Dorset Fencing Reviews 

Avoid!Avoid! Avoid! At all costs do not use Tim Brook, trading as Dorset Fencing.
Tim Brook has already racked up some utterly dreadful reviews, which we wished we’d seen before we asked him to work for us. And boy do we regret it!

We paid Tim Brook £1,000 in advance for materials, after which he disappeared. We contacted him at least weekly for over 6 months - each time he gave us a different excuse (bad weather, vehicle failures, impromptu holidays, bereavement, illness, etc) and prevaricated endlessly. When we sent him messages ‘out of hours’ his replies were extremely aggressive and offensive. It soon became clear that Tim had no intention of completing the work, but we continued to politely coax him because he had our money and we hoped that he might be persuaded to do at least some of the work and thereby reduce our losses. Eventually after over 6 months of stressful engagement Tim turned up and did one short day’s work, completing around 15% of the job.
After another couple of weeks of no show Tim gave up, citing stress caused by our ‘threats’ - of which there were absolutely none (we have kept all the messages) - and charged us £900 (for an estimated £2,345 job) leaving the job hardly started and the site in an absolute mess.
Tim Brook is without doubt the worst contractor we’ve ever employed. Do not make the same mistake as us.

Paid for work to be done in March 2025. Am still waiting 16 months on. Every time I’ve asked when it will be done I’ve been given excuses and spoken to nastily. Would avoid at all costs!

Thank you for your response. I have retained a full record of all communication between us and do not agree with the suggestion that I have ignored contact, when all contact has always been initiated by me until now.
My review reflects my experience: I paid in advance for work that was never carried out.

It has now been well over a year since payment was made. During that time, the cost of having the work completed has increased significantly, meaning I am now financially worse off than I would have been had the work been completed as agreed.

I also find it inappropriate to bring family and mutual friends into a public response. I chose your company because it came highly recommended by family and friends, but that has no bearing on the fact that this is a business transaction. I believe personal relationships should be kept separate from professional matters. I would also like to point out that the tone and manner of communication I received was rude, completely unprofessional and unacceptable.

If a refund was genuinely being offered, it should have been resolved long before now but you have not followed this up.
As things stand, I have neither received the agreed work nor a refund. I remain willing to resolve this matter amicably, but until either the agreed work is completed or I receive a full refund, my review accurately reflects my experience.

Brilliant Fencing by Dorset Fencing - arrived on time and worked through the rain to install a quality feather edge fence and new gate. Great prices but even greater customer service and attention to detail. Thanks Tim for a job well done!👍

Cannot fault Tim at Dorset Fencing for the work that he has completed on our property. Happy to recommend him and would quite happily show people the fencing he erected if they would like to inspect.

I would like to tell everyone who is thinking of having any fence work done to exclude dorset fence from there thinking as they are the worse fencing company over fifty years I have had the misfortune to deal with

Avoid like the plague. Took a deposit for a fence. Excuse after excuse, didn’t turn up when arranged. Refused to give deposit back or release the materials he said he had bought to us. Eventually we secured a CCJ against him that has still not been paid. A subsequent search reveals we are not the first.
