I'm a senior citizen ... don't understand why i have to indicate 'no car, no animals' , when i want simply to book a ticket; why not make it an 'additional' rather then opting out!? // could not find the 'return ticket' option - so I had to make two extra bookings // where do the extra fees come from? why not make it ONE amount - would be more straight forward = honest //

I booked ferries to Shetland on this website - they made it look like they had live availability so I paid for the ferries to be told they had to contact the ferry provider.
I paid for the cancellation fee (£30 for 2 people) due to having complicated family situation going on. When I needed to cancel one person due to their health reasons, this was not possible despite it being in the cancellation period - I had to cancel the whole booking or not receive ANY refund. I know from speaking with NorthLink Ferry that Direct Ferry would have been able to make the cancellation and receive a full refund.
I have now rebooked with North Link Ferries but am £57 down and will never use this company again.

Would be better if you could more easily see how far through the process you are at any given point. Dropped a few stars for pushing the iPhone app which then would not let me create an account.

Useful comparison site for ferry companies
Fairly easy to put in information it would be useful if this was remembered rather than re entering it each time you look.
When I paid it said there was an error and wasn’t clear that it was actually booked although when I looked at the bookings it was there, so a confirmation message would be good.
