Ordered a dress as a wedding guest (~$200), which did not fit and I want to return it (it's only been 10 days since I received it so it's eligible; and it's not on clearance or final sale). On the My... See more

My daughter fell in love with a Prom…
My daughter fell in love with a Prom dress in Davids Bridal Watford last year in the sale. It was the last one they had but was 2 sizes to big for her. The sales team assured me the alterations team could do anything to fix it and make it fit and that the alterations were not that expensive, figures around £60-£100 were quoted. Fair enough. Fast forward to getting an actual quote for alterations and I've just been quoted over £230! Utterly outrageous, dishonest service. A bride was having the exact same issue with her wedding dress. The sales team will basically tell you anything to get a sale. Unless the dress you're buying fits you perfectly or needs very minimal alterations to 'make it work' I would steer clear or at the very least mentally add £200-£300 on top of your purchase price and then decide if its still the 'dress of your dreams'.
Run, Don't Walk Away From Here
I ordered my dress back in December and they lost it so much and kept telling me different stories about where it was. I got it very end of March (but barely). I contacted customer service so many times and they refused to do a thing for me. They kept telling me that it was in in store order and that I had to deal with the store. I kept having to go down to the store in person many times and they could not even find my dress. I needed this dress altered and they told me it would be at least another month until they could get to it. Well if I waited that long, I'd have no dress for my wedding. Jokes on me though in the end because I had to take it some place else and pay them another 350 dollars and it still doesn't fit right because they couldn't alter it properly due to the fact they do not have the beads there. I spent over 1k on a dress I can not wear. You literally can not call them or email them since they do not care about you and will not respond. I literally could only recommend this place if the dress fits you and you can walk out with it. I should have went elsewhere when it took them 5x to alter my friends wedding dress since they kept screwing that up too.
Great service.
Yesterday I accompanied my daughter to an appointment with Tracey. As a bridesmaid she discovered her dress was too tight and as my daughter lives in Leeds she was anxious to get a dress to fit. Tracey was marvellous throughout, very understanding and she found the same dress (different colour) in a size that fitted. Tracey ordered the dress in the original colour and arranged an appointment for any alterations to be made. Everything was done in a calm, relaxed way which greatly helped my daughter feel more confident. Thank you so much Tracey great service!
Definitely not customer focused
I wish there had a bigger selection for my size range. The sales assistant tried her best but a lot of the dresses online are not in the store. When I found a dress and suggested some changes the sales assistant said those changes ould be addressed with alterations.
So I ordered extra material to make the alterations and the website said 2-3 weeks for delivery. When I checked with their "text only customer service", I was informed that the material would not shipped for 9-10 weeks.
When I had my appointment for alterations, I was told those alterations could not be made because it would change the dress design.
To top it off the alterations were 1 1/2 times the cost of the dress. Had I known how pricey the alterations would be I would have gone elsewhere and had all of the alterations made that I wanted.
Wow, wow wow!!
I dont normally write reviews but I felt that I have to gush about how amazing the Birmingham (UK) store is and the service. The staff are lovely and so helpful, and the alterations team are absolute stars. I had a first class experience from start to finished and not only are the dresses beautiful (I bought the first one I tried on) they are also super-affordable. I may go back for another one and turn it into a party dress.
Went to David’s Bridal
Went to David’s Bridal - West Palm Beach to purchase shoes to match a dress I purchased on Saturday, March 25 (same store) i Was greeted upon entry and told she would meet me in the back by shoes. After 10 minutes, she comes to the back to pickup shoes someone purchased. I asked for sales assistance and was told she would send someone to help me. After an additional 10 minutes I walked to the front to leave and the SAME salesperson thanked me for stopping in. When I advised I was leaving because I WAS NOT served. She apologized and NEVER offered to assist me. The shoes I wanted to purchase were $100.00.
I’ll spend my money elsewhere from now on.
I would like to leave a review for the…
I would like to leave a review for the Braehead store in glasgow, and specifically Team member Katie that assisted me with advice and fitting of wedding dress. I think it’s important to begin with stating a white bridal dress had been my worst nightmare and today it became a reality (I said yes to the dress) simply down to the excellence in customer service I received from Katie. Katie from first meeting today until process of sale was INCREDIBLE! I really had no clue what I was looking for. She guiding me , providing advice and increased my confidence to eventually plucking up the courage to try a dress on. Her product knowledge was vast although was made simple for a first time bride to navigate.
