Purchased a Canon EOS R3 ($6,800) from DigiDirect Parramatta on 18/04/2026. The camera was dead on arrival (no power/display).
When I returned to the store and requested a refund, I was told this was not available and that I had to accept a replacement or wait for the item to be sent to Canon. This contradicts Australian Consumer Law for a major failure.
Since then, resolving this has been extremely frustrating. The store manager has not responded to emails or made themselves available, and the online support team has been unable to assist, repeatedly redirecting me back to the store without any resolution.
I even contacted Canon myself to cancel a bonus claim in preparation for returning the item on the day return the camera, yet the store has still not provided clear support or confirmation for the refund.
Overall, this has been a drawn-out and unnecessarily difficult process for what should be a straightforward DOA case. I am now proceeding with NSW Fair Trading, and if required, NCAT to enforce my rights.
If you purchase from this store, be prepared to push hard to have your consumer rights recognised.

I ordered a camera bag and didn't receive a confirmation email. I contacted customer support and asked to chat with a team member. Thomas was able to find my order and confirm that it was soon to be packed and shipped with a tracking number. I would give 5* for his response but this is not the first time I've had to follow up on an order. Digidirect need to improve the order confirmation system.

My item was on back order for quite a few months. I was updated constantly as to the progress of the stock arriving in Aus. Amazing service - the attention I was given - the service with sales people - amazing! No actual follow-up to initial receipt of my email. Obviously very busy people in store, so I can see why they don't rate more than 3 stars to online requests.or emails - just too busy.
Finally I went into digi direct today (22 April) their Elizabeth St Melbourne and purchased a canon RF 24-70mm L lens but it was still pretty laid back in store but eventually someone did notice me

I was initially going to purchase my camera through another store but since I was in the area, I thought i’d try digidirect. The person who I was really impressed with is the senior male staff/ manager. He was very busy attending to other clients when I got there but he would stop and assist the young lady I was asking help from. They initially said no to matching sony’s online offer but since the manager was in close proximity he told the staff not to assume they know everything. So he matched sony’s offer for me. It was very pleasant and smooth transaction and my camera body was delivered on time.
Also, it was closing time and I needed to wait for my ride home. I was about to leave the premises when the manager stopped me and offered me to stay inside while I wait for my ride. I didn't know the area very well but he told me I can wait inside even after 4pm because he didn't want me to get robbed since I was carrying pricey gears. That level of care to customers is beyond! I didn't get his name sadly. But he was such a good human being. Thank you! May you be rewarded for being an exemplary employee.
