racist

I worked for this company for almost three years, and it was a nightmare because I was harassed by supervisors and managers simply for being Latino. They humiliate all the Latinos they employ, and if they speak up to be heard, they fabricate any accusation to fire them. I posted on their own social media page, highlighting the racism and discrimination against Latino employees, and they made accusations to get me fired. They try to cover up everything they do and make it look good; no one can complain because they'll be fired. I reported a manager twice for being drunk, and then I was harassed by him for over six months because in the same office, they tell supervisors and managers who complains about them, even though that should be confidential.

The app is a total rip off

The app is a total rip off. You "clip" a "$10.00" coupon that clearly shows it has been "clipped" on the app, you shop by the list it lets you make, you get to the counter with almost a $70 basket that clearly shows on the app that $10 plus the discounts you receive from items within the store and how much it will be after the "$10" deduction with tax added in but the only amount that comes off is a "$2" coupon that was supposed to be overridden because you chose the "$10" one instead....and management explains that's an app problem that they can do nothing about it. I spend on average between home and business supplies approx. $10K-$20k per year with this chain.....but that is over now. Back to Walmart, Aldi, and Food Lion where you never encounter issues like that.

Worst manager ever

Worst manager ever. Always empty shelves and freezer section. Manager stays in office while line to register is out the door. I suggest no one use this trashy store.

Would give no stars if available

Would give no stars if available. KIRKLIN, IN has the worst DG store Ive ever been to. Ive live in a few other towns and KIRKLIN, IN is by far the worst. The employees there always talk about the customers, make fun of them etc.... Its disgusting. I called an employee out on what she was saying to another employee and she lied straight to my face after she had been caught. Horrible people!

Dollar General Refusing to Formally Fix What They Caused

I was criminally trespassed from a Dollar General—for attempting to shop during posted business hours.

I arrived at 9:50 PM— 10 minutes before closing. As I pulled up, an employee waved me off through the window. When I walked to the door, he refused to open it. He claimed they were closed despite customers still inside visibly shopping.

Two employees kept walking to the window, stared at me, took photos while I sat in my car looking up corporate contact info, then called police— I was not being threatening. I was not being aggressive. I was not making a scene.

The officer told me I was criminally trespassed.

The police report claims that a store manager requested the trespass. That’s the official record.

Except Dollar General’s own investigation proved that never happened.

A District Manager told me multiple times that:
• No Dollar General employee requested or authorized the trespass
• The responding officer acted on his own, claiming I was a “known issue”
• The supposed manager named in the report was a recent hire who is no longer employed

She apologized and acknowledged the employees had no authority to close early. She confirmed everything needed to challenge the false police record.

And then she refused to put any of it in writing.

Week 1: District Manager calls back after initial complaint. Explains internal findings verbally.
Week 3: Follow-up conversation initiated by customer. Same findings. District Manager requests police documentation, receives it via provided email. Promises follow-up email “the next day.” Never sends it.
Week 6: Formal written request for statement. No response. Online complaint requesting escalation to Regional Manager or Legal. No response.
Week 7: Customer service call. Promised callback in 24-48 hours. Nothing.
Week 8: Another call. Same promise. Same silence.
Week 9: Another call. Another broken promise.

Multiple emails to corporate addresses including the CEO, various VPs, investor relations, customer service, and the district manager. Zero responses.

This isn’t about an apology. This is about a false law enforcement record that gives a deputy legal justification to arrest someone for going to the store.

Dollar General knows the record is false. They investigated it. They confirmed it. And now they’re protecting their liability at the expense of my civil rights.

Their silence isn’t neutral. It’s a choice. By refusing to document what they’ve already admitted, they’re allowing a fabricated police report to stand as fact—and leaving a customer to fight law enforcement alone, with one hand tied behind their back.

It's clear that Dollar General doesn’t want to admit to n writing that:
• Their employees closed the store early without authorization
• Their employees called the police on a customer who was just trying to shop
• Their employees stood by while an officer manufactured a trespass notice
• The so-called “manager” who allegedly requested the trespass may not have even held that title

And they definitely don’t want to admit that employees locked customers inside the store while procedurally securing the building—a potential fire safety violation under state law.

Because once that’s in writing, it’s not just the customer’s problem, it’s their problem.

