I booked with Direct ferries. After a few days they emailed me to say their vehicle dimensions did not match mine, even though I did not give my vehicle dimensions but just my vehicle reg no and then confirmed model etc.
As per their request I emailed my vehicle dimensions, but after a few days had not heard anything and we were tracking a few weeks.
I chased but received nothing.
I therefore decided to cancel as I had paid for the refund option.
Direct ferries eventually contacted me and apologised and said everything was now ok. I responded that I had made other arrangements, in this case flight and car hire, and that I had requested a refund.
Eventually they refunded me but less the amount I had paid for club lounge etc which happens to be in their small print.
So because of their incompetence I have lost £40 through no fault of mine.
Since then they have messaged me countless times asking me to change my review. Today was the latest this time they phoned me and said they would speak to their supervisor, the answer came back in minutes with the narrative……as per our policy we only refund 80% of your booking…….we hope you will change your review.
I will not change my review, I will not use them again and suggest that should be careful as they may spoil your important holiday, important to you that is.
If Direct Ferries spent less money on defending their indefensible refund policy, when they at fault and the perpetrators of the cancellation, they could better spend their money on refunds and customer retention.
If 10 people decide not to book because of this review that will be the most expensive £40 they have ever spent.

Due to incorrect information
Due to incorrect information, we could not travel to Jersey. The information recaived said that we could travel with passport/ID and (even) driving license.
But when we arrive at check-in, we were refused to travel to Jersey. Cause my wife has a ID card. So, about € 1.000,= (ferry and hotel costs) GONE. You should inform people better that travelling to Jersey ONLY passports are accepted!!
Next time I will not use Direct Ferries to buy tickets!!

Fine when everything goes to plan
Fine when everything goes to plan, as it did the first few times I used them, but if there is a problem, you find out that the customer service that sits behind the website is slow, unhelpful and I got sent repeated incorrect information about my crossing which caused delays, concern and was impossible to speak to anyone at Direct Ferries who could tell me anything useful. I complained and they wore me down - I gave up fighting in the end so will never use them again. Not worth the cost saving Vs booking with operators when you would rather have peace of mind should there be an issue with your booked ferry service.

We had trafic jam in Hamburg and a delay of 4 hours, we tried to contact the customer service 4 hours before departure, but an endless answering service send us form one answering device to another, then we tried to connect to the chat service - but same result - stupid AI answers- one after the other.. and we could reuse the ticket to next ferry, we was 4 minutes late to check in and lost 800 euro cricket even though we did try to react 4 hours prior to departure, and the AI claims that gate closing was 30 min before departure, bad service no one is answering the phone or reply on chats 4 hours before departure, and then no change of refund "due to their policy" stupid setup for customer service, easy to make acceptance for cancelations, when the do not respond to any request 4 hours before departure.

I will not book with Direct Ferries…
I will not book with Direct Ferries again, and urge others to look elsewhere. We booked a trip, paid for and all. Late we received an email telling us that the rate adverstised by their own website and already paid by us was incorrect, and that we owed them an extra 187 euros. This felt like a shakedown, as our hotel had already been booked. I responded to them to try and come to some agreement, but the email was returned to me as undeliverable. On their website there is no way to get in touch, only a bad chat bot which submits a ticket for your issue. As our trip is in two days time I do not have faith that this will be resolved on time. It has caused a lot of stress and disappointment.
