Went out of business no surprise. Bike quality was pretty good. Customer service and fulfillment were horrible. No wonder they went under.

Poor battery and their warranty claim is a SCAM
In my household, we had two e-bikes, one from Lectirc and one from Electric Bike Company ®️ . We bought these bikes the same time and now the battery died for the bike of the Electric Bike Company ®️.
We were INFORMED by them that based on our warranty, our battery should be covered as long as the problem is not caused by the customers.
We (paid to) mail this battery to them. Today, they told us they detected bad cells in the battery and they would give us a new one. However, we NEED TO PAY the $90 diagnostic fee and $20 for them to ship the battery to us. I am ok with the $20 shipping fee but the $90 diagnostic fee is totally bullsh*t.
If it is within the warranty and obviously based on their judgement the warranty covered our battery problems (bad cells), why should we spend $90 diagnostic fee. Honestly speaking, for pricy bikes like theirs, shouldn't the warranty cover all fees (including shipping fee back and forth) if problems are covered by warranty??
$90 may not be a lot of money (compared to the price of their battery and bikes), but I felt scammed by their "warranty policy".
Switched to BMX handlebars
I adapted a model E to match my needs. I’ve had 5 shoulder surgeries (3 on the left, 2 on the right) and always felt pain after a long ride. I switched from cruiser handlebars to BMX style. Now my arms are more forward and turns are easier. I’m 5’4” and I also switched to 24” tires. I previously have owned a model Y and model R. I wish they would of had a model E or R with BMX handlebars to try out instead of switching without a test ride.
Great quality e-bikes
I'm very pleased with the e-bike I purchased. I researched other e-bikes and the quality of the EBC bikes are impressive compared to others. The customer service is great as well. I would highly recommend this place.
The worst of the worst company needs to…
The worst of the worst company needs to be more responsible with its customers but at EBC no one cares if not ask Jaime. I order my bike full paid 8 weeks ago and today 9/1 call back and they added another 10 days for stock colors. Rad e-bikes I recommend.
Ordered a custom bike rack on June 21
Ordered a custom bike rack on June 21, 2023. It is now Aug. 23, I have no rack and get ZERO communication on what happened to my order or when I can expect it, meanwhile they've had my $$ for 2 mos. The communication is beyond poor. Sadly this leaves an awfully poor taste in one's mouth should any further assistance be needed for my E-bike.
I would tell you how great my bike is…
Edit: It is now three months after my initial order with no bike and no communication.
I would tell you how great my bike is except it is now several weeks past the estimated build time and the company does not communicate with you unless you reach out and they just tell you another week or so. At one point it was listed as being tested for final production and then it was back to being not completed. Then the website was updated and that model bike was supposedly ready for immediate shipment with no lead time, but not my bike. I'd really to cancel my order at this point as I'm now seeing where people took several months to get delivery...which probably wouldn't be a problem except they don't communicate these delays with you. While I was initially super excited about this bike, I now feel kinda scammed out of a few thousand dollars.
Disappointed - new model J
I had very high expectations because this is a local (Southern California) company, and offered a very attractive pré-production price on their new model J in April. Their people were very friendly and always available. But I began to have doubts when despite having all the upgrade specs on the custom order, after a long delay, they delivered the cheaper base J bike in July. They offered to fix the problem by rebuilding it to custom specs within 10 days, but never did. Instead told me that I that I was back in the queue and have to wait: 5 week estimate turned into 5 months! So, I just cancelled the order and am hoping for a refund. It is incompetence at best, or bait and switch at worst. Given this sales experience as a new customer, can't imagine trying to get help later if I purchased it and had problems.
I bought two Model R bikes
I bought two Model R bikes - one bike has worked perfectly fine. The other bike, however, has not. The rear motor locked up and would not respond. Got an error message "motor position fault." Called the company, they asked that I take it to a certified dealer for service. Service tech determined that I needed a new rear wheel with new motor. EBC sent the wrong wheel...had to order a second one. That wheel and motor worked for about two weeks, then same problem. EBC sent me a brand new bike. Had it for a month or so, then had the same problem again. Called EBC, they asked me to send the wheel back to them (at my cost - $100 to ship the wheel). They had my wheel for 3 weeks with no contact initiated from the company whatsoever. I called them multiple times and just got the run-around. Finally, after 3 full weeks and my persistent follow-up, they said, they could find nothing wrong with the wheel / motor. Sent it back to me. I installed it back on the bike and still had the same "motor position fault" error. Called customer service and asked to speak with a supervisor - got in touch with Blake. He said, "let me check on it - I'll get back to you." 2 weeks went by, no contact. I called Blake back and he said, "let me check on it and I'll get back to you." I said, "with all due respect, you told me that last time and you didn't call me back after 2 weeks." He said, "I forgot." During the second call, he said he'd need to get in touch with his Chief Technical Officer and he'd call me back. I've heard nothing from them. I've called Blake 2x since then, and left messages. No return call. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER SEEN.
We bought 2 model Es
We bought 2 model Es. Very well made in the USA. They ride nice and smooth. Blake was the manager that I dealt with, he was very pleasant and helpful. He knew the bikes inside and out. We bought from the existing inventory and they shipped from California to Illinois in a week via trucking company. Bikes were packaged in to large boxes on a pallet. Driver had an electric forklift and brought them right to our garage. I had them ready to go in about 15 minutes per bike. Not including charging.
Another nice thing is there are many videos on utube covering about anything you need to know. The battery life really impressed us. We can ride 30 miles on pedal assist and still have 3/4 battery life left using speed 2.
Too good to be true!
Bike is strong, fast, fashionable, and cheaper compared to its competitors. Almost too good to be true but I’m a month in and loving my model J!
Nothing short of awesome!
Nothing short of awesome. If you want a quality ebike that feels like a bicycle and not a moped this bike is for you. Smooth and totally fun!
Purchased in April; Took delivery in July - Why?
The bikes are truly beautiful and were acquired with all the bells and whistles for optimal riding comfort and safety. However, it was a long, arduous journey to get the bikes finalized with all the features we had chosen, and also, operationally functioning as desired so that we could enjoy safe and easy riding. My spouse had to do extensive research to figure out how to change numerous electronic settings so that the pedal assist and throttle would function smoothly and safely for comfortable riding. No one at the Huntington Beach store knew ANYTHING about how to adjust or program the pedal assist and throttle electronics to correct the issues we were experiencing. This was disappointing. They were friendly and knowledgeable about the general features and designs, which we appreciated. However, it was important to us - the customer - that the seller of the product truly know and understand all aspects of their product. The Newport Beach Electric Bike Company staff were much more helpful in this regard, though we purchased our bikes from the Huntington Beach store. Because my bike was missing some of the features that it was supposed to have when we were originally told to come pick it up, we left it with the store to get those items addressed. It was when we took my husband's bike home and test rode it that we discovered how jerky, unsafe and uneven the pedal assist function was, so much so that I was afraid it was going to cause me to fall. I am 68 and can ill afford to take a fall onto pavement at my age. We were able to pick up my bike in July and are now happily enjoying riding them!