If you’re a Dollar General customer, ask yourself:

Do you want to shop at a place where employees call the cops after creating an issue in the first place? A place where corporate apologizes behind closed doors, but refuses to put their words in writing because they're more concerned about liability than the abuse a d violation of a customer's civil rights, while leaving you with a permanent record—even after corporate admits it was bullsh_t?

Commerce City Colorado Store

Commerce City Colorado Store: this is concerning the bringing in of backpacks: I am 58years of age and ill start by saying Ive not been a thief and i cant stand a thief: Next I find this policy discriminatory. Never have is seen the women or shoppers with thier own take home shopping bags to be left on the dirty floor by the doors. Now to my recent issue on 2/10/2026, I went in with my bag and heard someone saying sir leave you bag and take off the backpack. I took a cart and kept shopping and got in line. This short heavyset hispanic woman with purple hair then walked up to me and began a debate with me in the presence of about 15 other shoppers. and waited with me all the way to check out. as we got to check out she told the clerck not to scan my items and was refusing service. Is this how Dollar General treats law abiding and paying customers? Not only did i walk to the store in the cold, now I had to walk home in the cold and humiliated at YOUR Store. I hope that the management from the top down sees this email. I hope that you take the appropriate action and terminate this woman and that by doing so you tell me and the shoppers that you dont tolerate this kind of treatment to your shoppers. Remember, its the shoppers that keep you in operation and not the the ones you pay. I would also recommend that you revise this egregious policy: I can understand with a group of kids coming into a store to set backpacks on a clean table: But for adults who rely on public transportation or walking, and the elderly dont treat us like criminals please. Dont have no employee try and prove a point by disrespecting the shoppers. Please advise me on the actions you are going to take:

I came to the Dollar General located at…

I came to the Dollar General located at 2400 N Mesa Street in El Paso, TX at 7 p.m. There is a cashier named Marta. This woman is a very rude employee. She treats the paying customers like thieves. She told me to shake my jacket. She made the customers wait until she took her sweet time to get to the cash register. This woman has no business taking care of customers. The manager needs to put this woman out of the site of the customers. She is costing money to this store. I bet you a lot of customers have walked out and will not return to shop here.

Customer Support is Nonexistent

Customer Support is nonexistent. I was on hold for fifteen minutes and told I was the 14 in the queue. Five minutes later, I was told I was 17 in queue. Really?

I was calling for assistance because I could not sign into my account to browse and save online coupons. Finally, after many tries, the system locked me out of the site "for security reasons." Are you kidding me?

Terrible website. Terrible customer service.

As a customer

As a customer, when I shop at a store, I expect to receive excellent service. Unfortunately, at this location the experience is quite the opposite. The staff is unprofessional and does not know how to treat customers with respect.

When customers ask for assistance, employees often refuse to help, claiming they are too busy with their own tasks. Additionally, they appear to lack proper training in operating the cashier system, which creates further frustration.

I am also deeply concerned by what seems to be discriminatory behavior. When a customer has limited English proficiency, employees make no effort to assist, even though using a translator is a simple and reasonable solution. This demonstrates a lack of basic logic, empathy, and customer service skills.

Overall, I am very disappointed with the unprofessional behavior of the staff at this store.

The store on cherry road in Massillon…

The store on cherry road in Massillon Ohio needs shut down. You can go in there at any time of the day and you will have a hard time even finding an employee. They literally hide in the back on their phones and every isle is still full of stuff that needs put away. You have to holler for someone just to ring you out or you have to do it yourself and just leave money on the counter. It’s so bad it almost can’t even be real.

Chemical storage best practices.

DG stores bleach and other highly dangerous chemicals on the top shelves.
I just retired from industry that forbids storing any chemical above EYE LEVEL. Store paper products, etc. on top shelves and chemicals stored on bottom shelves.
Other than that, I love my DG. Employees always busy but helpful.

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!! Everything that I picked up in store #22317 located at 1294 Lamar Avenue Memphis, Tn., rang up an entirely different price at the register! The sales prices were posted throughout the store and the manager would not honor the sales prices. The ONE check-out line went all the way back to an aisle and wrap back around to the register. The manager did not show any concern for the fact that the line was extremely long! The cashier kept asking her questions and instead of her coming to see what the cashier needed or to assist, she kept talking loud back and forth with the cashier all the way from across the store. Totally unprofessional! Who wants to wait in a long line after being at work all day just to be ignored when you ask can price be adjusted due to the sales signs? DG needs to do better at hiring and whoever you choose as management should do their jobs! She was completely incompetent and uncouth!
