Nice to actually speak with someone whom takes the time, responds immediately and everything sorted in a few hours. Many thanks Tyler.

From a really distressing situation Mike reassured me and was so very thoughtful and compassionate when dealing with my query. I’m very grateful that it was Mike who answered the phone, an excellent call handler who you should be proud to have on your workforce

Not a scam, but very questionable business practice

Whilst not a scam (I did park without making payment), the communication and practice is very poor.

I parked at my local train station - the car park is run by APCOA. Since the last time I had parked there, they'd changed the parking from pay when you leave to pay when you arrive. I didn't realise and so I was parked for a weekend without a proper ticket.

APCOA didn't contact me at all about the original fine, which was £60. Neither did anyone else. The first letter I get - 2 months after the parking issue (and 10 days after the date the letter was apparently sent) - is one from DRP saying that I've missed my chance to pay the £60 and now I owe them £170 with the threat of that becoming £280 if I don't pay now.

There is no option to dispute or take any steps to understand why I am only just hearing about it. It's incredibly dodgy practice. I'm sure a lot of money is being made off the back of minor parking infractions.

The problem I never knew I had and the man that helped sort it

I started my day opening a letter telling me I had a problem £280 parking charge. First I was hearing of this!
So I phoned up Debt Recovery Plus, spoke to a nice gentleman called Mike who was able to calm me down, talk me through the problem, where and when it was caused and a few options. With that I went and looked at the app and I found that I had indeed paid but I got the registration number of my vehicle off by 1.

The I and the O are right next to each other on the keyboard after all.

Having told Mike this, he got me to email him the screenshot of the proof I paid and cancelled the bill.

This gentleman was polite, helped keep me calm and when we found the cause and what had happened it was sorted out very quickly and efficiently. Thanks so much for your help.

Complaint and SAR Ignored While Collection Activity Continued

My 76-year-old father received a debt collection letter from Debt Recovery Plus regarding a private parking charge that he had no prior knowledge of.

Upon receiving the first letter, we immediately contacted both Debt Recovery Plus and Smart Parking to raise a formal complaint and explain the circumstances. We also advised that my father is a pensioner and that the correspondence was causing significant distress.

Since then:

- Complaint emails have been sent to both organisations.
- Subject Access Requests have been submitted.
- Requests for confirmation of receipt have been submitted.
- No substantive response has been received from either company.

Despite this, the collection process has continued to escalate. Further letters have been issued and my father has now received SMS messages stating that it is his "legal responsibility to pay" and encouraging payment arrangements.

Regardless of the underlying parking dispute, I find it unacceptable that escalation activity continues while complaints, SAR requests and vulnerability concerns remain unanswered - from a business that publicly states its values and guiding principles are; accountable, open and transparent, respectful and that they behave with integrity.

Consumers should not be left in a position where collection activity continues but basic correspondence and requests for information, (especially GDPR requests when they have "an in-house dedicated compliance team"), are not being acknowledged or addressed.

I will happily update this review if a substantive response is provided and the issues raised are properly addressed.

It was an urgent matter

It was an urgent matter, as I was leaving the country the following day and the agent initially dealing with the issue was on lunch.
Kiren, rather than refer the matter, kindly addressed and resolved the issue and error with third-party while I was on the call and followed up immediately by email confirmation that the issue was resolved and charge cancelled. Very commendable and professional.

Debt Recovery Plus have excellent customer sèvice

I had struggled with PREMIER PARK relating to a so called debt that had been paid. Premier Park had send the so called debt for debt collection and washed their hands of me. I'm a 75 year old deaf person who was stressed out by this, 26 phone calls by friends and family got the same negative response, despite firm evidence of payment and no way through to Premier Park. Thank goodness for Dept Recovery Plus, I got through to Adam the first human being and bless him he took my evidence and sent it to PCN. Due to his intervention I received an email from Premier Park, no apology surprise surprise, just stating that any further contact from me would not be responded to but an acknowledgement that payment had been made. Well done Adam and Debt Recovery Plus, that's how to respond to people, listen and help. I'm so grateful for their intervention and an end to my stress and aggregation.

Very sneaky company that puts pressure…

Very sneaky company that puts pressure on people to pay parking fines ( which have since been rescinded by parking co) by dated letters earlier than when they send them out , meaning that a letter turns up 1-2 day before their next escalation date …i.e letter dated 1st of the month turns up 13th of the month with the final date to pay on the 14th of the month. Tried to raise a complaint on the phone and the rude operator talked over me then told that she was closing call and put phone down. Scammer , Rude , just trying to rip people off , be warned

Excellent Customer Service and Quick Resolution

I received a letter regarding an outstanding parking charge. After resolving the matter directly with the company that issued the charge, I contacted Debt Recovery Plus to ensure they had received confirmation and that my case would be closed.

The representative who handled my call, Jade, was professional, courteous, and extremely helpful. She confirmed that the case had been closed in less than a day and followed up by email as promised.

I was very pleased with the efficiency of the process and the speed with which the matter was resolved. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service I received.
