Not caring about the dogs

This organization is not living up to its aim of rehoming dachshunds in need to a safe, loving forever home with people who understand the quirks of the breed.

PUBLIC STATEMENT REGARDING DRA AND…

I founded World Dachshund Day (WDD) in 2019 as an independent, global celebration of dachshunds. The original vision and mission, set out in the first Instagram post on 21 May 2019, was simple: to celebrate dachshunds worldwide, bring together the community in joy and compassion, and raise funds for local dachshund rescues everywhere — not exclusively for any single organisation.

According to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), the current Responsible People for Dachshund Rescue Australia (DRA) are:
• Andrea Takacs — Director
• Felecity Hoof — Treasurer
• Karan Cleveland — Secretary
• Lisa Gordeno — Chairperson

None of these individuals were involved in DRA’s leadership when WDD was created.

This board has since lodged a trade mark application for the WDD logo I designed, and in September 2025 filed a Statement of Claim against me and another former volunteer, through their solicitor Warren Krass of Provenance Partners Legal. My request for an extension of time to file a Defence was refused. A decision from IP Australia regarding the trade mark is expected in November 2025.

I will defend the claim fully. WDD remains what it has always been: a community-driven, inclusive initiative, independent of any single organisation and focused on celebrating dachshunds and supporting their welfare worldwide.
