Agent offered automatic fill up on return. What she did not explaining was that they would charge$56 for a full tank ( @ $4.48/ GAL for 12.5 gal tank) . Local price $3.50. We used 1/4 tnk =$10.94 . Dollar ripped us off for the difference .. I called- no refund for unused fuel!! FILL YOUR OWN TANK-THEY WILL OFFER THIS CONVENIENCE TO STEAL FROM YOU !
SCAM AT THE COUNTER — LIS Insurance Sold as Mandatory (It Is Not)
I rented a car at Dollar MCO (Orlando Airport) on May 4, 2026. My prepaid voucher already included full damage protection (LDW). At the counter, the agent told me that the LIS (Liability Insurance Supplement) was required by law and that I had no choice but to accept it. I believed him and signed.
This is completely false. LIS is 100% optional. No Florida law requires renters to purchase supplemental liability insurance. The agent lied to my face to earn a commission.
When I tried to cancel immediately, another agent told me it was impossible and gave me an internal email address that turned out to be wrong. I then contacted Dollar's official customer service in writing. They never responded — and sent me a final invoice with the charge included anyway.
Total amount charged fraudulently: $174.68 (11 days x $15.88) — Rental Record: #574315814
This is a documented practice. Dollar has already faced a federal class action lawsuit for exactly this. I have filed complaints with the FTC (Report #202735310) and am disputing the charge with my bank.
