with constant internet problems and my connection being down for over a week right after I signed up.

I have now tried to do a change of ownership, as I am moving out but the other tenant is staying. Instead they are forcing me to cancel completely so they can charge a fresh R399 activation fee on the new account. This is a recent internal change they have made, and to me it is ridiculous. A change of ownership should be straightforward.

On top of that, when I tried to sort it out through their WhatsApp support line, the person handling it kept pushing the activation fee and would not listen. I had to ask to speak to a manager multiple times before anything happened.

I then got a call from someone named Bianca who clearly does not understand the basics of client service. She did not acknowledge my frustration once and became hostile on the call. After all of that I am still none the wiser about what is actually happening with my account.

There are over 200 ISPs in this country and this is the absolute last one I would consider.

Do Not Recommend

Service is extremely inconsistent and unreliable. We run an office and have struggled with connection for the past 2 years. Even after investing more funds into new routers and extenders. They do not take responsibility and it is impossible to get them to send a team out to fix the issue. Money wasted trying to have consistent wifi that works. Do not recommend.

Long Term Good

I have worked with these people for over tn years and I trust them mostly. I do understand that they have challenges with personal service as do all mass market ISPs. Their network is excellent and their prices are low.

WORKING WITH CYBERSMART ACTUALLY MADE…

WORKING WITH CYBERSMART ACTUALLY MADE ME BURST A VEIN FROM ANGER AND FRUSTRATION! IT HAS BEEN 6 DAYS NOW OF PURE DELIBERATING PAIN! COUNTLESS CALLS AND EMAILS HAVE BEEN LOGGED, COUNTLESS TESTS COMPLETED. EVERYTIME I CALL IN TO TRY RESOLVE I HAVE TO SPEAK TO A DIFFERENT PERSON AND OF COURSE THE CALL WILL BE CUT OFF AFTER A TIME (YES THEY DO PLAN THIS) AND THE WHOLE FRUSTRATING PROCESS WILL HAVE TO START ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!!!! PS: CYBERSMART I WILL CARRY ON POSTING BAD REVIEWS UNTIL YOU HAVE RESOLVED MY FIBRE ISSUES

WORSE than Telkom

In July last year, in good faith I agreed to lock myself into a 24-month contract for fibre broadband after Cybermsart approached my body corporate and touted their fibre as a panacea for the evils of ADSL. They promised we'd have lightning-fast internet by November. After numerous stretches of inexplicable radio silence and mounting frustration within the block, we finally got fibre - almost a year later. That's when my troubles started.

I cancelled my Telkom ADSL line and sold my perfectly operational Huawei wifi router (because Cybersmart installed their own as part of the deal). Ever since, I have experienced constant wifi outages. Nothing works properly because the signal keeps dropping. I have spent goodness know how many Rands calling the Support line, holding forever, then having the Support guys keep changing various settings - which fix the problem "now" but tomorrow I get the same problem. Other than one Support guy, none of them bothered to log my calls, so every subsequent call I get told that they don't have a record of my prior complaints. I was without internet for two days after I emailed Support and the guy threatened to charge me a R750 callout fee if it turned out I was wrong (!!) and forced me to take the router to their offices for testing. When I got my sister to take it in, it turns out that we should NEVER have unplugged the router in the first place! I had two wait two days for Cybersmart to "find" a technician to reinstate my internet connection - two days which they happily continued to bill me for.

After numerous calls and emails (and excuses, and more Support people saying they'd get back to me but never doing so), I eventually got told to call a company called Gummy to deal with the router problem - apparently Cybermsart is not in business of fixing their own faulty routers. I called Gummy on Friday; the guy said he'd check it out and call me back. He never did. I'm still stuck with a faulty router and constant wifi outages.

Conclusion: Cybersmart is an arrogant, incompetent company. There is ZERO accountability and they couldn't be bothered once they have your money. Save yourself the headache and stick to Telkom, or hold out for another fibre player to come into your area.
