Poor quality doors

I would avoid this company and their products. The quality of the doors certainly do not match the price tag. The door came damaged, but this was not seen by builders in time and their returns policy in my opinion does not represent the consumer.
Would never recommend nor use their products going forward.

I would not touch these with a barge…

I would not touch these with a barge pole. Firstly I was told the doors were in stock but actually they were on back order for 8 weeks. Secondly they then sent the wrong doors. Once we received the correct doors, the colors didn't match and the only resolution offered was to buy the wood oil the manufacturer uses. After all the backwards and forwards they wont accept a return even though they are still fully packaged. I may as well have tipped £2.5k down the drain.

I would strongly AVOID!

Great company to deal with

Great company to deal with, has an excellent range of products priced to suit all pockets. Good website information that is easy to navigate, communication is excellent with flexible delivery to suit customer needs.
Plus, there is a host of helpful fitting and installation information on YouTube and downloadable pdf's
No need to look any further than Direct Doors!
Keep it up guys!

No problems

No problem with the order, a sales person contacted me to make sure that the handles I ordered were correct, as I'm having a sliding door fitted.
Door arrived on schedule, all good.

I think they are con artists disguised…

I think they are con artists disguised as a genuine company. The doors arrived and were the wrong size. I contacted them immediately to explain the mistake and they took a long time to respond. After chasing they asked for photos which I sent. Then after more chasing they said that the manufacturers would return them for 20%! Reluctantly I agreed as I had no choice. Then after a few more days they said the manufacturers couldn't take them. I would not deal with them again. They hide behind 'manufacturer' but you can never speak to the manufacturer and so you don't have anybody to complain to. The doors were never opened, never used. Unless you are sure to the mm of your door size don't order from this company because they will really rip you off if you try to return it. I didn't even want a refund, I wanted an exchange! AVOID, AVOID, AVOID

I have been made aware of this by my colleague Caitlyn who was dealing with your return request.

As per our returns form, you have stated that the door remains in the original packaging, but they were the incorrect size for what you needed. However, when the image was received the doors are very clearly out of the packaging. The returns policy clearly states all goods which are unwanted and to be returned must not be worked on and remain in the original packaging.

It is not without Sympathy and Caitlyn has done all she can to have the doors be accepted back but due to the goods being out with the packaging, we would be unable to resell the goods as they are not in the original condition supplied therefore, we cannot accept the goods back.

Pretty poor quality for the price

Pretty poor quality for the price. £1100 for a door. The frame is only a 3 piece and is cheap MDF. The paint all comes off when being trimmed. Doors themselves are ok quality. The pairmaker is absolute garbage and is cheap MDF. wanted to charge over a £100 for MDF footer as they don’t come with the door. Better using a local firm who fit, much better quality for better quality and a full service. Won’t use again.

UPDATE:

It gets worse. The handles/latches they sell don’t actually fit the doors and you can’t buy touch up paint. Despite them quoting a RAL number the paint doesn’t match. Absolute cheap rubbish (except they are expensive)

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to leave your review.

We do clearly state on our website that the frames are an MDF material and consist of two legs and the lintol which are prefinished in a black primer.

The frames have never been supplied with a bottom part and this is not something we have been asked before. My colleague Bradley had discussed this to see if we could cut a piece of timber to suit the overall door width and has provided a cost.

However, when discussing this with one of our bench hand joiners they felt it would be more beneficial for you to source a local merchant for this part and paint in the same RAL.

I can confirm the ironmongery purchased is suitable for the doors you have. We sell over 400 of these products each month without any issues.

However, I do understand you are speaking with my colleague Kiera who is trying to assist you with the fitting of the goods. As she has made you aware, she is out of the office this afternoon and not back until Monday, but I will be available until 4.30pm should you require any assistance.

As for the RAL code, again, this is not something we have ever had issues in passing onto our customers. The code is 9005 10-15% glossiness and this can be taken to any paint stockist and they would be able to mix this for you.

It was a very easy website to navigate around making it very quick and straightforward to order the doors we wanted. We were kept informed from ordering to the delivery date.
When they arrived, luckily my husband was here to help the driver carry the doors into the house, as I wouldn't have been able to lift them as they were incredibly heavy. My husband shouldn't have done it as he has a bad back, but apparently there was no room on the lorry for a trolley!
Now we have had the doors installed they look amazing and we have had many lovely compliments about them.

£102 for bog standard door - joke!

Paid £102 for an internal door as size was smaller than standard door width and wanted good quality

As door was so expensive thought would be better quality as wanted a good solid door.

When delivered realised it was no better than bog standard doors you get from B & q
Then when my joiner came I was told it was too wide.
Contacted customer service about returning and was emailed to say cost for return would be £56 which I would have to pay up front before it was collected and there was no guarantee I would be refunded.
Absolute joke.

To make it worse my joiner said I could have got the correct door with correct size of 610mm width for £36 from Wickes which I have checked online and he is correct

They have standard answer to all complaints

But They never reply about their high prices

I looked at the order and can see you have ordered the Colonial 6 Panel White Primed Door. The door is not a solid core but a hollow core which we clearly state on the product page.

In the return email to you, we clearly state there will be a charge for collection and whilst we appreciate you did not wish to pay this, we have provided an alternative option for you to return by your own means. In most circumstances, we do prefer for customers to do this but we do wish to help our customers by offering a collection service.

Great problem-solving and customer service

The customer support staff were incredibly helpful when I experienced a problem with making an online payment. They managed to find a flexible workaround and were supportive in getting the order processed and the delivery booked. The delivery driver was also very helpful and went the extra mile to bring the door into the garage for my elderly parents.

Really love this website

Really love this website, it has a door for every room.
We chose sliding hanging Oak doors for our bedroom en-suite, they look amazing and very different. Also a very narrow glass door for our bathroom. Our house is a little thatched cottage, so hard to find a company that can supply all sizes. Deliver was also very very good.

Hardwood french doors

These french external hardwood door are very poor quality, they are very light in weight with a very thin veneer how they say they are hardwood is beyond me
I doubt i will get five years from them.
Very poor indeed.

The customer service I received from…

The customer service I received from Rebecca was amazing. She arranged my deliveries, dealt with the courier firm and found replacement products as needed. Very efficient, friendly and followed up so I knew where things were. I really appreciated her help.
