The Dyno-Rod operative was impressively competent, persevering and cheerful. He knew his stuff. He was 99% convinced that there was another manhole - though none was visible. His camera confirmed it. He patiently used a detector around our front lawn and shrubbery to locate it, and succeeded despite interference. It was totally concealed and covered with soil. This manhole was blocked by shrub roots. He cleared this out and resolved the problem. I "take my hat off" to him! Very grateful.

As a British Gas HomeCare customer, my recent experience with their subcontractor, Dyno-Rod, was a stressful, uphill battle. The situation was salvaged at the very last minute, but the journey to get there was completely unacceptable.
I originally booked an appointment for a small leak 10 days in advance. On the actual day of the visit, Dyno-Rod cancelled and casually informed me I would have to wait another 10 days or so for a rescheduled slot. By this point, the leak had worsened significantly. After arguing with the local office to emphasize the urgency, they finally agreed to send someone out.
The person who arrived was a very young apprentice who was clearly not there to fix anything—he was just there to take photos. He was so inexperienced that he couldn't even find the main stopcock on the street; I had to go out and do it myself. Despite it being glaringly obvious that the leak required immediate intervention, he ignored my warnings and left.
To make matters infinitely worse, he never asked me to sign the report he produced. Instead, he signed it himself, forging my signature as if I had authorized it.
After the apprentice left, the local office called and said they would be in touch the following morning. When they did call, it was only to dismiss my issue, stating they wouldn't return for another week because my job "wasn't an emergency."
When I tried to explain that the leak was getting progressively worse, the lady on the phone began patronizingly "schooling" me on the nature of the plumbing work, proudly claiming she had been doing this for years and "knew better."
At my wit's end, I told them I was raising a formal complaint directly with British Gas, which I immediately did.
Magically, a Dyno-Rod leak team turned up that exact same afternoon.
I have to give 5 stars to the actual leak team.The engineers who did the physical work were fantastic. They were highly professional, communicative, and the quality of the repair itself seemed very good.
If this review were based purely on the final repair team, it would be a 5-star rating. However, I am giving 0 stars to the local office's customer service and the initial apprentice. The condescending attitude of the phone staff, the day-of cancellations, and an operative literally forging a customer's signature make for an atrocious customer journey. You shouldn't have to fight tooth and nail—and threaten a formal complaint to British Gas—just to get an active leak taken seriously.

Booking online was simple. Phone call in the morning to confirm the problem and provide a quote.
Engineer called before arrival and arrived on time. Explained the process and was only here about 30mins or so.
All communication was straightforward and easy to understand.
Hopefully will never need to use them again but would absolutely recommend! :-)

Made my initial call at 4.45pm to the call centre. Within 3 hours my drain that has been blocked for some time is now clear. Excellent communication throughout from the call centre, then within minutes from the depot and then the main man who did an excellent job. Wish I’d got his name to give praise where praise is due
I actually thought I’d have to be given an appointment at some point in the coming days so to hear he was on his way that evening was amazing