The store is well laid out and changing rooms were lovely.
I hope this review will trigger well deserved recognition for Katie, passionate and professional staff are a rarity!
I shall be coming back for my reveal appt and look forward to seeing Katie and my dress again.
Thanks you so very much Lynne Anderson ❤️👰♀️
I said yes to the dress!

Avoid like the plague, unless you like being lied to, manipulated and people wasting your time.
Buying your wedding dress should be a wonderful experience - a moment that lasts forever for the bride. Initially, my fiancée had the experience and was sold the dream.
In reality, I think she was more than likely sold a lie from start to finish. A lie that the store doubled down on multiple occasions stacking lie after lie on top of each other. Everyone willing to blame everyone else but nobody actually willing to take any ownership to resolve any issues. Mistakes happen, with clear lines of communication and actions this can be resolved - the only thing clear in this instance is that they had no real interest in doing so.
My partner arrived at the Watford store for her initial visit - she tried on many dresses and at this point the service was good. She did not manage to find a dress that she wanted and the staff mentioned this 'new dress not for sale yet only available in America' - WOW this made her feel special. Until she googled it and found out it was in the discount section over there and probably was not on the shelf in store anymore because it was old stock. Anyway that was overlooked because the dress was the one.
Well, visit one ended happily - the dress was chosen and my partner arranged a second visit to show her mother the dress. She drove the hour and a half journey for the third time now eager to show her mother the dress. She arrived at the store and they could not find it. They tried to tell her it was a different dress she had liked (I mean come on) and my partner had to mention that they found this fresh from America dress out back. Sure enough there it was (staff were utterly clueless - had no idea what dress she liked). Relieved that the dress was still there and under the promise that getting the dress would not be an issue, we paid for it.
Here we go to visit three - my partner arrived again at the store to finally collect the dress of her dreams. Feeling that not everything was right, she tried the dress on. Sure enough, they had ordered the wrong size. My partner insisted on trying on the dress they had in stock - this fit perfectly and was the correct size - all the staff had to do was order literally the same dress as the one they had - how do you even manage to mess this up? Heartbroken, my partner returned again without the dress. This time it was on the promise that the correct dress had been ordered from America whilst she was in the store. Frustrated but hopeful, she left the store. She was told that she would be informed on multiple occasions updates regarding where the dress was. She was told she would receive email's and calls - over a week passed and she heard nothing. She had to do the chasing again. When she questioned why they could not ring America she was told it could take up to 2 hours to get through or a response - something they magically managed to do in 5 minutes the week before when she was in the store.
Finally, the manager of the store calls - the dress is in. Despite having previously told us on the phone they could not give any updates earlier in the day on more than one occasion. Finally my partner has piece of mind. No wait, she phones back moments later to ask 'why had she ordered the extra length was it because of her height or to do something with it' - she insinuated this was because there would not be any time to alter it.
Today, we were contacted to ask if my partner wanted to order a 12 extra length despite the manager already telling us it was here. My partner then called back to check the confusion and someone reassured her 100% the dress was in store.
Somebody then called her a little while later to say that the dress has been incorrectly ordered and that the extra length can not be ordered - despite being told it had and it was there.
So here we are, my partner either has a dress that is too short or we have to get a refund and try to find a new dress with a quickly approaching deadline.
Avoid like the plague, unless of course you like being lied to, manipulated and people wasting your time.
Jess was what made our experience…
Jess was what made our experience 'great'. She was fantastic so helpful, patient and friendly. We left David's feeling very excited about our next appointment for our Bridesmaids dress fittings.

Buyer beware
Be wary of the return policy which is a paltry 7 days! And please don’t expect to be assisted by a human being. I waited FIVE HOURS for a return text. Yes, a “customer service” text. Will never shop here again.
Disappointing
I can’t tell you how disappointed I was with my bridesmaid dresses, they arrived extremely crumpled & smelling musty.
While I was in store collecting them I raised my concerns to the lady who was helping me & she said that was just the way that they came!
I would never use them again or recommend them & I took my business elsewhere to purchase my wedding dress. Thankfully the lady at the boutique where I have purchased my wedding dress has offered to steam them free of charge because she could see how disappointed I was.
