Shocking company with no morals

We had a deck fitted in November 2024. By June 2025 we had issues with clips breaking, squeaky boards, boards popping out and then in June 2025 (with the heat) the decking warped around the slider door and across the other side around their aluminium trim. There were also small burn marks visible. We went for their ‘top of the range’ decking and it was expensive. It was the vintage range.

Customer service was non existent once purchase was made and issues began. They didn’t reply to around 15 emails or WhatsApp’s over months (both to their team and owner). Even though we were telling them they were pushing on our slider doors. The only correspondence we had was them turning around and blaming the installer. They didn’t even come and look at the deck themselves.

NOTE always ensure the invoice is in your own name not your fitters as they know this technicality and means you can’t take them to court as even if you paid - your not the customer - believe you me we tried and failed.

Also ensure you follow the warranty as they told us 25 year warranty via what’s apps and didn’t mention you needed to send photos / register this. Obviously this was then pulled up months later by them.

After doing some research many people have had the same issue. Also FYI they have had multiple business names.

Shocking company with no morals.

Strongly advice to go elsewhere. Interestingly Trustpilot has no records of Deckz asking their customers to review them - I wonder why!!

Happy customer !!

Me and my husband are extremely happy with our journey with Deckz Composites.

They helped us visualise our project with photos on WhatsApp. This was so useful because we could send back photos of the space we had and the ideas we wanted to create. Surprised at this detailed and personal service! Highly recommend using this feature Deckz offer!

We got as promised, next day delivery.

Charred cedar cladding looks amazing!
Already recommended this service to our neighbours!

100% recommend

After weeks of ordering cladding samples and discussing our project with different cladding companies, we decided to go with the fortiz duo grey cladding from Deckz. We decided to go with this company due to the helpful customer service team and the quality of the sample. The samples were delivered within 2 days of us ordering them and the staff gave us a call to discuss our project and any questions we had which was great. They sent across pictures of similar projects to help give us a proper idea of how our garden room may look. Drew in the delivery department was very helpful with arranging our delivery around our busy schedule. The quality of the board is just as good as the sample and we couldn't be happier with the whole experience. Thanks again to everyone at DECKZ.

Deckz vintage range 8 months on looks like new.

Me and my wife decided to purchase Deckz products because we had seen them at a bbq we attended and the home owner highly recommended the company.

We purchased the Vintage charred cedar by deckz. The company worked out how much we needed when we gave them sizes over whatapp. Although a pricer option to other companies which we were a little worried about, now its installed we really do see the value. Its been down 8 months now and hasnt changed at all, i was worried about marking and fade due to some other reviews i have read on other ranges, but I cannot say we have experienced any of these problems whats so ever. We are south facing and we have dogs and host parties on the deck frequently.

Dirt - because we purchased a dark colour, we notice you can see muddy shoe marks from our grass when its wet, but my wife just has just hose piped them down and then they go straight away. No issues to date. Wouldnt change our mind on the charred cedar its stunning.

OVERALL - Couldnt be happier. Considering this is an outdoor product which i think other reviews have not taken in to consideration and scare monger a little... its exceeded our expectation.

ADVISE - Our fitter advised us to not fit the decking on a very hot day or a very cold day because gaps can get bigger. We have not noticed anything move in 8 months but just thought i would mention!

Stick to timber

I'll keep this simple:-
* Contraction and expansion inconsistent so constantly having to reconfigure boards. The 8k's worth of decking was professionally installed. When cold the gaps are very unsightly.
* The boards are incredibly flexible and have warped and bent under the "weight" of basic garden furniture. Where the step ladders were placed is very misshapen. No point replacing them as it will do it again.
*Wrong colour Clipz sent.
* Overall the decking looks sleek and is easy to keep clean.
* The cladding is a superior product to the decking and looks fab.
* Initial contact very positive. Very considerate delivery chap but Aftercare doesn't seem to exist.