2 years in and still great on the 2 Model S bikes we have!!!
Service has been fantastic, always get answers in a timely fashion!
Ther is a large Facebook presence of owners also out there to share everything from ride advice to service and technical questions!
Over the last few years have had friends and family purchase based upon research and our experience, dont let the cruiser look fool you into thinking these are just slow moving bikes! they haul butt, have great battery life, many, many options and again a very competent service and support group!!
It has been great to see them introduce new models and options over the past few years, they keep trying to improve and innovate!
Electric bike company- Highly Recommend!
I absolutely love my Model S from Electric Bike Company! It’s so cute and the sleek design turns heads wherever I go. It makes my commute to work much more enjoyable. Highly recommend!
Great bike and support, but problems
EBC has been extremely helpful, but after experiencing apparently the same battery/power problem twice, I'm beginning to think my Model-R has a built-in design problem - or two. Not good.
I've had to send my battery back again, and apparently for the same reason - bad contacts. Sean also warned me not to set the bike for Class-3 as that's asking for power overheating problems. Wish I'd known that before. And if the bike really shouldn't be operated as Class-3, then it shouldn't have that option. Or the "problem" should be solved with better design or components.
Too bad. I love the bike - when it works.
Took almost 3 months to receive the…
Took almost 3 months to receive the bike, which was longer than anticipated when initially purchasing the Model J. Second day out the bike kept shutting down randomly after 10-20 seconds with over 30% battery life. Called tech support and sent videos to try and figure out what was happening - no one had any idea. I’ve sent a follow up but still no response from “Blake” after I was told I would hear back in a couple days. As of now it seems to be working, but not sure I could recommend it to others currently.
3rd Time Was a Charm?
The brakes went out and we took the bike back for repairs 3x. The first time-- my daughter tried to ride it out the door and it was still making the same noise. Second try-- I went with her and asked if they had ridden it to see if the noise was gone, "yes" they said. Not so. The daughter got on the bike to ride to her job and the same issue was still making noise. The tech got very frustrated and basically got super frustrated with the repair. Since she had to get to work, we asked for-and were given a demo bike to borrow until hers was fixed. 3 weeks later, we finally got a call to say the bike was ready.
In addition to this, we had purchased a 2nd bike for our son and the day it was delivered 4 weeks later than promised0-- the chain fell off the bike riding it home. NOT cool for a $2500+ bike. I would make sure you do your research on bikes before buying from the EBC! Bummer, cause I want to support local.

Company needs to communicate better
Had some initial problems; the power meter never showed fully charged, and the accessories — Bluetooth speaker and cup holder — did not mount securely, slipping constantly.
I called customer service after they ignored my email, and they didn’t like my original review, and we were able to reprogram the display to make the gauge accurate.
However, the accessories come with inadequate ‘mounting rubber,’ or whatever you want to call the stuff in the box. There was not enough, and I finally had to rig my own mount using that and accessories I had left over from other bikes.
Spoiler alert: if you get the light package with low/high beams, you CANNOT get front turn signals, something I wish had been communicated when I was customizing the bike at the dealership.

Legitimate complains
1.- I got the bike some 3 weeks after estimated time.
2.- Didn’t include specific video for the 7 speed derailleur, I had to imbed the more time asking Blake.
3.- I paid shy of 2 Grand, and didn’t included air pump or patches? I was expecting a bit more attention.
4.- How come it won’t go pass 20/h on PL 5 , I saw the videos show close to 28. Please explain . I need to reach that speed to go to work.
It’ll be great if you still send me those standard tools. I picked up a really big thorn and I’m stuck at home.
Thanks
Marco

The bike was supposed to be delivered…
The bike was supposed to be delivered in May and I finally received it today. I am away on business and will not be able to open until Sunday morning. More communication from the company would have made the experience a lot better