Please avoid
Please avoid. They say there'll always be one supplier who causes a massive headache for your wedding and for me it was David's Bridal. To sum up the whole miserable experience, it's mixed messaging at every step, especially as concerns cost. We'd be told one thing, and then at the next step be told we were wrong and couldn't have what we'd been told (for example, dresses could be collected and there would be a 14-day exchange window from that point... they wouldn't agree to that even though it's on their website, receipts, and on a sign on their counter). The managers send the junior staff to do their dirty work and won't talk to you. Dresses must always be collected within specific windows on specific days - do not factor at all the realities of women's busy lives and expect you to arrange everything around them. My sisters work full time and two have babies, even so there was zero flexibility- disgusting treatment of working mothers. Unhelpful and upsetting experience. It's a shame as the on-the- ground staff who do fittings and such are very helpful, but the organisation itself is rotten to the core, and the management is appalling. Not to mention costs completely inflated and always higher than quoted.
Re Stratford westfield
Re Stratford westfield
Terrible management. They don't have any flexibility for you to book an appointment at a convenient time once you have paid for dresses and alterations. I work full time with a young baby and cannot attend on a Thursday or Friday to try on my dress so they told me I'd have to get someone else to pick it up and sign a waiver to confirm they won't help if their alterations haven't been done correctly. They also lied about costs of alterations so we were caught out after we had already agreed to the alterations. There have been a few incidents like this whilst dealing with them and it has been really upsetting for my sister the bride. The staff on the floor are lovely but the management and policies are very harsh and centred around money with no focus on customer experience.
Bridesmaid dress shopping
Attended David's Bridal in Braehead today to shop for bridesmaids dresses for 3 of my girls and had the best experience! I cannot stress enough just how wonderful Caroline was, she went above and beyond for us and made the appointment so special. Left very happy after each girl said yes to their dress! Thanks again Caroline, you are a superstar!
Do not visit for your first wedding dress appointment, but well-priced dresses, accurate measurements and the alterations department were excellent.
I would recommend for well-priced dresses, accurate measurements and the alterations department.
I would not recommend David’s Bridal for a first wedding dress appointment as mine was rather rushed, I came in on a week day but still had to share my appointment with another customer, I was able to try on multiple dresses around 15 in an hour. The assistant measured me correctly and the sizes fit perfectly but the dresses they did not have in my size they did not help to make them fit better as they would do in another store.
They didn’t have a good range of dresses, mostly all covered in lace with similar fits. In the end I did find the dress I wanted, I brought my dress from David’s Bridal online from America as the store in London was reporting long wait times for dresses, it arrived easily and quickly from the USA although slightly more expensive due to taxes but does not come in a dress bag.
I came back to the store to get my alterations done, the fit was perfect after the accurate measuring during my appointment but needed the sleeves altering which costed around £150, they were not pushy during the alterations they offered a few alterations I did not want and gave me the costing of these, around £100 for a 2 layer lift of the hem. Alterations took 4 weeks and no concerns at all on my follow up appointment.
Delaney was absolutely amazing
Delaney was absolutely amazing! She helped me feel beautiful throughout the entire process despite my insecurities and helped me find the best dress for me! My bridesmaids all loved her as well and are so grateful for her help in finding their dresses, too.
Sanabelle
Sanabelle, the lady at David's Bridal in Orland Park, IL made this a totally memorable experience in the best of ways. She was there for me, on the spot. Helped me with dresses, gave honest critiques. Stayed with me throughout the whole "ordeal", trying different dresses, etc. I bought my dress here. This was my 3rd David's Bridal in the Chicagoland area, and not to take away from the others that helped me at the other stores, I'm just saying that Sanabelle was exceptional. Thank you!!
Amazing shop
Amazing shop, beautiful gowns and lovely staff. Lucia helped me choosing the dress of my dreams, she listened to my ideas of what i wanted- she indulged me but then also chose something completely different - I loved it and ended up going for her choice. Sometimes you gotta let the professionals do their job! Amazing work Lucia!
do not recommend unless you want to be rushed and pressured
I went to try on wedding dresses on a Saturday afternoon in the watford branch. The shop was crazy busy and there was way too many people crammed in there. But I can’t blame them too much for that. However, I definitely wouldn’t recommend it after my experience there. I felt very rushed and pressured to buy and when I told the sales lady I was not ready to buy she was clearly upset and her tone was pretty rude and made me feel very uncomfortable. She had promised to give me names/style numbers but she never did. Compared to other places I’ve gone it was really bad. No one helped me in the dresses, they were ripped and covered in makeup. I would also say a lot of the dresses looked super similar and despite there being lots of choice it all felt the same.