OK where to start. Updated 2024

OK where to start? As companies go pretty easy to deal with, the usual "over eager" sales department but any short comings there were more than compensated for by the excellent service of their delivery department and drivers (they should get five stars on their own.

As for the product and I guess this is the one most people will be interested in, well here goes.

Pro's. We bought about ninety square meters of the "Moderna" decking along with a quantity of "L Trim" and edge clips, system "Clipz" and decking screws (it was heavily suggested that any guarantee could be heavily compromised if we used any other installation clips than those supplied by Deckz. What sealed the deal for us was the availability of the wider plank 200mm and the longest plank length available 4.8m. This meant we could avoid any butt joints across the whole area of our decking project. Following the guidelines and useful tips, the job isn't something that falls out of the scope of a proficient DIY'er. Like everything else in life, the key to a good result is a solid plan, preparation, a good base to your deck and patience. Despite my initial reservations about the Clipz securing blocks the system works well and quickly shows any issues with your sub structure. Finished the deck looked fabulous, even before fitting the edge trim the whole thing really did look great!

So the con's. Well its a big one really. Certainly the surface of the "Moderna" decking boards mark way too easily. I mean you'll ne asking your guests to wear slippers when they venture out on to it. Patio furniture, pet animals claws, the wheels on the BBQ even the feet on the step ladders I use to clean the windows with, all mark the deck. Some marks are small and acceptable, but some like those created by the wheels on out gas BBQ (A Webber), are just heartbreaking.

Deckz state that the "Moderna" boards can be sanded conventionally. Having tied this out with a waste piece of decking I can tell you that this really is a remedy of last resort, genuinely! If your basing your purchase decision on this, then don't, stick to wood.

If you're installing yourself it's a good idea to make sure you keep in mind a future need to change planks and also to have a few spare. I've a feeling we are certainly going to need them.

So the summary is this. Fabulous looking finish and a really distinctive air of quality. But lacks durability.

Now to 2024

Of the 80 or so Moderna Deckz fitted 7 have split and catastrophically failed materially. Thats nearly 10% of the boards fitted and after only two years. I can only assume that as time goes on more boards will split and fail. I say fail as the split is caused by the boards swelling and breaking along the weakest point of the extrusion (The splits aren't caused by expansion as each board is separate and retained by the Clpz system, so there is no end on restriction). If the boards had been natural wood, I would have at least stood a chance of gluing and clamping the board as a repair, but when the Deckz boards split they do not retain their profile.

Decks response? A well rehearsed script of how it's everybody else's fault except their product. The warranty is worthless and as said, even if they replaced the currently failed boards how many more will split in the future. I guess the biggest indicator of the quality of the company and the Moderna boards is Deckz threat to sue me for a review left in "Google Reviews" about their Moderna product.

Having purchased nearly 3k of what I…

Having purchased nearly 3k of what I thought was UK built Decking Handrails, Spindles and Edging,  less than a year and a half later,  every single one of the 4 SEPARATE components is splitting and cracking open !  Safety is paramount with any raised deck !

Like the two other unhappy customers I have managed to track down, i too have been told "its my fault"  "didnt fit it right " ive squeezed the boards..I've crushed the spindles, everything except I didn't tuck it in and give it a kiss goodnight ! Pathetic.

They have removed all reviews from their Facebook page.  As two were negative and the one good one was from a  "friend".

Proof available from other unhappy customers that if u want any kind of action then u have to take your bad review down !

Proof also available that I too personally was intimidated with legal action if I didnt remove my review.

Thomas the owner is all to happy to sell to you, but too scared to actually talk to you when things go wrong and try to resolve reasonably. His staff also hide behind keyboards and emails. All he wants is pictures when u finish decking then he's done !

Well i had held off posting this review since August..4 months now.... as I am a reasonable person and open to discussion.  But now they have not picked up phone ONCE since complaint lodged.

So this review is being posted to save others the same distress and expense of dealing with these people and this company.
