Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) plugin offers a relatively quick and affordable solution to turn your WordPress Website in a store which sells digital products, mostly for selling premium WordPress plugins but also books, templates and other. The free version comes with PayPal Standard Payment gateway, which makes it possible to setup a pilot shop for free which is really helpful for many developers or small business owners who like to setup their own digital products stores.
The difference between this plugin and other solutions is also that you have full control over the website's source code. Unlike many other plugins you’ll stumble upon, the basic setup is rather lightweight, simple and easy to use, and it doesn’t overpower your website.
There are quite a number of additional plugins available (we estimate ca. 300 - 500 plugins) to add and improve to the functionality of an Easy Digital Downloads store.
